"Instead of letting each nation decide how much they contribute, which may result in unfair burdens on some nations, why not agree to contribute a certain percentage of the nation's military assets?" Offered Krathitis.

"The Aus'tianian Armed Forces has offered a fifth of its military resources, however we understand some nations are incapable of reaching this benchmark and would tolerate a 10% minimum contribution on the part of all nations, save for those who wish to contribute more," Baltar Sha'krios replied.

"At this point in time Brishton would not be able to contribute any military resources. Maybe we could lower that minimum to 7%?"

''Yes, Nentsia objects the 10% minimum'' yelled Andonev.

''10% is way too much. That would mean we have to send in 150 000 troops...for a peacekeeping alliance!

Why not put it on 2%?
Small nations would not have to bring up much and can still help, while larger nations such as Nentsia don't have to send in hundreds of thousands of troops. 2% would set the Nentsian minimal contribution on 30 000 troops. Then with the contribution of all other nations, the AFUNP is big enough.

The AFUNP doesn't need that much soldiers.
The Jogen army would also bring up at least 20 000 (?) men.''

OOC if you have 1.5 million soldiers, with your defense budget you're only spending $79,061.97 per soldier, not to mention that your equipment (350 battleships?) does not fit your spending.

"It is my personal belief that we must contribute wholeheartedly and unhesitatingly to this alliance. However we also recognize that some nation's militaries are unable to sacrifice so much." Baltar Sha'krios stated. "We support a 2% minimum contribution of all member states in the UNP."

OOC:

More than enough money. The fact that the US spends more than 450 billion on a 1 million men army doesn't make my army unrealistic.

Russia currently has 1 million men in service, and spends a little more than 33 billion on the military.

What you forget, is military production. A big military, is not biggest cost. It is military production and war efforts that cost a lot of money.
The US spends roughly $420 billion more than russia does, on armies that have the same sizes. Russia's equipment is a bit old, lower quality, but still pretty good. The US equipment is very up to date, reliable and very good.

So why does the US spend so much more?
Because they have the largest military production in the world. They constantly perticipate in wars (Iraq...Iraq..Vietnam...Korea...Afghanistan...Yugoslavia etc).

The Russian army production and arms manufracturing dropped with more than 50% after the collapse of the Soviet union, and it is still very low. No wonder russian arms manufracturers sell the tanks, rockets, RPG's and AK's to the black market.

The Chinese armed forces have more than 3 million people in service, with an annual budget of $80 billion.

So my Nentsian armed forces, don't have a gap in the budget.

Quote:

Availeble manpower for military duty: 35 000 000 (females and males)
Currently in Service: 1 550 050
Military budget: $122.6 billion (19% Government spending)
Spending p/Soldier: $79 094.22

PS The Chinese navy, has more than 400 battleships, and almost a 100 submarines in service.
