The director of Canada’s spy agency says some Canadians are playing senior roles in global terrorist organizations.

Richard Fadden told a Commons Committee that the Canadian Security Intelligence Service is investigating more than 200 Canadians for possible terrorist links.

Fadden added that CSIS agents regularly talk to suspected Taliban insurgents to gather information in Afghanistan.

He added the service’s efforts have saved lives.

Fadden says CSIS agents “frequently” questioned detainees in Afghanistan before they were transferred in the early years of the war.
