The Origins of Christmas - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaTcsBeCK3k When was Jesus born? No one knows exactly, but He couldn't have been born any later than 4 B.C. King Herod died in 4 BC. and believed the Old Testament that a king of kings would be born in Jerusalem. He sent officers to check and see if it was true that a child was born in a manger. Those same officers came to faith and fell to worship Jesus and then warned Joseph and Mary that they should leave to Egypt until King Herod died. As to the actual time of year, Jesus was not born on December 25th because that was winter and shepherds traditionally do not tend their sheep in the open then because it is too cold:- Luk 2:8 KJV And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. Our association of Christmas with Jesus being born on 25 December is solely due to the Roman Emperor Constantine. He mixed pagan practices together with Christianity in attempts to solidify his empire forming false teachings we celebrate today. more - http://wiki.answers.com/Q/When_was_Jesus_born http://www.christianresourceslinks.com/christmas_and_constantine1.htm |

It was my understanding that when it is winter in the North, it is summer near the Equator due to the tilt of the Earth So Dec 25th would be perfect for a nice warm sunny Christmas Merry Christmas Edited by A Storm is Coming, Dec 25 2010, 01:05 PM.
