Only three years after the generla election the King has allowed another to take place after the dreadful management of the nations economy by the government and prime minister. Due to this the election was called two years early and both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate will be re elected. There are 323 seats up for grabs in the Chamber of Deputies and 40 up for Grabs in the Senate. Four parties, one more on the last election, are seen as major contenders for the election. The first is the Conservative Islamic Front which currently controls almost half the Senate seas and has seen a surge in popularity when it has balimed the problems of Irana on Christians and other foreigners. The Second is the current rulling party, the Unity Party. The Party is centre left and expected to do terribly at the election due to a all time low following. The third if the Communist and Socialist Party which is not expected to do much better than the Unity Party and the last is the Devolution Party for Minorities which wishes to give more power to local governments and communities. So far all polls point to a hung parliament with either the CIF or the UP at the healm. Here is a slightly more in depth look at the parties. The Conservative Islamic Front. (CIF) The CIF is a totally Islamic Party dedicated to a very strict adherence to Islamic Law. Woman's rights would be lessened and any Non-Muslim would be forced to convert. They believe the government should have a strong control over the people and are against Privatization. They are right winged and would seek very close relationship with the Islamic Empire and other similar states. They are also very aggressive and are likely to expand if they ever enter Government. The Unity Party (UP) The name was stolen, or borrowed, from the Aus'tiana party of the same name. A center-left party it is rather liberal and secular. It is against expansion and would seek to increase the economy above everything else. Thinks Christians and Muslims should be treated equally and is pro-monarchy. Communist and Socialist Party of Irana (CPI) A far left party that would abolish the monarchy and get rid of any state religion. Expected to do well in the Senate but not the Chamber of Deputies. Against interaction with capatalist states like Jogen. Is expansionist but not like the former party. Devolution Party for Minorities (DPM) The Party wants a small government that gives power back to the people. The party wants to give more control to local councils and in the long run would like to hand over the entire Secretary of the Interior to local councils while the Government would focus on the outisde world. It is a Centre party and is expected to do very well considering it is the first time it has ever stood for election. Results Senate Results: The Senate has 40 seats s Senator governs an ostān. CIF-24 UP- 4 CPI- 1 DPM- 11 The results in the Senate could not of gone worse for the Unity Party. First of they lost two seats, both to the DPM, and their rival the CIF gained 5 seats and an undisputed majority in the Senate giving them control of local government and local economy. The CPI also had a bad year losing 9 seats all together. The DPM gained more sets than any party, 11 all together, making it the greatest winner in the Senate. The Unity Party commented saying that the Seante was never their strongest field and when it came down to government not the house that matters, which is true as the leader of the Chamber of Deputies has the power to over rule any law passed by the upper house. It was seven hours before the Chamber of Deputies had finished counting. People waited in their homes as the 323 constituencies went a different colour. 23 of the seats had no constituencies and were ''special seats'' for the minorities in the nation. 18 for Christians and 5 for Nentsians. The CIF had not bothered standing any one in these seats. Chamber of Deputies: 323 seats, 300 normal constituencies and 23 allocated among Christian and other minorities. CIF- 135 UP- 122 CPI- 7 DPM - 59 Once again the CPI did terribly dropping 18 seats, many say this proves Irana can no longer be called a leftist nation. The DPM gained a respectable 59 seats gaining over 18% of the seats. The UP gained 122 seats with a percentage of over 37%, a loss of 68 seats and a percentage drop of over 20%. Amazingly the Prime Minister lost his seat and the Deputy leader has had to take over his position as leader of the party until an election can be held. The CIF gained 41% of the vote with 135 seats, an improvement of 11% and only 10% short of a majority. Both the CIF and the UP have declared they arre unqilling to work with one another which leaves the DPM the kingmaker. The DPM leader Shahriyar Behram will decide if the CIF leader Mahamood Rajefigol or the UP leader Roshan Shahin becomes Prime Minister. He has been given a week to decide within that time the King has been asked by the three main party leaders, who are all Pro-Monarchy, to govern and he has accepted. Behram has laid out five things that he wants the main party to agree to before he will accept a joint government. * At least Four Cabinet positions to include; Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and Secretary of State for Energy and Climate and Deputy Prime Minister. * A promise to reduce Carbon Emissions and invest in both Nuclear and Wind technology. * An immediate Defence Review to decide the future of the Armed Forces. * To increase relations with the United Republic of Kovassia and strike a deal where the two nations can work together to use the nations natural enironment for cleaner energy. |
