I was having a hard time deciding where to put this so I'll just drop it here for now Move it if you want Jeff Can Obama shut down the Internet? http://hotair.com/archives/2009/04/04/can-obama-shut-down-the-internet/ QUOTE: "The bill does not only add to the power of the president. It also grants the Secretary of Commerce “access to all relevant data concerning [critical] networks without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule, or policy restricting such access.” This means he or she can monitor or access any data on private or public networks without regard to privacy laws." Believe it or not, ALL information contained on you're Internet computer can be accessed or monitored by the Secretary of Commerce, (AND OTHERS) including encrypted data in your Windows 7 bitlocker disks (Read my older posts on this supject for details) The reason so many people are being FORCED to switch from XP to Windows 7 is due to the updates issued by Microsoft XP no longer works correctly with the updates and yet the fearmongers emphatically state that you must have them if you want to remain protected I have a "Legal" copy of XP with all the updates and it may or may not boot up It hangs at the Welcome screen or it hangs at a blank desktop I cannot access the pumpitout Forum without delays sooo long that it gives me a "Time Out Error" and a blank page Isn't it odd how the "Illegal" copies of XP don't have these problems? I am referring to the Volume Licensed Copies that do not contain Virus's or worms and do not connect you to the Microsoft servers to see if your copy is "Legitimate" They do not require activation and they mysteriously do not have any of the problems that would require you to "update" to the new improved spyware platform called Windows 7 The Internet CANNOT be secured and anyone continually updating their OS spyware just to make the Internet work is a fool So what if you get a worm or a virus? All your critical data should be kept on a seperate computer that NEVER connects to the Internet Legal copies of Windows as well as "Illegal" copies can BOTH have your antivirus disabled in realtime over the Internet You should ALWAYS assume that your Internet computer is corrupted regardless of what OS you are using Never move NEW data from the Internet directly to a secured computer Always wait 6-8 months untill your new antivirus definitions can find any new malware in that data You're Internet computer will not find problems if the antivirus itself has been successfuly attacked You have a much better chance of finding malware on a clean computer that has never connected to the Internet (EVER) DO NOT UPDATE THE VIRUS DATABASE on your Non-Internet computer! I know it sounds crazy, but you are much better off re-downloading the COMPLETE Antivirus with all the updates included! This way, you do not need to run to the Internet for updates and you can be assured that your antivirus has not already been disabled as a complete reinstall of the antivirus with all the updates should fix that problem Edited by A Storm is Coming, Jan 28 2011, 05:54 PM.
