Now that Toshiba has pulled out of supporting HD-DVD and its death is emminent, do I go ahead get me a PS3 or is the XBox360 still worth getting at this point.

Damn I hate these existential questions about the meaning of life.

I'd suggest a slab of Vic Bitter and sleep in tomorrow morning.

I'd buy the PS3 anyway, because its a better system.

But to answer your question of why, Sony owns the rights to Blu-Ray technology. Microsoft is trying to cut a deal with Sony, so they can produce Blu-Ray games, and a Blu-Ray adapter for the 360. So in other words, Microsoft is going to have to pay their competition a PRETTY penny, just to rent the technology, and they'll pass the cost down to you. Plus they have no experience with Blu-Ray so quality will suffer, Sony producers are just now starting to make the most of Blu-Ray, it takes a long time to see what its fully capable of.

So either way, PS3 is the better system to have. I have one, and its AWESOME! Hell Metal Gear Solid 4 is worth buying the system alone.

He's asking about video game hardware Grim. Stick to Aussie football and beer, leave the video games to the youngsters.

Like Pong ya young whipperfuckingsnapper?

Let's see if I understand what an electronic game is? Would Need For Speed II on PS2 count. My eldest boy and I play regularly for bragging rights in the household. And then I get stuck into the VB's straight afterwards, lol.

Need for Spped 2 is one, but its AN OLD one, in fact its a LAST-Gen console game. Before Hi-Def gaming, but I have no clue what the fuck the VB is.

Who you looking at?

I love my PS3, actually never played XBox or the 360. Went straight from SEGA to Sony.

Pretty crayzy though, I use it primarily as a Blu-Ray player only and a place to store all my DVD-Rip's. I recently added, The Professional, The Warriors, and No Country for Old Men.

All-in-all I can't speak on the XBox and it virtues but I can say Sony will probably have me in their thru Playstation 20!!!

Kinda sad HD-DVD has thrown in the towel so early also. The VHS vs. BETA battle lasted longer.

VB Wiley is Victoria Bitter, a Aussie brew. I think I may have had it once can't recall. We have a place here that does a "World Tour of Beers".

I was always told that 1 sucked. I have stuck pretty much to Call of Duty 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Grand Theft Auto 4, of course I own many more games than that, just haven't played all of them. GTA 4 is the best I have played, MGS4 is pretty good itself.

Another question: Is a used PS3 a safe purchase? A GameStop near my home have a used 40 GB for $189.

And is it true Sony is about to discontinue the 80GB altogether?

I dunno about the 80, but if you can find a used 60 GB get that one. The 40's and 80's seem to have the most breakdowns.

Can't verify it but could do a quick internet search...I also have heard the 80 GB was about to become history because everyone is buying the 40 Gig.

The 80 breaks down if you look at it wrong. The 40 is a better system, but the best one they ever made was the 60 GB.

I have a PS2 and a shitload of games I can also trade in to help drop the price. Lfranchise, the HDTV will have to wait to next spring possibly or next income tax return! LOL.

I bought my PS3 right after they came out. Over $1000 spent on the system (60 GB) and add-ons at first. Now probably have over $2000 in the system with all the games.

The 80 GB is going bye-bye. People are saving the extra cash and buying the 40 GB. Unless you plan on ripping a ton of HD videos and storing it on there, you really don't need the 80 GB.

MLB The Show 08 is pretty damn good. The Road to the Show is much improved. Call of Duty 4 is damn sweet. The game play is shorter than I wanted, but the online play is the best. I finally had to have the fiancee hide COD4 from me cuz I couldn't put the controller down.

Madden i my opinion is starting too finally give grond to the NCAA series. Not the giant killer yet, but its time on the top of the mountain is starting to dwindle.
