I wrote this as a stocking stuffer for Yuletide 2007 and thought I would post it here too. I came to Rapture to escape the cruelties of the world, to find a place where science was not constrained by the foolishness of idealism or the narrow views of morality. Yet, for how much the world has changed it is not so different than it was then in so many ways. People are weak. People are foolish. People will always be this way. But I am with my little ones. That is what is important. The reversal process is proving more difficult than expected. First I had to restore the flesh to its original form. The suit grafts itself to the skin, it sticks like glue. It was intended to make the Big Daddy near invulnerable. If Suchong could see how many of his creations were blasted apart by shotguns and grenades he would deny it. He would curl up in a little ball and twitch and scream. And he would deserve it. The sick bastard. I know the extend of the horrors committed by him now. How very like the German doctors at the camps. The fool. He will be forgotten. Thank God the suit was not in place too long. I managed to save most of the skin and to replace the rest with grafts. The vocal cords were more difficult. The voice box was a more delicate mechanism, inserted through the throat and making the speech into those horrible grunts and groans. It is fixed now. I would not rest until it was fixed. What kind of man, I ask myself, would do a think like this? Who would become Big Daddy just to save my little ones? I know he had his own reasons but he could have killed them just as easily as he saved them all. What drives a man to these decisions? What separates the saviors from the murderers? If only we had studied this thing instead of implanting those dreadful slugs into those innocent girls. I would not have done it. I know this. I was not strong enough. Each day I look at him and wonder what part of my soul is missing, is defective. I blame the Germans and their experiments... their science... but I know this is not the reason. I have always been defective. The little ones, they are so attached to him. He will always be their Big Daddy, even without the mask and suit and that horrible stink. Perhaps this is what Fontaine meant. Truly, for him, there is no road back from having become a Big Daddy. I can fix the physical modifications but I cannot fix... no one could fix... anything else. I only pray that one day the little ones can forgive me. To see them so happy! No. This is record of medical procedure. Removed the voice box... |

I absolutely adore this! You got into Tenenbaum's head so well and I always wondered how she felt about this whole ordeal by the end of it. I think you did a very good job of capturing the feel of the game and the audio diaries as well~ :D! |

Awww... thanks.  I don't think it game out too bad for something I did about 15 minutes before Yuletide submissions were over.
