We have a tendency to open multiple forums at the same time to see which will survive. In my opinion, this ultimately ruins a forum rather than helping it. You might ask why. If you have two competing services, someone is likely to do one or three things. Join at one forum and be active there, join at both and be decently active at both, or simply not register at either. I really think opening a forum when no other forum has opened is the best idea. What are your thoughts on this? |

I honestly think that there should just be one big forum. Too many people want control and try to be original, so that kills off their board and other boards around it. Lets say if everyone abandoned their forums and came to OE (will never happen), this place could have the best of all resources. Best designers, best coders, and the list goes on. We keep dividing our resources instead of re-uniting them. |

Problem with merges is what you do with your staff and the various admins. No one will give up their modest forum for a position below admin if it's doing fairly well. I think forums can do fine on their own, though a few earlier mergers would work out nicely for OE and various other forums. |

Meh. I think competition helps a board though. Keeps them motivated and work harder to keep the members in. A bit of a competition never hurts anybody Worst case scenario is that both forums will be dead. Not a big deal.

I don't think there's too much competition out there for Resident Evil boards on this network. There has been some, but I'm not very threatened by them. Not to sound cocky, but Sarah and I are pretty topnotch in our respected fields. Besides, I'm satisfied with the community we have at Herbs for the most part. As for boards and competition in general, I think it depends on which site is the better of the two, obviously.

But two years ago that wasn't an issue. All resource boards prospered in their own ways because of the different communities, staff teams, and administrative styles they offered. |

Envy usually compromises logical thinking mate, besides, people hate certain people and with all people on one forum it would be complete chaos. |

I believe that competition can be an advantage based on the board and board owners perspective of what they want to accomplish. If there was a competitor that opened up against ZBNB that didn't appear to be a joke, and the board did well, I'm sure many of the features used on that board would be added to the ZBNB. Not only that, the ZBNB would be encouraged to either innovate or get left behind to the other board. At the same time, you do have a point with competition possibly just ruining both forums at once instead of either getting anywhere. A lot harder to dedicate time to 2 boards than 1. |

Good point corpora. I think that competition to survive could also cause an administrator to innovate, though it would have to be the point where it helps the forum and doesn't hinder it. I also think that having everybody at one forum could make a lot of issues. As Matt said though, envy plays a big part for some in creating a forum. |
