| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? Zane had walked from his place to the boardwalk. He lived close by so there was no point in taking his motorcycle, and he felt like stretching his legs. He took a drag of his cigarette and blew the smoke straight up over his head, adjusting the motorcycle goggles on his forehead. Indeed he had left his bike at home, but he still wore the goggles. He didn't feel right without them on. As he walked along the boardwalk his stomach started to rumble. He looked around for any good restaurants he could eat at. Of course the boardwalk had all kinds of restaurants. It was just a matter of what Zane was in the mood for. Something distracted him from his search of cuisine. A car driving, or rather bouncing down the road. Something was clearly seriously wrong with the vehicle. Zane only hoped that the driver would be smart enough to pull over. The car drove slowly, so it was holding up the traffic behind it. Zane gestured to an empty parking spot close to him, hoping that the driver would notice and take the hint. He could then offer his assistance in fixing the car, or at least mending it enough for the owner to drive it to a repair shop. He took another drag of his smoke as he waited for the driver to either continue bouncing down the road, or grab the parking space he had gestured towards. The car was drawing the attention of everyone walking along the boardwalk. How could it not with all the noises it was making? Zane wondered what the hell had been done to royally screw up the vehicle like that. It sounded like there was a bag of cats living under the hood. Smoke started to rise from the hood, indicating that the engine was overheating. Zane frowned. The car didn't seem worth saving. Sure, he was good with repairs, but he was no miracle worker. Still, he would see what he could do. The driver seemed to have noticed him, as the car did indeed pull over in the space he had suggested. He sighed with relief and approached the car. The traffic returned to its normal pace. Zane waited for the driver to roll down the window so he could talk to him. When the window did roll down he noticed that it was a young girl. He almost rolled his eyes. Typical. Of course it was a girl that messed the car up so bad. She'd probably neglected basic maintenance like changing the oil for who knows how long. Still, he put on his nice-guy smile as he looked at her. "Car trouble?" |

Alix needed to go out and run some errands. She was going to make a dinner she wanted to try to out for a while. SO she got changed into something a little bit more appealing than her pajamas. She threw her hair up in a high pony tail. She walked into her kitchen and grabbed her purse and headed for her door locking it behind her. She walked down the hall of the apartment and passed her neighbor who was just getting back from walking her dog. "Hello, Mrs. Lucy.." Her neighbor nodded and smiled walking inside. Alix made her way down to the parking garage and to her crappy car. She only had enough money at the end of the month for her bills and food so she purchased the car at a junkyard to little to no money. It always broke down on her but she hope it was a good day. She climbed in and pulled her keys from her bag. She started the car and it roared to life. She smiled. Its going to be a good day. She backed the car up and drove off into the street. The car was driving very well just up until she was by the boardwalk. The car started to shake and she groaned. "Oh no, Please..don;t do this...no." The car started to slow down and she slammed her hand on the steering wheel. The car started to make some noises and she bit her lip and squeezed her hands on the wheel. People started to stare. She looked over and saw a man waving her over. She looked away. She was debating on if she wanted to stop or not. It would be embarrassing if she stopped so she decided again it. She was just going to ride it out and keep going. That is until it started to smoke. She groaned and knew she needed to pull over. She pulled into the spot where the guy pointed to. She watched as she made his way to the driver side window. She slowly opened it, staring straight ahead when it was down. "Yes, I know my car is a piece of junk.." |

Zane smiled at her words. Well, at least she knew. "That it is. Still, let me see what I can do. I'm not making any promises, but I should be able to get it running again. Then we can drive it to a shop to get properly fixed." He waited for her to pull the lever which popped the hood. He opened it. The hood was scalding hot to the touch, but thanks to Zane's abnormally heat-resistant power, he didn't feel a thing as he opened it. The inside of the hood was a complete mess. How the car managed to run was a complete mystery to him. Still, he had promised to try and do what he could, and that's exactly what he would do. Fortunately the boardwalk was the home to many different shops, restaurants and other venues. It only took him a few minutes to run off, and return with a wrench and screwdriver he had purchased close by. He wouldn't be able to do anything without tools. He then started working on the engine. As he worked he looked over at the girl. "So, got a name? I'm Zane Kazama." He knew that it would take him some time to repair what he could, so he might as well make small talk with the girl in the meantime. She didn't look Japanese, but at least she knew the language and would be able to talk to him. He wondered what had brought her to Japan. Clearly not a good job, considering the car she drove. There had to be another reason. It wasn't really any of Zane's business, so he didn't ask. Finding out her name would be good enough to start with. |

Alix turned her head to him and sighed smiling, feeling a bit relieved. He wasn't there to start a problem. He was there to help so that made her feel so much better that she stopped. She nodded slowly as she popped the hood for him. She could tell by the look on his face that it was going to take a while. She groaned and turned to grab her purse. She pulled out her chap stick and put in on looking in her mirror. The man ran off to buy some tools so now she really knew it was going to take a while. She climbed out of the car as he came back. She looked at him and smiled. "Yeah I got a name, Its Alix, Alix Fairwood. She told him her name as he worked on fixing her car. She leaned against a sign and looked at him and shook her head. She looked at him and sighed. "Thanks for help. Zane was it? My car is a bunch of junk. I should just sell it back to the junk yard and take the bus.." She looked at at the sky and shook her head. Why does this stuff always happen to her. She rubbed her forehead. Maybe she should walk from now on. Maybe she could get a new job. Maybe but all this takes time and takes money which she only has one of. She shook off her thoughts and looked at him and sighed. |

Zane looked at the car. She had bought it at the junkyard. That explained the terrible shape it was in. Still, with some repairs, it could be a decent vehicle. It would be a shame to toss it back to the scrap pile. Zane had repaired and upgraded his own old motorcycle and turned it into an incredibly powerful bike. Maybe he could do something with this car as well. It could be his project for the day. It wasn't like he had anything better planned. "Nonsense. There's no need to toss this car. A little bit of imagination, some spare parts and a master repairman like me is all you need. I'll get it running and then we can drive it to a repair shop close by. I know the guy who owns it so I can fix it up for you really cheap. I've got nothing better to do anyway, and it's a much better solution to throwing it away." He disappeared into the hood once more, his fingers moving with incredible speed as he fixed everything he could using the few tools he had on him. The car would need a few minutes to cool down before she could even attempt to start it. The cooling system was completely destroyed. Luckily for her the repair shop wasn't too far away, so she would be able to make it without a working cooling system. "So where were you headed anyway?" |

Alix looked at him. Did he just offer to help her fix her car? Why would someone do that? The people she knew would tell her to take it to a repair shop and they'd get on with their day but he, he honestly asked to help her. She was shocked but she didn't let it show. She nodded slowly. "Alright..and thanks a lot. The stupid car has just been giving me hell since I got it." She sighed and watched as the cars drove by. She got lost in her thoughts once more. What is she going to do about the money to pay to get the car fixed. She didn't have much money. She was trying to save it up for a better car but how can she save up for one when she keeps having to use it to repair the stupid cars. She sighed and shook her head. She can't stand her car. Everything seems to go wrong. She could have kept on thinking about how her life was such a disaster when Zane broke her from her thoughts. She looked at him. "Hmm? Oh. I was heading to run some errands. I needed to go shopping is all. Nothing to important. Look are you sure you want to help me with the car? I'd hate to pull you away from anything.." |

Zane smiled and lit himself another cigarette, taking a drag. The girl seemed surprised at his offer. He knew that not many people in Niwa would be as helpful, but there was no reason to make a scene about it. He just felt generous, and he enjoyed fixing cars and bikes, so really he had nothing to lose. "Well it's obvious that the car would give you trouble considering where you got it. Don't worry about it. I like fixing things, and I have nothing better to do today. Really, it's no trouble at all." He kept the filter secure between his lips as he continued working on the car. It took him around twenty minutes, but he was finally able to fix most of the problems. But only temporarily. Very temporarily. "Just in case, I should drive. Get in the passenger seat." He took a final drag of his cigarette and put it out on the pavement, throwing the bud away in a nearby trash can. He was sure that he wasn't allowed to smoke in her car. Most people disliked the smell of smoke in their cars. Then again, maybe she wouldn't give a shit considering how messed up her car was. Still, putting out the smoke was the polite thing to do. He waited for her to get in the passenger seat before entering the car and starting it. The car purred gently. Zane smiled. "That's the sound I wanted to hear." He started driving down the boardwalk, slowly but steadily, making his way to the garage. It would take them a few minutes to get there. |

Well she was right, he wanted to help and he wasn't doing anything so good. She needed to get this car fixed and she needed to get on with life. She nodded and smiled. She walked over to her car and pulled out a stick of gum. She forgot to eat breakfast and needed to chew on something. "Alright. Yeah, thanks again. Yeah, the junk yard wasn't the greatest place to get my car but it was all I could afford at the time and I needed something. I kinda wish I just saved my money and took the bus. It would have saved all this trouble." She sighed and snapped her gun and watched him work. She walked over and looked in at the hood and he seemed to have fixed some things up. But she knew that it wasn't going to last for very long. He told her he would have to drive. She nodded slowly and handed him the keys and climbed in the passenger seat. He climbed in and started the car and it came to live. She sighed and smiled looking at him* Wow, you fixed that much with just those few tools? You have some miracle hands, even if it is only to get us to the shop. |

Zane smiled at her compliment. Sure, he was good at fixing engines, but that and punching people was pretty much all he knew how to do. "I'm studying engineering at Jinsei university. I've also repaired and upgraded my motorcycle so often I can put an engine together with my eyes closed. It's nothing special though, just practice." It took around six minutes to get to the garage. He parked outside where the car wouldn't be in the way of any customers. The owner of the garage walked outside to meet them. When he saw Zane he shook his head with a smile. "I should have known. No one else is brave enough to drive a car like that. It's falling apart. What do you want me to do?" "All I need is a few spare parts. I'm going to fix it myself." "Sure, take what you want, but it'll cost you." Zane nodded. "You know I'm good for it." With that, he followed the man inside the garage. He quickly returned with a proper tool kit and a lot of spare parts. It looked like he was getting ready to replace every single item under the hood. He knew there was no way the girl could pay for it, but he didn't mind. Zane had so much money it was practically coming out of his ears, so paying for her car to be fixed wasn't really a problem. Besides, he was the one repairing it, which was fun for him. He opened the hood again, and started working. He turned his head towards Alix. "So, do you work, study, or both?" |

As they drove to the garage she prayed the car wouldn't break down. It would be ten times as embarrassing if it did it twice in on day. She sighed and looked into her mirror on on the visor. She grabbed her hair tie and let her hair down. She shook her head slowly as her long hair fell from its hold. She turned to him as he talked to her. He told her that he was studying at the university and that he is used to fixing things so she feels a lot better. As they arrived at the garage, a man came and she blushed. She used her hand to cover her face as she looked the other way. She felt so embarrassed to be driving the car but to show up at a garage and the owner says its falling apart. She sighed and just looked out of her window as the two guys talked. He got out of the car and headed inside and then came back out with a lot of stuff. She looked at it and groaned leaning her head back holding her forehead. She feels so dumb at the moment. She climbed out of the car and stood next to him leaning again the car. "I work. I don't have the time and money to go to school and besides. I dropped out of high school when I was 17. So I'd have to go back to high school to even consider going to a university." |
