-Vladimirsk, 40Æ- After months of protesting, striking and demonstrating, Tsar Alexander today decided with the newly elected State Duma that his constitutional changes were ''too radical'' for the empire. Therefore, a number of changes will be made in the new electoral system. With the last changes, the Tsar took all the executive power, leaving only the lower house electable for the voters. The Tsar will remain a head of state with more influence, but he will have to cooperate with a cabinet that is formed by the parliament. The executive power is now shared between the voters, and the Tsar. Therefore, the latest election results for the State Duma, have been repealed and new elections will be held. Real elections, democracy has somewhat returned to the country. The elections promise to be exciting, as new parties will emerge. Many political parties dissolved themselves as a form of protest to the meaningless duma elections of last year. Now that the Duma has received its influence back, the elections are hot again. Last year, only 58% of the voters showed up to vote, it is expected that it will reach 90% this time. The parties enlisted for this election: Slavophile (lead by David Andonev) [major party] Ideology: Traditionalism Economic Position: Capitalism Social Position: Authoritarian Moral Position: Moderate conservative Statements - Economic: State Capitalism - Trade: Protectionism - Religion: Secularized - Minority: Residence - War: Pro Military Description: The Slavophiles are proud intellectuals, who want the country to follow its own path, different from the rest of Renatia. The Orthodox Church, the Czar and the Nentsian flag is all that matters to them. They are opposers of communism, and the communist era in Nentsia is the worst that could happen to the country in their eyes. They are opposite to communism, they promote nationalism and religion and they have capitalist ideas regarding the economy. The Slavophiles seek to unite all Slavs in one empire under the leadership of the Czar. The party enjoys great support among intellectuals, patriots and also the Orthodox Catholic groups in Nentsia. The combination of nationalism and religion by the Slavophiles has proved to be worth of gold in Nentsia. Sotsial-Demokraticheskaya Rabochaya Partiya (lead by Ivanna Kovacheva) [major party] Ideology: Social Democracy Economic Position: Slight capitalist Social Position: Egalitarian Moral Position: Liberal Statements - Economic: Interventionism - Trade: Protectionism - Religion: Secularized - Minority: Full Citizenship - War: Anti military Description: After the final collapse of Communism in Nentsia, many people were unsure of which party they should vote for. Many people believed everything would all get better now the dictatorship was over, and they didn't vote for the communists in order to keep it that way. The working classes, peasants and middle classes however, wanted to keep their social security, healthcare and trade union rights. Communism was some no longer an option, and the SDWP offers both leftism and democracy. The SDRP tries to draw a clear line between the SDRP and the Communist party by following a far more moderate line of politics, they can even be labeled as slight capitalist. Political analysts say the SDRP is capitalist, but with interventionist ideas. Nenetskiĭ Kommunisticheskoĭ partii (lead by Nikita Plovetshin) Ideology: Communism, Patriotism, Statism Economic Position: Communist Social Position: Very Authoritarian Moral Position: Slight liberal Statements - Economic: Planned Economy - Trade: Protectionism - Religion: Atheist - Minority: Full citizenship - War: Jingoist Description: The Communist Party was the only allowed party during the communist rule for 40 years. Vladimir Kalinin, Nikolay Datchesvkyanovich, Josip Kolodin and Mikhail Sebachev were notable presidents in Communist Nentsia. The totalitarian rule ended when president Nikov was overhtrown by an anarchist rebellion. Communism revived shortly after, in the form of party Secretary-General Sergey Zinev. Zinev's rule of terror eventually also led to his decline and he was deposed. More than 5 million Nentsians were killed by the Communist state. The Communist Party today still enjoys great popularity. Many workers and peasants, especially those living in the remote areas of the country, remain loyal to the party. They still remember the good things of communism, like the absence of unemployment, free goods and clear leadership. Sotsialisticheskaya Partiya (lead by Leonid Zyetakovsky) Ideology: Socialism Economic Position: Capitalist Social Position: Egalitarian Moral Position: Liberal Statements - Economic: State capitalism - Trade: Free trade - Religion: Secularized - Minority: Full citizenship - War: Pacifist Description: The Socialist Party is a new party. It claims to be a real party of the people, of the plebs. This party seeks to bring everyday problems of the regular civilian to the attention of the elitist political establishment. Alcoholism, homeless, unemployment, healthcare and education are the main issues of this party. This is at the same time also the most green party of Nentsia. Liberalʹno-Demokraticheskaya Partiya Progressa i Yedinstva (LDPPE) (lead by Pyotr Nenetskin) Ideology: Liberal democracy Economic Position: Capitalist Social Position: Liberal Moral Position: Liberal Statements - Economic: Interventionist - Trade: Free trade - Religion: Moralism - Minority: Full citizenship - War: Anti-military Description: This party is also very new. It is a classical LibDem party, a progressively minded right wing party that seeks to find a balance between social responsible policies and increasing the freedom of the market. This party claims it is the only party with the solution to the Nentsian economic downturn. |

Crushing defeat for the Communists, LDPPE is the big winner![]() Seats won in the Supreme State Duma. The Communist party, the NKP, has held a powerfull position in the Duma since 33Æ, and in 37Æ the NKP was even the biggest party by far. Now, they are punished for their bad economic policy and their war against Germania. Party leader and former advisor of Boris Panchyukhov had this to say about his loss: Today is the day that the right wing wins. I will have to accept that. In the end, the voter is always right. The Communist Party of Nentsia hasn't made its message clear enough to the voters and the LDPPE had a strong campaign. Once we were the biggest in the parliament, now we are the smallest. We will need to work hard in the future, but it will be worth the effort, I am sure of that. The other loss is for the Slavophile Party. They have been punished for supporting the undemocratic constitutional change done by the Tsar. The voters did not like that, and therefore the Slavophiles received less votes that usual. They also lost votes now that we have a new major party at the right wing: the LDPPE. The Liberal Democratic Party of Progress and Unity. The party is led by a young and energetic politician: Pyotr Vladimirovich Nenetskin. Nenetskin: Who could have expected this? First elections and our new party becomes the biggest. The voters have chosen for our plans of responsible liberalism, with a healthy balance of free market and social policy. We are going to cut in the government expenditures, we will cut tax and we will invest in education and our infrastructure. The voters have chosen for a dynamic, progressive and liberal government. This is the greatest day in the short history of Nentsian democracy. The LDPPE will try to form a majority government, and they need 150+1 seats for that in the Duma. Forming a stable coalition will be very hard according to some. They will need to form a 3-party coalition to get the 150+ seats if they want to avoid the big opponent: SDRP (labour). But then they would have to form a government with either the communists or the Slavophiles. It will be hard for the LDPPE to make a good decision here. Some analysts think a minority government would be an option here. In that case, the LDPPE would govern on its own. If that would happen, Nenetskin would most likely not become prime minister but ask someone else from the LDPPE party. |
