![]() Stock Market Stabilizes – Is This a Temporary Reprieve? The Tawasian Stock Exchange ended its ongoing slide yesterday, posting small gains when it closed for the night. The economic situation appears to have stabilized, at least for now. However, prominent economists have warned to not believe that the TSE’s rise in value is indicative of any long-term prosperity. The war situation is still precarious, and any major change could have severe impacts on world trade, with predictable results for export or tourism oriented nations such as Tawasia. The price of essential goods such as oil and most food have risen considerably, causing hardships for Tawasians everywhere. Prime Minister Konrote has stated that measures taken by the government to ration certain basic commodities such as flour and corn have limited the rise in prices and helped thousands of families survive. Nevertheless, a scheduled protest outside Government House drew several dozen people, who blocked traffic for a few hours. |

OOC: Yes, we're doing that already. But that won't magically make my economic crisis go away. As for oil, Tawasia gets it from Deltoria, so it doesn't really need any more. To: The HDA From: PM Rodney Konrote Thank you for reaffirming our trade agreements. Tawasia will not forget the HDA's generosity. |

![]() Surprise Coup in the PPT In a shock overnight vote yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Rana Fromberg deposed Prime Minster Rodney Konrote in a vote of no confidence initiated by dissent within the People’s Party of Tawasia over his economic policies. Over the past several months, the stagnation of Tawasia’s economy has led to increased criticism of Konrote’s handling of economic policy. Tawasia’s first budget deficit in a decade had already led to a huge drop in support of Konrote from several of the PPT’s factions. The key breaking point came last week when Konrote announced increases in VAT taxes to cover the deficit. Fromberg, who was quoted as recently as last week saying that she would not seek the Prime Ministership, joined forces with the PPT’s free-market supporters to call for a vote of no confidence last night in a special session of Parliament. Supported by a majority of the PPT as well as two independent MPs, she was appointed the youngest Prime Minister in Tawasia’s history with a sweeping mandate. Tawasia's new PM, Rana Fromberg |

![]() Tawasia Pride Festival Ends a Success ![]() The annual Tawasian Pride Parade was held today, marking both the anniversary of landmark legislation providing full equal rights for members of the Tawasia’s LGBT community decades ago as well as signaling the end of the weeklong Tawasia Pride Festival. The week saw numerous events ranging from live musical concerts to a speech by Prime Minister Rana Fromberg on the topic of equality and tolerance in Tawasia. Her appearance at the festival was widely seen as a response to the recent rise of certain conservative religious groups, who have condemned the Pride Festival as immoral. This year’s festival was widely seen as a success, with organizers estimating that over a half million people attended. Thousands of overseas visitors came to Tawasia for the event, notably including Seasca’s King Aidan II and his husband, both rarely seen outside of their home country. |
