Aragorn smiled wearily as she offered him food and drink. He had rested only when necessary on his ride to Edoras. The importance of the news he carried was far greater than a good meal and mug of ale, however.

“I would appreciate it greatly, Lothiriel,” he said.

He tried to imagine what the seventh level of his city might look like now. One or two days delayed was not unusual, but even if he arrived back more quickly than the three days it normally took to travel from Edoras to Minas Tirith, he would be more than a week overdue. How the Gondorians reacted to a missing King, he was not entirely sure.

He supposed Faramir would have been summoned to the city already. Or if Faramir was unaccounted for as well, on a mission deep into Ithilien, then the Swan of Dol Amroth would fly from the battlements. It put Aragorn at ease to know his kingdom was well looked after, but he was eager to return all the same.

“I must be off at first light tomorrow. I have already stayed away from Minas Tirith too long. My absence will be conspicuous.”

Lothiriel smiled, pleased that the weight of their heavy conversation had been lifted. Though she understood the seriousness of the situation, to speak of it, and to have so little information made her nervous.

She had seen war tear apart countries, she had seen her father and brothers ride to battle. To think that it would happen again sent chills across her skin.

Pushing the thoughts from her minds, she waved over a young man that had been standing at the far side of the hall near the entrance. She turned back to Aragorn.

"Anything you would like is yours," She gestured to the approaching young man with a small smile. "All you need is to ask. A room will be prepared for you immediately."

“Thank you,” Aragorn said, inclining his head to the Queen. “I will retire and rest before beginning the trek back to Gondor.”

Aragorn followed the boy out of the room, taking the burlap sack with him. He would give it to one of the Marshals of the Mark who could pass it on to Eomer. They both needed to see the symbol and remember it.
