![]() Welcome to Nottingham... Home of England's most famous legend. But also home to the enemy forces who threaten to destroy the place. Nottingham. Outlawed for the last time by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Robin Hood continues to fight against brutal sheriffs, rising taxes and the king he once served faithfully. As Robin tries to fight for the people of Nottingham, others across Europe fight for different sorts of justice and different reasons - pride, greed, land and family. While Robin remains a legend and hero in the eyes of the people, history unfolds to reveal the truths...and lies...of the most significant figures of the 12th century...and history itself. The battle has just begun and rages well beyond Nottingham. The social difference in Nottingham is huge, and thus the people are divided into several categories- Nobles Nobles are extremely wealthy and powerful, usually owning lots of land and come from all over the country. They can be Lords, Earls, Counts, Countesses, Dukes, Ladies, Princesses or Princes - you name it - it's likely you'll find it, right here in Nottingham. Some are sympathetic, some are brutal - you never know what to expect. Villagers The villagers are mixed. Some are just lowly peasants who reside in the village or below the bridge in town. Some make a decent living from doing something creative - some jobs include physician, carpenter or a blacksmith. Some work for the forces of Nottingham. Outlaws The outlaws are not all legendary do-gooders. They can't all shoot an arrow and hit a man from a mile away. Though lots of outlaws now reside with Robin in his camp, some have a good heart but live on their own, or in another camp. Militia This group includes guards, mercenaries and soldiers. The militia make up a class of people whose livelihood is made by wearing armour and fighting. From a lowly man born a peasant whose life is that of a guard to a merchant or noble class man who has opted for the life of a sword for hire, depending on the motivation the personalities of militia vary. Clergy The role of the clergy is fairly straightforward. They are those men and women who have taken vows to serve the Church (please remember this is pre-Reformation, so most Christians in the West serve the Roman Church). They include high clergy, such as Archbishops and Bishops, as well as priests, nuns, and those who have taken vows to an order such as the warrior monks known as the Knights Templar or Knights Hospitaller. Many of the higher clergy act as politicians, deeply involved in matters of state, just as Templars and Hospitallers are often crusaders. Spies A special class of individuals, spies, like everyone, have their unique motivations. Some are loyal to an employer (Eleanor of Aquitaine, Prince John, James Kevelioc) while others are loyal to a cause (the Welsh spy network). There are those who do their job with a certain integrity; those who have boundaries and morals. And then there are those spies who will do anything for information.
