![]() Celtan Broadcasting Corporation Reporting from Kerrie Nittia 1, 46Æ Referendum Underway for New Government Structure ![]() In the most historic vote of the people since the first republican election after winning our freedom from the oppressive eastern monarchy, Tanner Wilkes has taken lead on the formation of a referendum that will decide the structure of a new government. "The reformation will be all-encompassing and unbarred. We got out of an oppressive regime only to trade it for a new one, and while we went around spouting the tenets of democracy and the pillars of freedom to the world, we here in our own land suffered at the hands of mere tyrants. I have taken it upon myself to lead the way in the formation of a new system, a new structure of government that will, through transparency and democracy, prevent the corruption and abuse of power that has so tainted our nation." Reports of the remaining members of the former Executive Council fleeing to Tawasia have been confirmed for at least Timothy Barkley, who was reportedly seen being dragged out of a casino after drunkenly attacking a blackjack dealer. The polls are now open for the Celtan people to choose the form of their new democratic government, vote today! ![]() Celtan Broadcasting Service Reporting from Kerrie Fatahar 16, 46Æ Voting Over, Celtus to Become a United Democratic Republic ![]() Acting President Tanner Wilkes announced today that the votes are tallied, the decision has been made by the people, the Republic of Celtus is to become a United Democratic Republic! Polls show a very slim majority support for the system, with a significant 8% of all votes counted as Abstain or Spoiled. The announcement has hailed the criticism of international watchdog groups who claim that the polls are fraudulent and that the Acting President had a hand in influencing the final result of the tally. These concerns were brushed off by the interim government after a report was released containing the harsh and strict process used to tally the votes, as well as illuminating the fact that there was significant civilian oversight in the tallying of votes. Elections are set to begin in the new system in just a few months. Final results are below. ![]() Nathan Thomas, CBC Edited by Freeman, 2 Sep 2010, 07:12 PM.
