I'd rather have insurance companies in charge of my health care than the people who run the Post Office, Amtrak and the DMV. |

What the hell is wrong with the post office? These people will come to your home, pick up an envelope and deliver it clear on the other side of the county a few days later.... for 44 cents. If insurance companies were only as inexpensive and efficient as the post office is compared to its commercial counterparts, we wouldn't have any issues with healthcare costs and service in this country. It's pretty obvious you've never had the "opportunity" to deal with an insurance company for an extended period of time. There is absolutely no difference between the customer service and level of bureaucracy of a DMV and an insurance company. |

The Post Office is efficient?

Compared to health insurance companies? Yes. |

The Post Office does provide quick service, the problem is the bureaucracy. Way too many employees- not the front line type, but the middle management. Some fat can be trimmed there, without a doubt that's the truth. |

Yeah, the government can't do anything cheaply or effectively.

It could be more efficient, though. Lots of excess bagage. To suggest that the government would be able to run healthcare efficiently is an extrapolation that is untruthful. Because they can deliver mail means they can deliver healthcare? And yes, that is where you were going with your reply, Brother Klecko.

Actually, no. You see that's the difference between me and you - I don't see everything in black and white terms, the world is far more complicated than that. And had you read any of my posts on health care before you'd know that I am not in favor of a single payer or universal or socialized system or whatever you call it. I am, however, in favor of a government OPTION. See that's the key word that is being unfairly and inaccurately characterized by the neo-cons. The President wants to provide a government run OPTION for healthcare. Look up the meaning of the word. You won't find the word "takeover" in the definition. Personally I won't be affected by this if the President gets what he wants, which is if you have a healthcare plan you like, you can keep it, the only difference being that we can take steps to make it less expensive (My company provides us with health coverage that is free to us so I won't be changing mine) if you want something different or less expensive, the government will provide an alternative plan that anyone can take part in. He also plans to provide tax breaks to small business owners who provide healthcare to their employees. That's it. That's Obama's "radical" health care plan. I know this because I've heard him say it a dozen times. It's also spelled out pretty much just that same way on his website. Making it out to be anything different from that is nothing but a bold-faced lie. I honestly don't see how anyone is against making healthcare less expensive and more readily available. I congratulate you on a good post, Brother Klecko. You have some good thoughts here, plus no profanity. Keep it up. |

So I take it you agree that Obama is not trying to mastermind an evil government takeover of health care? Don't let the sisterhood hear you say that. |

I think Obama is in over his head, especially with regards to healthcare. I was more admiring how you put together a cogent argument and discussion, without resorting to profanity. It was refreshing to read. Just giving a compliment. |

And that's completely unnecessary and quite frankly, its not your job to do that. Passive aggressive pricks like you are the reason most people curse. |
