Total, total, total, totally awesome discovery.

How about we have people be able to apply to have certain events registered on the forum's calendar? A reminder like "Country X's Elections" or "55Æ G8 Summit" or anything else. I think the integration of the site's calendar with roleplay events (of course OOC events, too) would be pretty sweet. I'd suppose the Interior Secretary would administrate that from their area of the forums in some sort of request thread, but what do you guys think about the overall concept?

Though we should make a clear difference between these IC events and the OOC events already in place.

Freeman, did I ever tell you that I love you?

Just kidding :P

But its a great idea.

I'll make a new thread in the Interior Ministry where people can apply for a calendar event. Those events can be elections, summits, rocket launches etc.

I will make a small set of rules of course.

I have an idea:

What if we use the calendar for global happenings as well? Things that just.... happen.

The roleplay sec or interior sec could just post like:

''Economic recession hits Agabia''

This would make sense. If you take a look at the world economy, there will always be regions where there is economic recession, and in turn, other regions will experience economic growth.

For example, when the Asian export is growing rapidly, it means the rest of the world is importing their stuff, meaning they will see their current account balance drop.

When the Asian export grows too much, inflation will cause the Asian export to drop again, making the export of other parts of the world grow again.

We could do the same in Renatia. When the Agabian economy is in a downturn, the Parundorian economy would be growing faster.

And besides the economics, we could also put natural disasters on the calendar. For example: Hurricane today in Moranus Vera. Or earthquake in south Isrenia. Enormous mudslides in some tropical nation.

These things are rarely ever roleplayed, I think, mainly because they are so directly involved to the Renatian globe and nobody actually knows what the global situation of Renatia is. The RP sec/interior Sec, could manage ''global roleplay'' to simulate happenings, events, disasters et cetera that are an effect of what's happening in all of Renatia.

This would also open up new roleplay opportunities. For example, Nentsia has launched a massive production campaign to become Renatia's largest agricultural producer. The Nentsian government does all it can to keep the Nentsian currency exchange rate very low, to increase the export.

Such economic policies affect the entire planet. The Nentsian cheap labor, cheap export and huge amounts of supplies could outcompete smaller agricultural nations. The rapid growth of the Nentsian agricultural industry would be a death sentence to many agricultural sectors in other Renatian countries.

Roleplay opportunity: Other nations begin to form economic blocks to compete with Nentsia, diplomatic meetings held between Nentsia and other nations to force the Nentsian government to allow inflation (and thus causing the Nentsian export to fall back) and so on.

The recent G20 for example, was a summit about the USA and China manipulating their currencies to outcompete eachother in world trade. In Holland we call it the Currency war. China keeps its exchange rate extremely low, to stimulate its export and outcompete the EU and the USA. The EU and the US don't manipulate their currencies because the system of demand & supply should determine the exchange rates.

Thoughts?
