Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

Despite the cold Chinatown was as busy as ever, Nami's senses were assaulted by all the noise, lights, and a god awful smell. It was around sundown and there was no shortage of shady looking figures hiding in the shadows of the alleyways. In the middle of it all was a girl , fair skinned, blonde hair, gray eyes, and a light gray coat that screamed designer; she stood out like a sore thumb. She walked down the street with a determined smile. She had something she wanted and now knew where to find it. Something that was worth the trek to this filthy part of Niwa.

She stopped at a small shop that sold furniture... or at least that's what it claimed to sell. Down in the basement though there was a variety of black market goods stolen from all over the world and brought into this little dingy basement to be sold for obscene amounts of money. The man had seemed surprised to see such a 'good girl' come into his shop but he seemed pleased with the deal she offered him. What she wanted wasn't even all that hard to get really, not for him at least. A Japanese koto, a good one at that. Satisfied she paid him and took the handle of the shiny black case. God she couldn't wait to play it.

After their transaction Nami slipped back out onto the street, it was dark now and chilly but the streets still held many people, though this crowd wasn't exactly the image of upstart citizens... Nami made her way through the crowd anyhow, hopefully nothing too crazy would happen...

Her eyes widened as he approached her, "ah... Tsui-san?" she moved back away from the koto looking unsure. She still didn't trust this man completely but as he loomed over her she could see it seemed he meant her no harm. She didn't resist it when he placed his hand on her neck and moved her against him. Instead she pressed her forehead against his shoulder.

He whispered soothing nothings to her, it was something that hadn't happened in a long time, not since... she was what... 19...18... younger?

"What's wrong?"

God she almsot felt bad deceiving him the way she had been but it wouldn't do for him to know who she was, there was no way whatever group he was in was associated with the Kayashins, That yakuza was too proud to deal with Chinese; bit that didn't mean that that Jin Tsui wouldn't have a problem with the Somoto heriess anyways; Soujiro Somoto had made a few enemies during his 43 years of life. But still Tsui-san had been kind, it would be awful to push him away now. Half truths then.

"I haven't played for anyone since papa died." she said simply, "I guess it was just a little overwhelming." Her voice didn't break, she didn't sob or whine, if it hadn't been for the visible tears you wouldn't know she had been crying.

"I see, Ami. I see. . ." Jin's voice was still and calm, tinged with kindness and sincerity. Losing one's parent was a terrible thing for most people. For Jin, it was trivial. He had never known his father--a man who had deserted his loved ones for a life in Niwa--so Jin never got to understand that sort of connection. What had happened to Jin and Ami were both the same in one regard: they were abandoned. However, in Jin's case, it was something different. There was no lingering, no resistance. In Ami's, there was something much more. A relationship that had been worked on through countless hours and interactions, with shared nights of laughter and moments of vulnerability.

In the end, though, it was all the same kind of abandonment: abrupt.

"I'm sorry to have made you play. If I had known--I won't have pushed it." With a slight push from the palm of his hand, Jin led Ami back to the table where their teacups remained steaming and hot.

"Come, let's sit down and have some more tea, Ami."

His pity made something in her stir, dammit she felt guilty. Sure what she had said was the truth but he probably wouldn't have been so kind to 'Namida Somoto'. Actually given the sorta life papa led she wouldn't be surprised if instead of asking her to tea he would have 'made her an example'. Either way it was to late for her to turn back so weak girl act it was.

"I'm sorry to have made you play. If I had known--I won't have pushed it."

Ah shit... she didn't want him to feel guilty. She looked up at him as he moved her towards the table, "Ah no... it's alright really, it was nice to play for someone again." she insisted stopping for a moment, she took his larger hand in her small soft ones. Intense moisturizing and skin care had allowed her to keep her hands silky smooth despite the numerous hours of training and punching things like trees.

"Please do not feel guilty for something so small, we all have out past pains, some visible to the eye, some not."

"Mmmm." Jin replied lightly, halting in his steps to allow Ami the space she was looking for. Her words were true, yes, but Jin would not contribute to that specific comment. Of course he had his own ghosts. There were so many things he had done in his past that he was not very proud of. He had killed many men and women in the name of the Tai Yeung. He remembered the days when Old Man Tsang had directed Jin around like his own personal hell hound. Jin had seen more red than he wanted to remember. Being the chairman... it was the better life. His hands were less dirty.

"It was a pleasant song, Ami." Jin's voice was slowly returning to its original volume and harsh intensity. His smile remained worn. He had never smiled so much before for a stranger. "Listen, we could always use some entertainment at the restaurant. That is, if you're willing to learn a few new songs to cater to the clientele." He placed his hand once again on the young girl's back, moving in small soft circles between her shoulders and midback.

"Are you interested in a job?"

Nami looked genuinely surprised at the offer. Her? work here? he first instinct was to say no, to not get too involved with people not of the wo shing. but then she started thinking, she would probably entertain at parties, it probably wouldn't be too long before Tsui-san saw she was good at other things too like dancing or serving, she might gain the opportunity to sit in on some important business...

and over hear some things Eiji-sama or Tatsou-san might want to know....

"Ah sure... that would be wonderful" she said with a dazzling smile."Then I would be able to play for others all the time." Thats when his hand moved, it started circling on her back, right over the Somoto-gumi tattoo. She tensed up a bit, did he know...? she wondered for a moment, but that was silly he was buying this Ami bit like discounted rice. she shook off the thoughts and smiled up at him though her nervousness would show a bit.

Jin's hand stopped circling as soon as he had noticed Ami's body tense up and almost reject the gesture of kindness and condolences. Jin retracted his hand away from Ami's back and slowly pulled back into an invisible shell. Were has advances too forward? Was he too repulsive? Jin made a mental note to tread much lighter with Ami and continued on toward the table.

"We've been looking for an act these past few months. The older clientele have been complaining of this place missing something authentic. I play them music on CDs, but they just keep on complaining." He went on, sweetening up the deal more for Ami. "It'd do them good and it'd do me even more good to have a girl like you on stage." Lightly, Jin led Ami back to her seat. He sat first, tending to his teacup once more. He brought the cup to his lips and let the steam wade its way upward into his nostrils.

"Maybe I could see you more often, too." He sipped. He reached into his left breast pocket and retrieved a carton of cigarettes. He tilted his body to the side to get to his lighter as well and tilted the open carton to Ami.

"Smoke?"

She noticed when he pulled away from her to take his seat. Crap had she offended him? she really did hate dealing with men the way she had been these last few days, she wasn't any good at it. Rather than dwelling on it she took her own seat, she had already accepted the job, too late to turn back. Plus this really was a good opportunity, to think that Tsui-san wasn't someone involved with the gang related craziness that was Niwa was stupid. Of course she wasn't sure if his group was big enough for Wo Shing to be bothered with, still it couldn't hurt and if Tsui-san was the enemy, well her higher ups would be happy to know she was getting close to him. It would be easier if he wasn't so nice though, he was a respectable man, not the kind she liked to deceive. Had he been some asshole trying to lift her skirt as soon as they were alone it would be so much easier to play the part.

"I'll try my best but once again I make no promises, the koto is all I know in terms of playing, I fear your early entertainment won't be as... fitting... as you like." His second remark perked her interest more than the talk of work... he wanted to see her more? Maybe Tsui-san's thoughts weren't so pure after all... though if sex was all he was after he probably would have offered her cash to fuck him, or raped her. Maybe the thrill of the hunt was what motivated him, 'Ami' after all was a sweet girl, 'Ami' wouldn't give it up easily, hell he probably assumed her a virgin. She shook her head 'no' at the offer of a cigarette, then then looked at him with a cutsey tilt of the head.

"You... you want to see me again Tsui-san?" she asked wrapping her arms around herself and looking shy,

Jin nodded when Ami declined his cigarette. He lit one up and pulled a drag, turning his head to the side to let out the smoke so that none of it would flow near his guest of the afternoon. His eyes squinted briefly as he felt the cold smoky flavor of the nicotine reach his lungs. He pulled the cigarette away from his lips and let it rest at the tip of his saucer.

"Of course I do." Jin replied, looking at the shy girl in front of him. He was a man, after all, and men lived their lives with one thing on their minds. But Jin spared Ami the opportunity to know the man that he could be. There was no point in letter her know how twisted he could truly be--he needed to secure an act first.

"There are way too many old wrinkly Chinese people here. Seeing a young pretty face will be a welcome sight, for sure." Maybe it'd shut up Uncle Big Toe after all the trouble that's been going down. "I'm sure they'll be grateful to finally have some live music playing for once."

It was small talk. Completely trivial information, but there was an allure to it all for Jin. With this girl he didn't need to talk about the issues with the organization. He didn't have to worry about the war with the Xin Hop or the Yakuza who were looming around the bend. She was a small reprieve... a breath of fresh air.

But eventually, Jin would need to dip his head back beneath the water and dive.

Nami was grateful for his consideration, she hated cigarette smoke. She blushes slightly at his comment of wanting to see her again, despite his stated reasons why she had an inkling that it was more than just a breath of fresh air he was after. No Jin Tsui-san was respectful and patient man but a man none the less. Nami was willing to bet anything he was just as interested in her private performance as he was her her performance at the restaurant.

Which was perfectly fine, if he wanted to woo her by all means let him, it just gave her an excuse to get closer and learn more about him. She'd have to meet up with with Tatsou or Akai later and see if either of them knew anything about the man before her. She had to be careful yes, Tsui-san was probably a very dangerous man to anger, she had to careful not to come off as a tease but at the same time avoid winding up under him. Sure a lot of girls had no problem sleeping with the enemy to get info but the tattoo on her back was very noticeable and very obviously a Yakuza emblem. Not the sort of thing 'Ami' would have. Plus she wasn't good at that sort of thing... the whole being naked with a man thing.... even when she found them to be attractive.

Memories of how absolutely awkward she had been with Tatsou-san reared their ugly unwanted head and she flushed red, the kind of red Tsui-san would nice. Shit... she hated how bad she was at hiding how she felt. Better to play it to her advantage than ignore it. She sighed, using her crossed arms to lift her chest a bit; probably would have worked better if she hadn't wrapped her chest up to keep her breasts looking smaller. (big breasts gained lots of unwanted attention) and looked away from him as if pouting. "So my playing here is the only reason you want to see me?" she asked her soft pink lips set into a frown and her cheeks and ears tinged red. God she probably looked like a school girl confessing to her senpai.

Life is a game.
You play to win.

Those words echoed in Jin's mind as he saw the young girl pout, put on a cute face, and cross her arms to flaunt what wonderful gifts the heavens had rewarded her. Jin wasn't sure if it were intentional, but the girl knew how to broadcast her good side to him. She could be manipulating him. He was a wanted man by many--sought after with guns and knives instead of hearts and bosoms.

The way she showed off her profile and the way she altered her voice into a false angry one... it came off as playful and sexy to Jin. He wanted to play too, but he was not a man to simply jump at a girl. That's what the escorts were for. He planned on paying Ami to sing for his guests, not to sleep with him. Things were better when they weren't already paid for. The chase was more fun.

"The only reason why I'll be paying you, that's for sure." He chose his words carefully, hoping that Ami would catch on. "Whether or not you choose to go out to dinner or to shows with me is entirely up to you."

He lightly flicked the bottom end of his cigarette, letting the ashes fall off.
