The messenger wearing the livery of Gondor arrived at Brandy Hall many weeks after first being given this errand. It was no short trip, though with a fast steed and little sleep, the man had made it more quickly than others might have.

“I bring a package for the Master of Buckland from his cousin Milamac Brandybuck.”

Leaving the bundle on a table, the messenger departed.

To the Master of Buckland

My dear cousin, I hope this letter finds you in better times than I. You have heard, I do not doubt, of this plague the men of Gondor call Thul-in-Gyrth. I am shortly to die of this illness, and so I have sent to you, as is our custom, my last Will and Testament. The Healers predict I will not still be alive by the time this messenger has reached you. Please see to my possessions as soon as you are able.

-Milo

These Being the Words of Milamac Brandybuck

Along with this Will, I have written each of my family members a letter to express my love and devotion to you all. Though I have met a bitter end in a distant land, I am not sorry for it. I have traveled and seen places I had always hoped I might. There is no greater gift a Hobbit can give himself than a life lived.

At my passing, I request the following:

To my father, Mungo, I leave my boats and tack.

To my mother, Aspasia, I leave my paintings and portraits.

To my sister, Myrtle, I leave my house in Bucklebury.

To my sister, Merrick, I leave my books and manuscripts.

To my brother, Maddox, I leave all my maps in the hope that he will find the courage to follow the road, if that is his desire.
