Hey all

Find below an e-petition just filed with the parliament in Scotland.

Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to open an independent inquiry into the 2001 Kamp van Zeist conviction of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi for the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 in December 1988.

That's it. The details, if any, will come later. Signing the petition is open to anyone with internet access. It asks your name and address for verification, and your name (some just use first names) and country will be displayed. It's good company to be in, 228 at the moment, in about one day.

Anyone who's not sure a new investigation is needed could just take my word for it, or if that's not good enough, the word of these people.

The petition can be seen, signed, or signatories reviewed here:

Caustic Logic

Hey, thanks, Jeff! 604 signatures already, mostly from Scotland and Malta.

From what I hear this isn't terribly likely to do anything in itself. There are structural impediments to a clear-eyed review of the Lockerbie case. But at the least we hope to get a strong turnout from around the world to show that doubts are growing. The US and Canada are lagging, with Scotland and Malta comprising the bulk, then the rest of the UK and Ireland.

If you find the notion of Megrahi's innocence foreign, please do check the link above.

Best

Adam

i'll be signing. the whole thing is F***ed. BBC Newsnight wouldn't stick their neck out like they did this year if there wasn't a pretty clear case for a miscarriage of justice.

i'm going to wait til i'm done going through US border controls before i sign it though ;)
