  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

He was dead.

The man that took him in and gave him everything that Ben possessed was now gone. He’s known the annoying old man for over 11 years. He bossed him around like his own personal slave. Ben loathed him at first, but he paid well. If not for Pig Ears, Ben would never have joined the Tai Yeung. Ben would never have discovered the whore houses and that working jobs was much more lucrative than scamming people.

Without the Tai Yeung, he would never have met her. Never would’ve figured himself to be the marrying sort.

And now that Pig Ears is gone… He is now the one to fill that gigantic hole to take on the name of uncle and take over his side of the business.

For once, there were no costumes, no masks; a simple man wearing a slightly unbuttoned white shirt, a black business jacket with matching slacks and clean black shoes. He sat at the bar of the Dusk. He toyed with an empty shot glass, as his eyes absently looked at its general direction.

He’s been sitting there for hours, taking the occasional drink. His glance barely met the bartender’s as he hit the bar twice to get his attention, and he pointed at his empty shot glass before sliding it the bartender’s way. He sighed wearily. He had bags under his eyes, and he was slouched over.

He didn’t go to his private lounge. He had one. He was an investor here, though he doubted they’d recognize him without his mask on or without his general lewd attitude toward those blessed with curves, breasts and a moist flower whose nec- No… not tonight.

He was but a dashing young Chinese man who downed every drink, and basked in the poison that took over him sitting by his lonesome at the bar.

So many people had died that day. One being her best friend, more like her only friend, Fiora. Then there was Pig, granted she hated the man for more than one reason, but he still was someone she'd see on a regular basis. The one closest to him that she knew was Ben, and after that night she hadn't seen him. Which wasn't necessarily odd, they had run into one another randomly, but they didn't actively try and see one another.

Though tonight was different. Scarlett pulled her resources and was able to find out where Ben had gone. From the sounds of the guards at the Prosperous Garden and her connections with the limo drivers, Ben had taken the loss of Pig pretty roughly. She knew little of what he meant to Ben, so it came as no surprise when Scarlett had no remorse for him. She wasn't the nicest person if people hadn't noticed yet. However concern and fear for Ben drove her to the Dusk Lounge. She knew she'd see Nemetis there, but the likelihood of seeing Wraith there was very slim. She hadn't seen him since that night, and it was killing her slowly inside.

All those thoughts aside, she entered the club. Walking past the large statue, giving it no mind, she searched for Ben. The first place, which was the most obvious to look, was the bar. Thankfully her detective skills were right on point, as she saw the short wind user pounding drinks away. Scarlett always thought she didn't have a heart, but seeing him sitting there broken like he was, made her chest swell.

"You should never have drink alone." Her familiar voice would echo behind him. From the corner of his eye he'd see her crimson hair falling down her shoulders, those sapphire eyes meeting his as she sat down beside him. "Especially now." Tapping her hand on the bar, she gestured for the bartender. "Two shots of your best... whatever. Top shelf; just keep them coming."

Scarlett dressed for coming to the Dusk. A dark blue fitted dress that was strapless. Gold flats and a gold purse to match. She knew they had a dress code policy, and as much as she would've loved to come in sweats and a t-shirt, that wasn't going to happen. Her eyes found Ben once more. "You been back home yet?" She was suggesting home was the Prosperous Garden, which was like WW3.

Ben shook his head.

So many things have happened since… Ben had vanished from the battle after the slippery teleporter man made way with his bounty. He found out that his fiancée made it out alright… Hell, his fiancée was saved because of one of their mutual friend’s childbirth. He was glad that they both made it alive, and he separated himself from them as soon as he learned of Pig Ears’ death.

“My love is still alive, but the wedding will have to be postponed.” He said as he downed the drink given to him. He did not let his eyes fall on her, they were on the now empty glass and his fingers toyed with it.

“Several Uncles have died while we ran our operation: The Rat, So, Grandfather Tsang and…” He paused as he thought back about the boisterous old man. He left out a snort and he smirked.

“The annoying old man, Shibutami-sensei”
He said with a chuckle. Pig Ears hated being called that, though his humour quickly faded as he let out a weary sigh.

“What of you? The Rat is gone. You will probably inherit his responsibility on the council. The next Generation...” He snorted once again and chuckled.

Scarlett crossed one leg over the other and rested her arms onto the bar. When their shots came she took hers without hesitation. She could tell the tone in his voice that he was hurt. He hadn't hit on her or called her beautiful or anything like that within the first second of seeing her. That was strange in of itself, and as much as she hated it, she'd appreciate it at the moment. It would mean he was alright.

"That's good about your fiancé." At least there was some good in this all. "Sorry about the wedding." Even if Scarlett wasn't one to sympathize or empathize with people, in this case she could understand. Scarlett hadn't seen Wraith since the incident with the Empress, and it was killing her.

She chuckled and gestured for another shot, "People die, they're the last on my list to mourn." Fiora was first...

"Me, I'll do what is asked of me. If the Chairman wants me to take over Rat's position, I'll do just that." Leaning in she rested her head into her hands and put her elbows onto the bar. "For now I'll just..." Watching the bartender do her magic, Scarlett took a deep breath and shook her head. "Live."

Shifting her eyes over to Ben who still hadn't looked at her, the red head put her hand onto his shoulder and gave him a friendly pat. "Let's drink, until we pass out and they have to carry us outta here."

Ben picked up the empty glass with the tip of his fingers, and rested it on the palm of his hands. There was a small smile that was etched on his face as he basked in the slight sensation of the cold glass. His fingers wrapped around it as he placed it back on the counter.

He looked at the bartender with his tired eyes and pointed at it.

“Aye… Lets” Ben replied as he downed the next drink that was handed to him. The strong clear liquid made its way down his throat without an issue, not even a grimace on his face. He showed nothing. His eyes were glazed; his expression was neutral at best. All of the muscles on his body were relaxed.

He snickered.

“Ora…. You know…” He said as he turned to face her. She could now see that his face was flushed. He has been here for a long time before she came along, though his eyes were focused on hers which was a first since they met. His eyes were dark brown, if not for the light that reflected against them, they’d appear black.

“I’ve been with the old man for over 10 years… So annoying and loud. I hated him at first.”
He snorted and looked back as he laughed lightly.

“He was to be my best man too!” He shook his head as he couldn’t stop the laughter from emerging from deep within his heart. He tried to cover his mouth but to no avail.

“Even in death, he manages to screw me over. What an asshole!”

The laughter did not cease. He wiped a single tear from his face; he looked at the wet finger. He shook his head in disbelief as he chuckled some more.

“What a joke… We lost so many…. I`ve killed so many… yet…. The fact that he`s gone bothers me endlessly. I keep expecting him to call me on my cell and yell at me. So ridiculous” He shook his head seemingly unaware of the water that rained down his eyes while he still chuckled lightly.

Even in the most lively, and happy of places such as this, Ben seemed to drastically make it depressing. Then again, death was pretty depressing. Scarlett hadn't known Fiora for very long, months maybe, but when you see someone every single day and plan things with them its like... they're a part of your life. The red head never had friends, Wraith was a friend but more then just that. Fiora had become her first 'girl' friend ever. It was heart breaking and even worse, she had no one to talk to about it. Wraith completely disappeared, and the only other person she could talk to was dead. Ironic. She went into that fight wanting to gain everything, however she lost it all.

So ironic...

So fucking ironic...

Looking at Ben, and how drunk he already was, she let out a heavy chuckle. Scarlett needed to be on his level. "Bring me five of these please." The pain of losing what's close to you can never be replaced, Scarlett beyond anyone knew those words. When she lost her husband, the pain was intense. Even to this day it hurts to think about losing him, though she didn't let it phase her. She was too strong for that.

"I'm sure you can find another best man." Scarlett wasn't too good with bedside manners. So even if she meant well her words may not have been the sweetest.

In so many ways, Ben losing Pig was like Scarlett losing Fiora. She wanted nothing more than to have that immortal call her up and ask to have lunch together again. Or to ask advice about the Moirai. Or to find out how her and Wraith were doing. It didn't matter. She could call up and ask if Scarlett had shaved that day and how long it took her, just to talk to her again, Scarlett would give anything.

However no money in the world could bring her back...

Scarlett was NOT someone to cry to. To her, crying was the equivalent of giving up. However, it must've been losing Wraith in all of that struggle, because she moved her hand across Ben's cheek and wiped away his tears. "I can't tell you it'll be alright. I can't promise that you'll feel better after destroying your liver tonight drinking with me. However, I guess..." Alright, Scarlett you got this. What would you want to hear... "Mmm, I guess I can promise that you'll have people here that can help you. I may get on your case, and I know I'm not the nicest person.." Who was she kidding, she was probably the meanest person... ever. "But like now, I can try and be here for you."

When the bartender dropped the five shots in front of Scarlett she pulled her hand away from Ben's cheek and picked one of them up. "To destroying our livers." She took the first...

Then the second...

and so on and so forth till there was nothing left.

Then patted the bar for more.
