It had been for some time now that her home had come to exist amongst Eryn Lasgalen, with elves that had chosen to remain in Arda and amongst the race of humankind. The initial estrangement from Rivendell had been difficult, a transition which Leoynna had never completely adjusted into. Even now, as she packed what little she had decided to take inside of a travel bag, the restlessness that stirred deep inside her egged her on to move a little quicker and the longing for Rivendell deepened. But she wasn’t returning to Rivendell despite it. Leoynna had known for some time coming that she would never make it back to Rivendell. That her first step off and from its land would only lead her further and further away until the time she herself would also fall. It made her heart bleed to think about the loss of her beautiful Rivendell but knew it was necessary. As things began, they would also come to end as well. Across the floor she moved with no more sound than a whisper, the tail ends of her long gray cloak fluttering with its own lively animation with every stride. She had kept to Rivendell all of her life but that did not mean for even a moment she was ill-prepared for the rest of Arda. As a scholar she had studied the lands, roads, cities and maps since her youth. The road un-traveled was not unknown so much as it was simply un-experienced. Her goodbye to Eryn Lasgalen, the vast forests and the elves themselves came to be through silence. Stolen last moments looking upon a favorite place, a lament through the eyes when hers collided with another's or simple bow of her head in respect was all there was left to give. She'd made arrangement for her things, said private farewells to the nearest and dearest in her heart. She had achieved the closure she'd wanted to feel when leaving, so there was nothing more to do than depart. Down on the ground she held her breath with each step. Worshiping the sensation of the soft, mossy woodland ground beneath the soles of her leather boots. Cherishing the innate sounds of Eryn Lasgalen during her last stroll throughout the woods themselves. Keeping true to her pace until she met the place where forest thinned and opened up to the rest of Rhovanion, pausing only once to look back into Eryn Lasgalen and cast the vision of it to memory. For the sake of keeping the balance it was that she finally moved on. For the sake of a daughter and a mother's love that she found strength. She would find Nihdira before it was too late. |
