"Celarwen...I'm sorry but since you seem reluctant to obey my rules and stay in Minas Tirith -" "Father!" "Celarwen not only did you run away the first time but when I ordered you to stay you went gallivanting to Osgiliath!" "That is still in Gondor father...it is within reach of the city!" "Nevertheless you still disobeyed me. As such I have contacted your uncle in Eriador. He is staying in Imladris now the elves are gone. He is waiting for you. I am sending you to live with him until you can learn to behave" "What? Father please!" Here she was, lost in the cold and barren land of Eregion. She had no clue where she was exactly in Eregion but she was now seriously regretting her foolish decision to leave Imladris. Looking back now she should have stayed and put up with her uncle's lessons after all. She hated them more than most things in this world but at least she was safe there. She didn't know how far from Imladris she was only that she was in a different land. She knew she should have turned back once she reached unfamiliar territory but travelling was a sickness for her as well as a curse and she hadn't been able to stop her curiosity. Now she was alone with Ithilia in the dark of the walls around her. She shuddered as she approached. Ithilia seemed to be restless and she started tossing about. Celarwen ran a hand through her mane, an action which usually meant she would calm down but not now. Celarwen dismounted and tried to comfort her horse. But the more she led Ithilia to the doors the more the horse struggled. Eventually when she gave a particulalry strong pull on the reins Ithilia reared up sending Celarwen stumbling backwards. She fell and with a splash landed in the shallow waters. Her chest hurt from Ithilia's hooves and she could only watch as her horse turned tail and fled. She looked around nervously as she climbed out of the waters. She looked where Ithilia had gone. "Ithilia!" she cried out frightened. "Ithilia come back" |

The dark figure straightened from his crouch over the tracks he was following. With a flick of his wrist, the Uruk-hai and Wargs around him went silent. The voice sounded again, echoing off the walls the dwarves had carved from the Misty Mountains so long ago. He emerged from the crag where his quarry had wallowed into the open air. In the distance, he saw the standing pool before the crumbled and ruined Doors of Durin. Nothing moved. His gray eyes flickered across the horizon, but there was nothing there. He nearly turned back when he saw a smudge flit over the corner of his eye. Some poor creature had gotten itself lost within reach of the Watcher in the Water and a Lieutenant of Barad-dur. He made his way over towards the West Gate of Moria, but making sure to stay well back from the water’s edge. The “creature” he had seen from a distance was a girl with dark hair and light eyes. He recognized her at once for what she was: a Gondorian. A cruel, twisted smile that foreshadowed the oncoming of pain flashed across his lips. A dark fire kindled in his sea-gray eyes. “You are lost and alone.” It was not a question. |

You are lost and alone Celarwen turned around to hear a voice in the darkness. She could barely make out a figure. She stayed where she was knowing that rushing in without her sword, which was on Ithilia, could potentially cost her her life. She didn't like the tone the figure was using but she decided that she would probably be better off staying at a safe distance. She didn't know how to respond to that. She didn't even realise there would be anyone here. She knew the dwarves had gone a while ago. She had come to the conclusion that this must be Moria in which case she was in trouble. "That I am sir but I can manage" she said slightly shakily trying to fill her voice with confidence that she did not feel. She took a few steps back away from the water. She looked back at the fear and a shiver ran down her back and her body became ice cold. There was something about the figure that she really didn't like. "Who are you?" she asked frightened |

He watched her feet closely as they moved towards the water. It would not serve his purpose if the Watcher in the Water got to the girl before he did. Moving a step forward, he took the girl’s upper arms in his strong hands. “You are dangerous close to death, my Lady. Step away from the water.” As for her question, his identity, he mused for a moment on the many stories he had dreamt up over the years. None of them would do now. His fingers tightened their grip around her arms. “Tell me your name first, and I will save you from the Watcher in the Water.” Lifting one hand, he gestured to the slimy, mottled tentacle sliding along the top of the black, stagnant water. |

She flinched as he grabbed her arms and pulled her away from the water. She looked at the waters and realised how dark they were. "Thank you sir" she said as she wondered what was in them. She looked up at him once she caught the name of the creature in those waters. Why was it called the Watcher? What was so frightening about that? She let out a small gasp when she felt his hands tighten a bit. She clamped her lips together with a false smile. She wouldn't show that that had hurt. “Tell me your name first, and I will save you from the Watcher in the Water.” "You already have but I shall oblige. My name is Celarwen, Lady of Gondor" she said trying to sound proud but her voice seemed to shuddder under his gaze. |

“Celarwen of Gondor,” he repeated. Turning to the shadows, he barked an order in the Black Speech of Mordor. From the depth of darkness, three hulking Uruk-hai and two Wargs emerged. Still slinking away from the moonlight, three Orcs skittered just out of sight. “Your life is spared then … for the moment. And now I will answer your question. I am the Hand of Sauron, Lieutenant of Barad-dur. It was to me Lord Sauron entrusted his fury and retribution. I led his armies in Carn Dum with my brethren, the Witch-king of Angmar, and I released the Giant Spiders into Mirkwood. I killed your countrymen before the Black Gate in two Ages of his world.” He savored the revelation as it rolled from his throat to his tongue. Though the magic was gone, and each moment was an agony to him, he felt a stirring of power deep within. To acknowledge who he truly was had given him a second breath of life. “You will help me, Celarwen, whether you wish it or no.” To the Orcs and Uruk-hai, he gave more orders, this time in the Common Speech so that Celarwen would understand. “Bind and gag her. You, Orc, lead the way into Moria.” |

I killed your countrymen before the Black Gate in two Ages of his world.” Celarwen's eyes widened as she heard the name Sauron. Fear ran through her veins and she visibly paled as she realised this was no kind stranger. She was in deeper trouble than she had ever been before and she knew that somehow this was only the beginning. She watched him with horror in her face. She couldn't believe the carnage that this man had caused. She almost shuddered at the Witch King's name. She wondered more so now why she had not stayed in Imladris with her uncle. It terrified her to the very core. She wondered whether he knew she was missing yet. Maybe he could help although in the face of such an enemy she doubted it. “You will help me, Celarwen, whether you wish it or no.” She was about to respond when she heard the order to be bound and gagged. She stiffened as the Uruk Hai took hold of her. She could smell their stench to such intensity that she almost choked. She whimpered as their strength was made obvious by the fact their grip alone was hurting. She struggled desperate to at least try and get away. Hot tears burned her face as she thrashed about wildly. The pain she was causing herself from thrashing quickly became too much and she stopped. She jumped out of her skin when a hand closed over her mouth. She felt a gag being made and half choked when the hand was removed and the gag forced in. She remained quiet desperate to just survive this. |

The Orcs of Moria led the way through the twisting labyrinth down into the former dwarf city. Only to their wide, bulbous eyes did the darkness have any shape or distinction. The Hand of Sauron was used to this. He walked forward confidently in the wake of their footsteps. Although he glanced over his shoulder to ensure the Uruk-hai were following with the captive, he could not see the girl. He trusted his ears, however. At the entrance to a dark tunnel marked with a Dwarf rune glimmering below a ceiling studded with Mithril, he stopped. “Put her in here and stand guard.” He waited until Celarwen was thrown into her cell and the door bolted before walking away with quick footsteps. Now that he had some leverage, his plan could begin in earnest. |

Celarwen landed roughly in her 'cell' and looked around her as her only exit was barred. She looked around her, the smell of the cell was awful and it was a tiny cramped place. She leant back and she could feel the wall behind her. She turned around and with her back to her guard brought her knees to her chest and hugged herself tightly trying to think of a way out of this mess. Someone...help me.. |
