Enrique del Campo sat with Chancellor Carmen Rosales and Foreign Minister Ezequiel Lomas on the President's personal plane headed for Os'prais, in Aus'tiana. His daughter and Lomas' daughter, both young political activists, would be attending the trip to see what a foreign conference was like. The two were watching a film on the plasma high-definition television; Rosales was asleep; and Lomas was reading a newspaper. It looked like del Campo was just sleeping as well; but in reality, he was thinking. Hard. He was having flashbacks like he had for the past week. He had thought of his childhood and how his good friend Venceslás Jaquez was innocent, despite the perpetually wayward hair and the innumerable firearms he had received from his grandfather, who had been a Wing Colonel in the Air Force. Now Venceslás had helped kill thousands of people and ruin the country's largest airport. How did this all happen? He did wonder constantly, because no matter what he tried to distract himself with he couldn't get rid of it. It seemed that everything reminded him of Venceslás, his childhood and the airport. Often he cried himself to sleep. On the other side of the conflict, Chairman-General Venceslás Jaquez sat with Secretary-General Cebrián Riquelme on his own personal airplane headed for the same locale. Both men sat in their ridiculously over-punctuated uniforms, with all sorts of awards. Both carried the medal that signified them as a Hero of Tirentya. The two would attend the conference with the Commissioner of Foreign Affairs, Ignacio Pareja, who also had an over-punctuated uniform but not the Hero of Tirentya medal. Riquelme was relaxed and Pareja was watching football; but Jaquez was thinking as well. He remembered his childhood, growing up in the upper middle-class area of Iboreos. Enrique was darker, tall and thin as a Frenco; whereas Venceslás was lighter, short and strong as a Gerano. How they got to be good friends, no one would be able to tell; they disagreed on politics (Venceslás is Stalinist, remember?), and so they agreed to disagree. But now he really regretted ever making Weapons One through Eleven. He now hated all of those years, running from the federal authorities and killing thousands. He knew he was a monster. And he no longer wanted to be. He hoped Enrique would forgive him but he doubted it. Why would he, Venceslás reasoned, when I just killed several thousand people and ruined Aquasica's premier airport? But they were great friends in childhood. Would those memories rekindle the friendship? |

OOC skipping to the summit![]() A young Aus'tianian diplomat walked up to the podium, and announced the beginning of the summit. "Welcome everyone to the Tirentyan-Aquasican Peace & Reconciliation Commission, a diplomatic summit held for the purpose of determining the future of Tirentyan-Aquasican relations and a solution to the armed conflict that has arisen in these past few months. I would also like to personally welcome everyone to the city of Os'prais, a center for diplomacy and international relations that has hosted multiple diplomatic summits in the past. Attending delegates are as follows: Chairman-General Venceslás Jaquez, Secretary-General Cebrián Riquelme, and Commissioner Ignacio Pareja are representing Tirentya. President Enrique del Campo, Chancellor Carmen Rosales and Foreign Minister Ezequiel Lomas are representing Aquasica. President Barita Teban of Rondora will be arbitrating the summit with the assistance of Aus'tianian diplomat Heila Ar'len of the UNP. Reich Minister Herta Weber of the Germanian Reich, Council Members Alvin Grendel and Aldrich Grendel of the Holy Dragon Alliance, and Comandante Alejandro Cordoba of Vertadoria are observing. I pass the podium over to President Barita Teban to begin the talks. Thank you." An applause came from the audience. Edited by Freeman, 12 Apr 2010, 04:09 AM.

Barita took a deep breath. This was truly the first act she would do internationally in her career. She accepted the podium, and began to speak. "Welcome, people from many nations. Today we, as an international community, prepare to try and solve the conflict that has arisen in Aquasica and Tirentya. Hopefully we can come to a peaceful and non-violent solution." |

Heila Ar'len walked up politely to the Rondoran President and whispered in her ear, "get them to state their case first, then we'll cross-examine and see if we can eventually find a peaceful solution both parties would like." |

Barita nodded at the adviser, she had never acted in a judicial-like position before, "First the cases shall be stated. Shall the members of Tirentya care to begin?" |
