Biden fails to draw crowd in Erie

Posted July 1, 2009 11 :29 AM

Wattsburg, Pa. — Vice President Joe Biden visited a small town on the outskirts of Erie today to talk to rural folks about federal stimulus money that can be used to expand broadband access to the Internet for rural areas that typically have poor connections.

Apparently stimulus money and broadband are not all that interesting to the local folk here: Only around 100 or so people have showed up so far to hear Biden talk at noon at Seneca High School off Route 8 in Wattsburg.

The room looked so sparse that about 30 or so chairs were removed by volunteers to give the illusion of a full house.

The effect didn't exactly work.

Pittsburgh native and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper are also on hand to talk about access to high speed internet as an essential tool for success in business and in school in our struggling economy.

Sarah Palin drew 20,000 in upstate NY..... Plagiarist Joe draws 100 in Pennsylvania.

I'm sure Joe consoles himself when he goes to bed every night in the Vice President's Mansion. :nutkick:

Ever been to Wattsburg, Dean? I have. It's about an hour away from my house. There's absolutely nothing there.

Bethel, New York, population 4532. Yet one weekend in 1969 over a half million people gathered there. The size of a town has nothing to do with drawing a crowd, it is the event that is responsible. In this case, "Plagerist Joe" (good one, Brother Dean) came up empty.

Swing and a miss for you, Brother Plumber. You don't have to make excuses for Plagerist Joe, the "criminal liberal media" does a good enough job of that.

I also used to live an hour away from Bethel, NY.

Your point is moot. Wattsburg is in the middle of nowhere...Bethel is off of Rt 17 in an area mobbed by tourists and vacationers from NYC every summer. Wattsburg is nowhere near anything.

If you don't believe me, I'd be more than happy to let you crash at my house and I'll take you for a drive there. My wife makes kick a** pancakes!

I appreciate the invite, Brother Plumber. Maybe some other time. Heading out to the Hamptons this weekend. No clubs for me, though, just some good quality family time.

As my good friend Ernie said, leave the excuses to the criminal liberal media.

I'm sure the entire area was told well in advance that Plagiarist Joe would be visiting, but no one cared..

If Sarah Palin decided to visit the area, I'm sure more than 100 people would have shown up "in the middle of no where".

They did tell the whole area...that's why 100 people showed up.

There is nobody in the entire area, Dean. I'll offer you the same thing I did to Ernie...If you'd like, you can crash at my house and I'll give you a little tour of the area. In fact, if you can make it here today, I helped organize a concert down at the pier in town tonight. We're gonna have a band, a fish fry and free booze.

We only sold 75 tickets.

Free booze. And only 75 tickets. It's very rural around here.

You are an idiot. No one cares about the content, they want to see a hot chick or a car wreck and with Palin you will get both. Answer my question who would get a bigger crowd today?

I personally like Microbrew. A place in Jamestown called "Southern Tier Brewery" makes some mighty tasty India Pale Ale. I love that sh*t.

But the rest of the locals around here are pretty funny. The biggest requests I got for tonight was "Genny Light"(lmao) and Bud...

I would have went...but there was nothing about it in the local news around here. Politicians usually never stop around this part of the country....because, well...there's not much here.
