![]() Assembly of the Central Board of the Nentsian United Federovist Party At the assembly of the Central Board of the Federovist Party, the main policy making body of the party, several high ranking secretaries were discussing state issues. Although it was ''just'' a party assembly, what was decided at this assembly was decided for the entire Nentsian empire. After all, this party held the absolute majority of the seats in parliament. The chairman of this meeting was the President of the Nentsian United Federovist Party, Supreme Commissar Sergey Yermolayev. Among the Central Board secretaries were Ivan Borisenko, Artem Andreyev, Lavrenti Voronev and Boris Bugayev. Each of these men were once members of the Nentsian Communist Party, they all served the Nentsian military in their careers, some of them became business men, others had become succesful ISB executives or other high ranking officials in government agencies. The Federovist Party was a party of bureaucrats, bureaucrats with connections in influential government organizations and rich oligarchs. Now that the Party held an absolute majority, thanks to electoral fraud, there was really nothing that could stop them. Nentsia a democracy? Fine, as long as it doesn't oppose the interests of those in power. ''Our empire is currently very decentralized. It is split up in a 109 Oblasts, which have their own legislature and executive bodies, then there are more local communities governed by many more councils, and then we also have the Obshchinas, rural councils and communities. If we want to build on our national Federovist program, this system must be changed.'' explained Pavel Vanyev. The others in the Central Board nodded. ''The social democrats and libdems have imposed a policy of liberalization, of privatization, of 'self empowerment'. That is not how a government is supposed to be, walking away from its duties. The state must care for the society, especially in society as large as ours.'' agreed Grigory Chernin. In the following week, the Central Board wrote the articles that would reorganize the Nentsian empire. Local legislatures were removed, local executive bodies had to be handpicked by the Presidium of the Nentsian Tsardom (cabinet). That was the theory. In reality it would result in local communities that were ruled by bureaucrats that were approved by the Federovist Party, thus expanding the democratic power of the Nentsian United Federovist Party. Although communities lost their legislative self determination by this new decree, their was a huge amount of money spared by this cut of legislative personnel. The money that was spared was put in projects to invest in small communities that had really no economy going on. Some local representatives complained, of course as they would lose their jobs. But the local populations really did not care. Especially not when they realized how much money was poured in their community by the government in Vladimirsk. The news was dominated by the national reorganization of the great Supreme Commissar Yermolayev, burrying the news of several trade unions that have been banned. Its speakers were arrested, a civil rights movement office was raided by the ISB and a very critical journalist/columnist went missing since three days now. |
