Hello there, Back when Nintendo released 3rd version games as a stop gap between gens the 3rd gen was a way to maybe make some minor improvements or additions to the main games. Was the 3rd version always the best? With Platinum I would definitely say yes since it fixed pretty much everything wrong with Diamond and Pearl and at least from my observation Platinum is universally preferred even by gen 4 people. Emerald I would also say yes because it sort of brings everything from Ruby and Sapphire together. Yellow and Crystal I'm more hesitant on. Yellow did bring color to the games and you can catch all 3 starters without trading or cheating but being an adaptation of a cartoon that was an adaptation of a video game makes it hard to call it definitive. The definitive 90s kids experience who started with the cartoon first, sure. And Crystal was cool for allowing a female player option and some other improvements but its just so weird that one legendary beast was given more importance than the other two. Pokemon Gold's story made the most sense to me. Any help appriciated I did not find the right solution from the internet. References:- http://bit.ly/2Ix5kXi animated introduction examples Thanks |
