One month later Pavel Aleksov was waiting at the airport when the Tawasian jet landed. This was is first independent assignment since being appointed, and he was understandably nervous. Approaching the disembarking diplomat, he introduced himself. "Welcome to Betsstarda, I am the Minister for Foreign Affairs here, Pavel Aleksov. Please, follow me." He led the delegate through the airport to a private entrance, where a motorcade was waiting. "I thought we could have a working lunch." He said, as they entered the car. "Do you have any dietary requirements?" |

Minister of International Relations Angela Wettin smiled. "A working lunch would be splendid. I don't have any special dietary requirements; thank you for asking." |

"Excellent. We'll travel straight there then." After a car journey in which polite small talk was made, they arrived at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Once inside, they were led into a conference room, where a spread was laid out for them. Sitting opposite each other, they tucked in to a meal of roasted chicken with white wine sauce and side vegetables. "So." Said Aleksov, taking a sip of red wine. "Tell me more about Tawasia." |

"Well," Wettin replied, "as I'm sure you're aware, Tawasia is certainly not a world power, but our government is looking to expand our connections with other nations worldwide. Mainly economic connections, but we're open to other arrangements as well." She sipped her wine. "Our... unique economic situation allows us to offer certain services unavailable in much of Renatia, mainly involving our financial sector. But we've got a fairly diverse economy, with tourism and industry playing a large part, as well." Pausing for a moment, she took a bite of chicken. |

"It's good to hear you're interested in economics, as I see scope for us to work together." Replied Aleksov. "Because our nations differ so much, their economies are very different too. Because of that, they could interlink well. I would like to propose that we promote more trade and development between our two economies." |

Wettin nodded. "That is an excellent idea. Perhaps we can work out some sort of free trade agreement." |

"Hmmm...yes. That would work well. In light of this good start, I would like to come to my next point of discussion. I would like to offer a mutual defence pact between our nations, as I feel that a policy of bilateralism is one that we should look to exploit. As is obvious, Jogen is large, and Tawasia is small. I would like to propose that Tawasian forces be allowed to train on the large and varied territories of the Confederacy, including for Air training. In return, we would like to either lease a military base, or be allowed to use an existing one in Tawasia to re-fuel and re-supply." |

Angela Wettin hesitated for a moment. "Our armed force's needs are satisfied by the training facilities available within Tawasia. In addition, we are not looking to enter into any military alliances at this point in time. I don't feel that there would be much to gain from supporting Jogen's troops on our soil." |
