Destroying Your Credibility: 6 Easy Steps! By Jonathan Reynolds, Monday, June 20, 2011 http://jonrevere.blogspot.com/2011/06/destroying-your-credibility-6-easy.html ![]() Six easy steps to help you destroy your credibility 1. Focus on hypotheses and opinions instead of facts hypothesis: "a proposed explanation for a phenomenon" example: if students don't study, they will experience anxiety Hypotheses are generally tested after they're proposed, but we're not going to bother with that. It's too time consuming. Besides, opinions are more important. opinion: "a view or judgment formed about a particular matter" example: this Jeep is the best car ever If you dislike a certain political party, find a way to incorporate them into your hypothesis. If you dislike a certain religion, there's room for those negative feelings in your hypothesis. fact: "a piece of information presented as having objective reality" example: the author of this blog post lives in New York Facts are irrelevant 2. Ignore the Scientific Method Like facts, this is also irrelevant. 3. Don't verify claims Did a friend just post an article on Facebook about a top-secret government weather machine capable of producing large-scale destruction with the press of a button? Is there a rumor floating around your circle of friends that a microwave beam from space blew up the World Trade Center on 9/11? Don't bother verifying these claims. Believe everything you see (unless it comes from a source you dislike) 4. If you do verify claims, use friendly sources Your Facebook friend posted an article about the aforementioned space beam which blew up the World Trade Center. Where did that article originate? www.911wasaninsidejob.net? Excellent. It must be true. Use sources that are friendly towards what you want to believe. If a source questions your beliefs, it is invalid and should never be considered. 5. Be loud! Tell everyone! Megaphones are cheap on amazon.com. Buy one and shout down random people in the street. Don't worry about sounding obnoxious! If you're debating, ALWAYS USE CAPITAL LETTERS! 6. Only You Know the Truth Don't let anyone convince you otherwise otherwise! If someone challenges your facts, insult and/or block them. Do anything but address the content of their argument. Only you know the truth. |
