Capital Building, Kerrie, Sovereign Republic of Celtland "Alright, gentlemen. This is the last meeting we have on this topic so let's make it good," said Chairman Timothy Barkley, de jure leader of Celtland. The country was still run by a council of five men who founded the nation, the Chair position was more or less a formality and to give the people a say in who should moderate things. "We have three proposals on the table. Mr. Clemens, would you read them out, please." A short, rounded man stood at the side of the table and read dryly: "Mr. Wilkes has proposed expansion into the Reiland (plot 44), Mr. Green and Mr. Brown support expansion around Mount Boudica, and Mr. Dunham has put forward expansion into the Great Ocean archipelago." "Thank you Mr. Clemens for that particularly captivating speech," the Chairman said to a number of chuckles around the table. "Now let's put it to a vote and be done with it." "Now hold on," said Thomas Green. "We still haven't been able to discuss it appropriately to..." He was suddenly interrupted by a barrage of opposition from the rest of the table, a yelling match which only ended when Mr. Barkley raised his voice. "Gentlemen, calm down," the room finally fell quiet. "We have already discussed the merits of each proposal, and in my eyes it is quite apparent that we have only one option. The Reiland proposal is moot because there is a growing political power there which we do not wish to interfere with; the Mt. Boudica proposal is not viable because we'd have to take land from the Saltorrans or the Felisians in order to even connect with the land in the first place. The one option we have that is the simplest and most easy to execute is the Great Ocean archipelago. It'd piss the easterners off for sure, but the amount of slaves...ahem, laborers we could harvest from the islands simply cannot be ignored. Not to mention the fish!" Timothy stood and looked at each council member. "Who is in favor of Mr. Durham's proposal?" "Aye," said Mr. Durham. "Aye," agreed Mr. Wilkes. "Nay," Mr. Green huffed. "Nay," conceded Mr. Brown. Timothy smiled to himself; these decisions usually came to his final vote. "Aye," he said, finalizing the decision. "Launch the ships, I want the western part of the archipelago taken within a month. Dismissed." The council members and advisors shuffled out of the meeting room, talking amongst each other about the potential wealth that could be gained from the islands... |

![]() Celtan Broadcasting Service Live from Kerrie Ovar 9, 39AE ![]() The Sovereign Republic of Celtland has liberated the islands of the Great Ocean archipelago! The islands, now called Dunland, are a shining example of Celtish pride and hard work as we march forward to liberate the tribal peoples there and bring civilization to an otherwise savage land. For any interested, there are endless employment opportunities in the military, labor services, construction, supervisory, healthcare, and many other positions available. Camp Galway, Dunland, Celtland The first Celtish soldier landed on the rocky beach not a day ago, and already they had set up a camp as a central command center to coordinate the colonization, shipping, and construction operations of the Celtish mission in Dunland. So far 5,000 Celtish troops had been deployed using cleverly disguised shipping liners, distributed among the first few islands in order to set up some sense of the land and to clear out any unknown hostile forces before settlers and labor collectors moved in. As patrols were sent out to explore the unknown parts of the island, reports started coming back of contact with the indigenous population They did not speak Celte nor did the Celtish have any translators, they had no way of communicating and in some cases violence was quick to occur. One thing was sure: the colonization was going remarkably well... |

Brennus, People's Kingdom of CeltusThe King's ministers were in a panic. Never had they had to face such a crisis without the direction of a King, and what was transpiring to the south of the Kingdom definitely classified as a crisis in their eyes. If the Celtish annexation of Dunland went through, then Celtus would almost entirely lose access to the ocean; natural gas wouldn't be able to be shipped from the platform near Kaltorn, naval trade with JAFTA-compliant nations would cease, not to mention all other nations. A message had been sent to the King who was currently at his summer home in Gothill entertaining the Weilish Princess Scarlett Weilarch, but they got no response other than "The King has received your message." They fretted about meeting after meeting about what they should do... Camp Wicklow, DunlandCeltish soldiers were making good time hopping from island to island, setting up base camps and transfer stations for the influx of workers and labor collectors. So far there had been 25,000 new laborers transported back to the mainland with 5,000 kept on the islands to help with building their new civilized world. The officers laughed together as they commented on Celtus' lack of response to the annexation... |

Capital Building, Brennus, People's Kingdom of CeltusAfter much deliberation, it was finally decided amongst the foreign relations advisors to send a message demanding that the Celtish occupation of Dunland to stop. It was a preliminary move, more to gauge the Celtish's response than to accomplish anything. CommuniqueTo: Celtland From: People's Kingdom of Celtus We demand that you immediately cease all operations in Dunland, withdraw your forces, and return the indigenous population back to their homes or face further diplomatic consequences. Capital Building, Kerrie, Sovereign Republic of Celtland"Well this is interesting," said Timothy Barkley as he read a telegram he pulled from the fax machine. "It looks like the Celtans don't like our move on Dunland." He passed the sheet over to his fellow council member Tanner Wilkes, who chuckled a bit and passed it on. "This is the strongest response we get? We're months into the operation," Wilkes laughed. "They don't even acknowledge us as a legitimate state, how worse can these 'diplomatic consequences' get?" Leonard brown looked at the telegram. "I say we don't even respond to it, keep doing what we're doing and see how they like it," he said, passing it on. Charles Dunham picked it up off of his desk, commenting: "I agree. Nothing has or will be put behind this half-assed threat. The benefits we're getting from Dunland are too big to just give up because they ask nicely." "Agreed," said Timothy Barkley curtly. "In fact, tell them to speed up operations. Send extra men if they have to." Camp Wexford, DunlandYet another camp was set up in the archipelago's largest island, the sheer size of it necessitating such a thing. Operations continued to run smoothly, despite a few bumps in the road where a single villager to entire tribes had to be wiped out for their refusal to submit to Celtish ownership. It was a quick method of evolution, really. The submissive peoples were rewarded with an easier time than the resistors, something which the indigenous usually got after a while and began to act accordingly. More men were shipped out from the ports around Kerrie on the same ships sent back to transport fresh new laborers to the republican nation. |
