There's a lot of creativity to be found among Precocious fans. This is the place to talk about your own personal art, music, films, or whatever it is you're working on. Share it so everyone can see!
Note that Precocious fan art doesn't go here- there's a thread for it already under the Precocious board. This thread is for non-Precocious stuff.

This is what I do when not doing Precocious, but you all knew that already, right? ;) Whatever, I like to show off.

I have a side-project with another friend of mine producing 3d animation. It's called Boolean Union Studios, and the website can be found here: http://www.boolean-union.com/. Chris actually built the site for us, at about the same time he was starting up Precocious.

In general, I'm responsible for writing scripts and also for most things regarding audio (I have some experience with sound production), while my friend Bryan handles the 3d animation itself. Other duties, like character creation, are split between us. We do all the technical work between us not for some ideological reason but because we simply don't know anyone else who does this stuff, and we have no money to pay anyone. We'd love to have some assistance, though we can't give much more than a slot in the credits and maybe a t-shirt. We use DAZ Studio software as our primary animation platform, with some assistance from Maya and other 3d software. We're well aware that we don't look like Pixar, but we're doing our best to improve the quality of our work, and a quick scan through our past work shows how far we've come from the early days.

At the moment, we are working on an animation based on the well-known Jack Chick tract Dark Dungeons, which is an overblown warning about the "dangers of role-playing games". We hope to have this completed by fall, so there should be more updates!

A long time ago I had some idea for a comic in some school related setting and these are the paintings I came up with for it:
Posted Image
Henry and Lulu Cockatoo

Posted Image
Lulu giving the mating signals to Jacob Toucan while Henry looks on jealously.

Posted Image
Delilah Dillo whom loves nerdy boys (like Henry)

Posted Image
My first attempt at proper cartooning which turned out pretty sloppy, but in any case it's Yorick and Genevieve.

Unrelated arts:

something I drew up in Harmony.

those were my most recent paintings.

Anyway there's tons of stuff in my sketchbook that I usually use for inspiration for these things, but since I haven't had my tablet for a long time and my scanner broke, there's no way to get anything here.

Those are great! It looks like you have your plot already brewing, so you're starting to come together. Ahh, I admire those who can work a tablet so much! The painting you can do with them is amazing.

Chrispy, I really like your 'serious' art. What do you do with it after you create it?

I hoard it until I figure out how to show it. I have piles of paintings that only been shown on my blog. I... I think I'm doing it wrong.

When I was still in art school, I showed my work all the time. Once I left... what the heck was I to do with it in Winchester? They only like pictures of sunflowers and chickens here!

Hooray, there is an art section here:

Now, I will be posting up some of my comic's characters and stuff. The title is still pending but right now, it is "Life's Lemons". Just a little heads up: it is about an Australian dingo (yes it's a furry comic), called Shane, who lives with a Latino coyote, Hernan, in LA (no, Hernan is not based on ME). The whole plot ideas are still in progress, but needs more time.

Anyways, for today I want to show you my most recent (past 2 months or so) drawing that was a huge success to my esteem:
it is a Giorgio Morandi Still life on Conte Crayon.

Chrispy: Your art looks like a combination of mechanical materials and paint. You're quite skilled!

Minx: Nice! You could draw cartoons with your skills. ^_^

ASR1572: Your drawing looks amazing! I like the style.

Andrew - Art at the Mill sent me another invitation. Yeah, I'm done with you hokey country people. You don't deserve my swirly color paintings!

ASR1572 - Ooh! That looks great! I am so looking forward to going back to school and doing drawing classes again. I've been needed a kick in the butt to get creative.

Thanks Roland and Chris. I am very pleased with your responses. A friend of mines said that I could do better, but I find it perfect.
Anyways, in my quest for art improvement, it had been set. During this summer, I will be taking Art 202 (Drawing II) to gain more knowledge on drawing. Also, since I've passed Drawing I, I will be taking Painting during my junior year, once I send my community college transcript there. And finally, I should start doing some various sketches. My only drawback to this is my laziness. Damn you, Sloth!

I'm not one for visual art so much, but I do some writing—poems, short stories... I'm working on a children's novel, if I can use that word without seeming pretentious <3 Is this the appropriate place to put those sorts of things? Would I use links, full texts, links with previews? Should I create a separate topics for the longer pieces?

This place is for people who like to show their artistic creations (whether it is an amateur or professional), so yes you can.

We welcome the sharing. If the text is too long, you can link to another page or document. You're also free to create your own topic if the material is big.

Most of these introductory threads are tests to see what activity we get. If they take off, they become subforums where everyone gets to start their own thread.

I have characters, like I've already said before.

I don't consider myself on par with anyone around here, but at least I'm working on it

Ok, well... I guess I'll start from the beginning then. This was the first poem I'd ever written outside of class, and it predates any work I like enough to share with you:

Note: When I wrote this, it was about love from a woman's perspective. The reasons for that are complicated, but understand that this is not a religious poem.

"Ego and Love"

There was a time not long ago,
When I in loneliness did spite,
the "me," the "I," the lord "ego".
And from that pain, there's n'er respite.

But just when hope did fade away,
And rayless Hell mine soul did claim,
There came a man who knew the way,
to end my bleak and baneful game.

For in that drear and lonely dark,
His brightest light mine eyes did blind,
And with his voice, like beaut’ous lark,
Mine heart and mind he did then bind.

And hate, at last, made out mine door,
And in its place sat Love so sweet!
And on dear "self," I dwell no more,
For you, that man, hath "self" complete.

For through thine start'ling love for me,
I've learned at last to care for thee.

Unfortunately, my DA embarrasses me so I doubt you'll see something from that any time soon. But I'm currently planning out a story I've been wanting to write for years. Major fantasy stuff. I'm more than willing to share that once I get some done!

Either my monitor is dark or I didn't adjust this correctly for it. The cave (upper right)
is just slightly more visible on the actual painting.

In case you're interested, this is acrylic on watercolor paper, about 4"x6",
and it won absolutely nothing at the 2009 NC State Fair. ;-)
