Username: Aerozier Character Number: 1st Name: Varia Age: 17 Turns Gender: Female Rank: Weyrling Location: Relasun Weyr Sexual Preference: Heterosexual Partner: None Appearance: Not exactly the tallest girl, standing at 5'5", but she's not the shortest either. Varia's what most people would consider "average" in terms of appearance. No, no one will take a glance at her and stare, but the same person won't be reeling in disgust, either. The girl doesn't mind being just "average". Hey, it's not like every person in the world can be beautiful, right? Anyway, moving on. Varia's not totally fit, capable of sprinting long distances, and is in fact at an average, healthy weight, but not all muscle (though she does have some[which would let her sprint those long distances]). Varia walks with a bouncing gait, going up and down with every step, bobbing up and down, just that sort of thing. It makes her look rather cheery, and her happy looking face adds to that as well. She doesn't really have anything that most boys would consider "pretty" either, and has a more mundane build, having a bit of fat (who would want to be a skinny, starved looking girl anyway?) and some muscle, as mentioned earlier. Varia's skin tone is on the medium side, tanned a bit from working in the sun, but she has no freckles or dimples or just about any other mark, save for the birth mark on her ankle. Her face is a bit rounded, though not "circular" or completely full of flesh. Her face angles inward a bit as it approaches her chin. Varia's face is the same skin tone the rest of her is, no freckles, dimples, nothing really. Her eyes are a shade of dark brown, and her hair comes down to her shoulders and is slightly wavy. Personality: A calmer, level-headed girl who prefers to sit back and observe rather than make quick decisions about things. Varia's not one to jump into any sort of situation or just... whatever. She likes to sit and think more than anything, judging her options before making a move, and she's pretty careful about it, too. That's not to say that she's slow about making any sort of action (well, sometimes, she is, but not always); Varia can quickly come up with something and try to handle something whenever the need arises, but most of the time, she takes her time. Varia's a pretty laid back person, loving to lounge about and just enjoy herself, reading, sitting by the Weyrlake and thinking, just anything that allows her to reflect on things or thinks about stuff. But she doesn't mind having a bit of fun, socializing and chitchatting with other candidates. But she can find it difficult to make any true friends, being particularly awkward around non peers, people Varia thinks she can't really relate to. She can even be socially retarded around others her age, pausing and stuttering (which she does with just about everyone she feels uncomfortable around, really) on occasion as she talks. But she tries her best to fix this. She's the kind of person who tries her best to fix just about anything, particularly stopping conflicts (especially among her fellow candidates). Varia loathes fighting, and oftentimes she'll go out of her way to stop it through any means possible, intervening, bringing others to help her, anything she thinks will help. She often tries to stop fights herself, but doesn't mind any help that comes her way. However, she can get fed up with trying to stop a fight, though, and if Varia knows two people do it constantly, she'll just go on her way like nothing happened. Varia is also very clumsy. She tends to trip on her feet near constantly, and stuff sometimes slips out of her hands and falls. No, she's not the most graceful person at all, tripping, falling, dropping things, etc. Give Varia something fragile and tell her to take it somewhere and she'll probably drop it halfway there. And it's not going to end up very nice. Varia's easily embarrassed by things like this as well. In fact... just about every mistake she makes burns in her mind for a long time. Yes, she's easily embarrassed, it's not good for her, but she can't help it. Even the slightest mistakes can have her ashamed for quite a long time. History: Born at Relasun Weyr to the Brownrider R'vel and Greenrider Varas. She was the result of a Flight, as was her younger brother Rytonal. She and her brother were sent to be fosterlings at a young age, each living with different weyrfolk. She rarely met her brother, but she definitely knew who he was. Varia usually saw him on special holidays and occasions, talked to him some, and went on with her life, forming more of an acquaintanceship with him than a brother-sister bond. It didn't matter to her too much, though. So, Varia lived her life like just about every other child in the Weyr, doing her chores and minding her own business, though she explored and ran around with others when she was younger, about 7 Turns of age. As she grew older, she started dabbling in Crafts, mainly Tannercrafting, Harpercrafting, and Beastcrafting. But, to this day, she hardly remembers a thing about them. At the age of 14 Turns, Varia decided that she wanted to be a dragon candidate. Dragons were the most loved of all Pern's creatures, and she heard wonderful things about them, not to mention she figured dragonriding would be a worthwhile "career". Varia did all the required chores, OK'd it with her foster parents, and went on to become a dragon candidate. She Stood at her first Hatching a few months after she had signed up for Candidacy. But she never Impressed at a Hatching. She Stood at many, many Hatchings, and found her dragon at one of Kaith's Hatchings.
