OOC - I spent 20 minutes finding this. Just substitute Ikat for Asper and Il Duce for NIG.

ooc If you do what me and drake did. I control the Royal family and half of the HDA council, and he controls the more government side (Because his PM is in office) and the other half of the HDA council. IDK if that helped, but thats just one of the ways you can work out a Federation |

OOC: Ikat, OOC'ly each must have an equal say in the federation. Not that one person dictates how the other should roleplay. But IC'ly, you may play that one nation is dominant in the federation. Just makes me thinking, a better name for ''federating'' would be ''confederating''. As ''confederating'' is an agreement between several states to act as a whole to the outside world. |

OOC: If I remember right, that was a condition for me not to pursue NIG and Asper's same IP further at that time (with hindsight, it wasn't the best of ideas). Besides though, that's not a piece of legislation; it's only my word, and my word isn't law. There's nothing in Renatian law that states any federation has to be OOCly or ICly equal. Both/all nations must be owned and operated by separate players, but one player can easily have more authority than the other, ICly or OOCly. |

Larsson leaned back in his chair and thought about how to phrase himself, "Unfortunately I can't agree to straight equality. The reason for having the Dux position is for the ability to make quick decisions. To react instantly to problems that arise. However, I think that I should explain more how the political process works as of now. The Dux position is passed down, and it is one of the Dux's greatest responsibilities to wisely choose a successor. If for some reason the successor loses his mind, or in some way becomes unfit to rule he is removed and the Council of Regional Rectors put a replacement in power. As for the Regional Rector position. As long as each Regional Rector stays within the ideological boundaries of Integritism, they can be Capitalist like Gorg Bue-Schei, Socialist like Lady Kofo Ademola, Syndicalist like Chief Hizir, or however they see as the correct system for their government. As for war, each Regional Rector maintains the military in their border to a necessary readiness. When war comes troops are mobilised in a meeting with the Dux and Council of Regional Rectors. For example, in the Vertadorian war, Scotway contributed the most troops. And then nearly no Scots regiments were involved in the Invasion of Deira. I cannot abuse powers of bossing Regional Rectors around, or asking too much from them because it is un-Integritist, and would result in me losing my position. You see, the UIT has a system of checks and balances. I do want this union to go through. So how about this, Bernicia joins the UIT. The Monarch of Bernicia also become the Regional Rector. Bernicia remains a monarchy, and the Regional Rector position is not elected. The next second condition to our deal, as well as Integritist controlled Deira being ceded, is that this federation is with the Bernician monarchy. Therefore it is in the up most interest of the entire UIT to maintain your bloodline, in this modern era of republicanism. As for war, I do not ever intend on declaring war on another nation. And if I ever do, believe me you will already have your war speech prepared." Larsson was still settling in to his position as Dux, and he hoped he was making the right move. He had used the extensive Integritist military education plan to a great extent and had been studying Integritism, and governmental politics for years. He hoped that the federation would carry through, and thought about areas he could cede power. |

King Alcmund considered this. He would have as much freedom as he could reasonably hope for and all the bonuses of confederating (ooc - thanks nents )with the UIT. He was caught off balance by the mention of the royal bloodline and became embarrassingly aware of his lack of any heirs. That could not be helped for the moment, though."Very well then, I agree whole-heartedly with your conditions; my proposition was one of ambition and opportunism. We are now a federation!" |

Larsson shook Alcmund's hand strongly, both men were smiling. "Come to Aiberdeen when you can, and you can meet the other Regional Rectors. Or we can come to a Bernician city if you like", the Dux said to his newest colleague. |
