What tactics do you generally use to generate activity in your community? My most successful way is just by posting with the members, getting to know them, and providing them with something to chat about. It seems that at first it takes awhile to get them into the swing of posting topics on their own, but with help from the administrators and staff, they'll learn to not be so shy. |

Most you can do it go by word of mouth. Posting on boards designed for advertising leaves your little ol forum left in the dark, while posters just post so they can enter their little ol forum into the database. It's a vicious circle. |

Signature advertisements ftw. I'll go on like a bunch of forums like on IPB and Vbulletin not just IF/ZB and advertise there. |

More people should do that, maybe we'd see some fresh faces come to the network, other then people just turning 13. |

Advertise everywhere you go, put out reviews everywhere, affiliate with boards, etc. All of these will help your board to grow & flourish! |

Short term activity, is achieved by small, paid, targeted advertisements, signature advertisement (effective), affiliates and in-content advertisement. But when i develop long term activity, i work on developing relationships with my members and try to develop a close community feel for everyone, so everyone enjoys it. I do this by letting my members know who i really am, true facts etc. The more they know about me, they closer they feel and valued. |

I don't think long term activity is generated by a signature =p A good community with fresh content will keep people coming back. |
