Royal Missive

To all royals and rulers of Middle-earth,

For nine months a deadly plague has assailed the realms of Middle-earth. We write to you now to share hope of a cure. On this very day, Healers in our Houses of Healing in Minas Tirith have found a cure to this illness we call Thûl-in-Gyrth. A single tisane of uraes will cure any man, woman, or child of this mortal sickness.

Signed with friendship,
Erchirion, Prince of Dol Amroth

OOC

What is the cure?

A tisane of uraes.

A tisane is a hot-water extract, meaning to release the curative properties of the herb, boil it in water (like soup), then feed it to the patient. Uraes is a fictional herb. It literally means “fire food.” It is a very hot spice that comes from Harad.

How quickly is my character cured?

We have established IC that most patients are perfectly healthy again within a few hours. However, some lingering side effects might be fatigue, weakness, muscle pain, and headaches. You can play this as you see fit.

Does my character have to be cured?

No, not if you don’t want them to be. Uraes isn’t native to the West, meaning it will take some time to gather enough of the herb to cure everyone. Eventually, there will be enough. A group will be going to Harad soon to get more of the herb. But, your character can die before they get back.

Can I go to Harad to get the herb?

Yes, but only if you’re not sick. Send a PM to Erchirion, who is leading the expedition, if you want to join the thread.
