Annuminas stood before her in the ruins in whoch it had stood for many years. The buildings were in wrecks although she could see the start of the work being done on the city. She could see the soldiers trying to turn back the clock and restore the city. She could see the effort being made to restore the home of the Dunedain. She knew that once this was done the Dunedain would have a home. Everything that stood before her would be changed as part of the new era of peace. She knew all of this and still she wept for the destruction that had cost her people years in the wilderness. She felt ashamed to be crying but her heritage made her sad and there seemed to be no one about so she stayed silent in the shadows of some nearby trees.

She had once again left her clan behind to go up North and she could not resist going to Arnor in which she had been born. However she had not expected to come as far as Annuminas a city she had never seen before and now she was here the emotion was overwhelming. She took a few deep breaths as she turned and leant against the tree the tears fresh on her face. This was the home of her people and her people had been forced from it. Elessar's tale had touched her more than she dared to say. She didn't want people believeing that she was weak. She didn't even tell her own mother about what she had been told.

She made her way over to one of the buildings which was a little distance from the city. No one was working on that one yet so she took a look inside and she noticed it seemed to be the remains of a little house. She leant against the stone sadly looking around.

With the order from Estel to re-build the city of the Dunedain, came the curiosity from Elladan to go see it. He did not revel in the sight of seeing what he knew was once a grand city in ruins, but the moment his feet touched the soil of the Arnor lands, he closed his eyes and allowed his senses to take over. It had been beautiful once, and it was still beautiful now, he could feel and see such things in his minds eye. He was sure, that when Estel – Aragorn, Ellessar, the names he was now given meant nothing to Elladan, the man would always be Estel, the Hope of Men – had finished his work here, the city would return to it’s former glory, and the Dunedain would be able to have a home of their own that was not the trees and the wild.

He knew many loved the wild, Estel had at one point, and he suspected that he still did. The title of King was a lot for him to bear, and Elladan had the sneaking suspicion that he missed – or at least craved – the live of a Ranger still. Confident that Estel would figure out the balance on his own, Elladan proceeded further within the ruined city. He wanted to see exactly what was going to change, so he could marvel in it even more when everyone was done. He was only aware that he had ventured to the very edge of the city when the workers voices faded, and he saw a lone woman standing within one of the wrecked buildings.

“The city that was once destroyed
Will be restored to glory gold
The horrid past will soon be void
And future children may it hold
For years to come and blessings be
From the king and people of the white tree”

His voice faded and Elladan smiled, already feeling a lot calmer around the emotional place, raising a hand to the young woman. “Hail, mellon” he called before walking through the building a stopping at the impact the place had over him. “Such a saddened face should not be held. Evil events may have happened in this city, but we must all look to a brighter future now.”

Such a saddened face should not be held. Evil events may have happened in this city, but we must all look to a brighter future now.”

Haeleana turned to see a young man standing before her. She turned fully and watched him for a moment listening to his words calmly and taking a little comfort in them. He could see why she was sad straight away and although that was altogether obvious it still made her smile that he was trying to ease her sadness. She managed a small smile. "Mara Aure" she said greeting him with a nod of her head recognising the elvish he spoke immediately. "Elen síla lumenn' omentielvo" she said softly. She took a few steps forward. "Indeed it saddens my heart to see this city in ruins. Once it is restored then shall the hearts of the Dunedain be brought home" she said with a smile at the city.

"O man dôr túliel le?" she asked watching the man waiting for him to speak again. Her eyes roved over him. Indeed he was good looking and her eyes were drawn to his once more. She looked over at the city again but she found herself watching the stranger's face. "What brings you to this city?" she asked. "Have you been sent by Elessar?" she asked with interest. Her eyes were bright with hope that yet more help was coming to their city.

"Im Haeleana" she spoke again.

OOC Translation

Mara Aure - Hello
Elen síla lumenn' omentielvo - A star shines on the hour of our meeting
O man dôr túliel le? - From what land do you come
Im - I am

Elladan allowed the short blink of surprise that he was replied to in Elvish, fluent Elvish he might note, it was strange for anyone who was not of Elvish decent to be able to speak their language so fluently. It was a nice change, and e enjoyed the language for a moment before replying. “It shall be a nice sight to see the city restored to it’s former glory, and nicer for the Dunedain to be able to return to a home that is truly theirs.” He almost couldn’t wait to see it restored, another piece brought back from the sadness and the darkness, another part of Middle Earth that could return to how it used to be. Even after six years, they were still rebuilding, and whilst it made him sad that it was taking so long, he knew it would all be worth it in the end.

“I originally come from Imladris, but I have been staying in whatever city that needs a healer in recent years” There was still so much work to be done, and his supplies were running thin, which caused him to make a note to go and gather some perhaps on his way home. “Nay, I was not sent by the King, but I was told of this place and I wished to see it, beautiful even in such a ruined state, I can only dream of how it shall be when the buildings are finished” A small smile graced his features before he bowed lightly towards the female, remembering her name and smoothly returning his own. “I am Elladan, pleasure to meet you, Haeleana”

“It shall be a nice sight to see the city restored to it’s former glory, and nicer for the Dunedain to be able to return to a home that is truly theirs.”

Haeleana smiled almost shyly and looked at the city with a sad smile. "It will probably take several years but it's a relief to know the work has started" she said with a shaky sigh. She turned her attention back to him as he continued to speak. Her eyes glittered with joy as he told her of whence he came.

“I originally come from Imladris, but I have been staying in whatever city that needs a healer in recent years”

"You are a Healer too?" she asked with a smile. "That makes two of us here for I have recently passed my training to be one" she chuckled. "And a traveller too. A man after my own heart although once this city is rebuilt I doubt whether I will still travel. Perhaps a few of the Dunedain will, it is in their nature now do you not agree?"

“Nay, I was not sent by the King, but I was told of this place and I wished to see it, beautiful even in such a ruined state, I can only dream of how it shall be when the buildings are finished”

"Ay now that I agree with" she said folding her arms and looking at the city. "It is a sorry state that Arnor got into to end up like this" she said calmly. Her eyes filled with tears again and she bowed her head hiding them though it was slightly evident in her voice "I'm sorry..." she said shakily wiping her tears. "The city's history means a lot since I heard the story from Elessar" she said raising her head again once the tears had been wiped.

“I am Elladan, pleasure to meet you, Haeleana”

Surprised Haeleana turned to him. "Would you be the same Elladan, brother to Queen Arwen?" she asked him curiously

Elladan nodded and reached out to gently run his fingers along the dusty wall of the house, his senses tingling with many feelings and emotions that had ran through the city before the brutal attack on it was made. “It may not take as long as you think, I hope that at least some of the Dunedain can return soon, if not all”

“Yes, I am a healer. I learnt from my father, and from others so that I may be able to heal both my own kind and humans.” He couldn’t help but smile when the sadness seemed to leave her for the brief moment. “I do agree. I have met many Dunedain who would much prefer the wild and the trees than the walls and brick of cities”

He shook his head quickly enough and stepped forward. “It is alright to be sorrowful over such a sad tale. I hope that Elessar tells it to many of the Dunedain who do not already know, such as yourself, so that they may come here and respect the place, or even help it’s restoration” It was an idea, to spread the knowledge of history, it was the only way they learnt afterall. If you knew nothing, you repeated everything, and years walking Middle Earth had proved that time and time again.

Smiling lightly at the question, Elladan couldn’t help but break out into a grin. “Aye, my Lady, that would be me.”

“It may not take as long as you think, I hope that at least some of the Dunedain can return soon, if not all”

Haeleana smiled at him happy that he at least understood why she was feeling quite emotional here. She looked away a little embarrassed before turning her attention to the house. She noticed him caressing the wall and wondered how long he had been in Middle Earth. She did not venture to ask as that was of little importance. She looked around the place leaning her head against the wall. "I wonder who lived here once...whether they lived to run away or whether they were slaughtered" she said calmly. The thought of it turned her heart to thoughts of darkness.

“Yes, I am a healer. I learnt from my father, and from others so that I may be able to heal both my own kind and humans.”

She smiled. "I trained with my clan, travelling around to different places. I grew up not far from Rivendell but my birthplace was Arnor. It's in my blood" she said calmly. "For all I know I could have been born not far from here but nevetheless I have travelled often around the different lands of Middle Earth"

“I do agree. I have met many Dunedain who would much prefer the wild and the trees than the walls and brick of cities”

"I am not sure whether I would be one of them. I want a home so much but..." she stopped realising that she was revealing a little more of herself than she wanted although she was sure that she could trust this Elladan especially if he was a son of Lord Elrond. She looked down at her feet again, her face became an expressionless mask.

“It is alright to be sorrowful over such a sad tale. I hope that Elessar tells it to many of the Dunedain who do not already know, such as yourself, so that they may come here and respect the place, or even help it’s restoration”

She smiled at the thought of more Dunedain being aware of this place. She closed her eyes as she smiled hoping that soon the Dunedain could come home. A few stray tears glistened in her eyes as she slowly opened them to see the house in ruins before her. In her mind though she could see it in its former state with happy children playing around it.

“Aye, my Lady, that would be me.”

Haeleana merely smiled in response happy that she had guessed him right

‘I would like to think that the family who once lived here might be able to return, maybe not the same generation, but the same name, at least” he murmured softly, reluctantly pulling his hand away from the wall and cutting off the emotions and the visions that had almost plagued his mind’s eyes. “The thoughts of this building are happy ones, I do not like to think that this family met their end so abruptly.”

“Ah, so you have returned to your birth town.” He murmured thoughtfully “You must be very talented indeed having grown up and learnt from those within your clan. I have met many healers from the dunedain, and each one had taught me something new about the aliments of the human body. I like to think that because of them, I am as good as healer as I am now”

Blinkign and looking to her, Elladan allowed a small frown before a nod of recognition was added. “Everyone wants a home, somewhere to belong, even if many of your race decide to live within and fall in love with the Wild, they still crave a home. I hope that you find that here, Haeleana”

Glancing up, stilling slightly, although there was no need for alarm, simply the change in the wind that brought different images and thoughts into his mind, Elladan smiled. “When do you plan on going back, my lady?”

‘I would like to think that the family who once lived here might be able to return, maybe not the same generation, but the same name, at least”

"Perhaps" Haeleana spoke with a small smile. "I hope that someday a family whether it would be a new or the same one, could live in peace here with no threats about them." Her voice was soft and tinged with the hope that she spoke of.

Haeleana blushed. "I...I have just passed my training so I personally doubt that I am very talented. I know my herbs and the procedures that follow is all" she admitted shyly. "I just do my job. It heals my heart to heal people" She looked back up at him when he spoke of them teaching things. "I would love the Healers of Gondor to teach me thigns but somehow I always seem to get distracted. Also I admire the healings of the elves though they are gone. Your father's healing abilities were legendary, sir" she said with a smile. "I am sure you are just as talented"

“Everyone wants a home, somewhere to belong, even if many of your race decide to live within and fall in love with the Wild, they still crave a home. I hope that you find that here, Haeleana”

Haeleana smiled up at him, her heart overflowing with affection for this man. She had never met someone who had been so kind as to care for her as such before. Well the King Elessar was as kind but that was to all subjects in fairness. She looked up at the taller man and nodded gratefully. "I thank you, sir" she said. "Where do you dwell now that your father has gone? Or are you a wanderer too?" she asked curiously.

“When do you plan on going back, my lady?”

"To my encampment? I do not know...I..find myself constantling wandering at the moment"

Elladan quickly decided to stay silent for a moment, rather than shatter the hope that the female edain held, it was the lack of hope that peace would last forever. There would always be evil in the world, and whilst they may not necessarily cause such trouble as Sauron did, it did not change the fact that peace did not last forever.

He soon wiped the forlorn look off his face and grinned at the small blush that had crossed her face. “Knowing the procedures is probably the greatest talent you may ever acquire.” Slipping his hands into the pockets of his robes, Elladan made a grin before glancing upwards. “I never used to be as good as my father, and I’m confident that he would be able to outdo me, but I remember times when I used to knock myself out cold when mixing the wrong herbs together during my lessons.”

It was a fond memory for him, one that had incurred his father’s wrath of being so foolish, but also one that caused him to smile. “I dwell where I am needed. Rohan and Gondor have both been kind to me, and my brother, although Gondor has been my home such as late, to keep my sister company, along with my other brother” he spoke softly, glancing upwards with a grin. “Someone has to play the role of annoying relative”
