One of the first things people notice when they arrive in Ageum is that, everywhere there are people. Stepping outsside the airport doors, tourists are swept away by the loud throng of pedestrians; marketsellers hassle you for goods, buissnessmen rush too meetins, pickpockets are chased by policemen and mothers try to catch their mischevous children before they disapear under some strangers legs and get separated indeffinitely. The streets and Bazzars are like rivers which flow in every single direction and this makes life in Ageum's many cities vibrant but daunting. The small costal strip of Ageum is suffering from overpopulation. There is a density of 30 people per kilometer on average and some parts of the cities this skyrockets too 420 000. Government figures also can not keep up with the rising number of immigrants who flock to Ageums liberal society so the exact denisty figures are hard to confirm. However, overpopultion is increasingly becoming a problem, even though the birth rate is low and immigration is controlled, Ageums food and water supplies are only just managing to keep up with the rising level, especially in the cities which are becoming ever more popular places to live.![]() Overpopulation has not yet turned into a humanitarian problem now in 51Æ, however the fate of Ageum is carefully poised. The economy is expaning so rapidly that a economic bubble has been created, with massive investment flooding into Ageum. Many fear that a crash will be the inevitable result of this, and food, water and housing wil not be able to keep up, however the government has ensured many benift and subsidy schemes to control the economy and ensure that the basic protection remains. We do not want all our hard work and the gold weve earned to turn to dust in an instant. For this very reason, even though the situation is becoming increasingly unstable, forever locked between glorious economic expanison and the chasm of a reasorurce shortage, the peole of Ageum are not protesting. They know that even something like a general strike may tip the balence and plunge Ageum into crisis. ![]()
