West of Zeray, Deira A Deiran jeep approached the Integritist lines. Colonel Mitchell was informed, and knew that it would be his opposing commander. The jeep was escorted to the command center where the military men had a chat. "We'd like to give you the opportunity to rethink my previous proposal", said Colonel Steying. Colonel Mitchell was more diplomatic given the turn of events; but he was a straight-talker. He said, "We can stop the shooting. My proposal is that Zeray is yours, and the land we're currently occupying is ours." He indicated roughly on a map: ![]() Northern Desert, Deira After the intense fighting the Deirans retreated. Chief Hizir had been personally involved in the conflict; and he had great success. The man of the hour was Chief Hizir's Son, Hazim. He had orchestrated the conflict and was set to receive a medal for his exploits. Chief Hizim had met the Dux's desires with a stellar performance. Colonel Leodwalding glanced at his colleague who nodded. "Colonel Mitchell, we will accept this term. We will cede the land you are occupying to the UIT... on one condition: the UIT gives the Deiran government 35 million dollars as a peace offering. What do you say?" |

Colonel Mitchell took a second to think. The offer was reasonable. He thought of where the money could go and so had an idea. "We'll give you 35 million dollars worth of humanitarian aid. That being rebuilding of infrastructure, food and water, medicine and other pharmaceuticals... What do you say?" |
