| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? Despite the cold Chinatown was as busy as ever, Nami's senses were assaulted by all the noise, lights, and a god awful smell. It was around sundown and there was no shortage of shady looking figures hiding in the shadows of the alleyways. In the middle of it all was a girl , fair skinned, blonde hair, gray eyes, and a light gray coat that screamed designer; she stood out like a sore thumb. She walked down the street with a determined smile. She had something she wanted and now knew where to find it. Something that was worth the trek to this filthy part of Niwa. She stopped at a small shop that sold furniture... or at least that's what it claimed to sell. Down in the basement though there was a variety of black market goods stolen from all over the world and brought into this little dingy basement to be sold for obscene amounts of money. The man had seemed surprised to see such a 'good girl' come into his shop but he seemed pleased with the deal she offered him. What she wanted wasn't even all that hard to get really, not for him at least. A Japanese koto, a good one at that. Satisfied she paid him and took the handle of the shiny black case. God she couldn't wait to play it. After their transaction Nami slipped back out onto the street, it was dark now and chilly but the streets still held many people, though this crowd wasn't exactly the image of upstart citizens... Nami made her way through the crowd anyhow, hopefully nothing too crazy would happen... Edited by Namida, Jan 14 2014, 02:34 PM.

"That's quite the find." A deep and stern-sounding voice bellowed from behind the girl. It was a strange approach, but this was a strange man and this strange man was more interested in this even stranger girl walking around Chinatown. She was dressed in attire that would befit the runways of Tokyo, or to be worn during some generic holiday-themed commercial. The Chinese in and around Chinatown were not typically dressed well. These were working people--their fashion sucked. The man was slightly above average height, dressed in a steel-grey suit with a black collared shirt and matching black tie. He pointed shoes shone a deep darkness that often reminded him of the kind of life he led. He smiled at the girl, when she turned around, trying to let out the gesture that he was not a creep (although that was not up to him to decide). With his formed smile were numerous scars scrunching up the man's face; each crater and crevasse telling a story on its own about the adventures and endeavors of this man's life. "Do you play?" |

Nami turned around startled by the voice behind her. She had not really expected anyone to pay her anymind... Well that's not entirely true. She had her knife on her of course and figured she might get stopped by a mugger but this guy was not dressed like a thug. Oh no his clothes were just as nice (if not nicer than the ones she wore. She turned to meet him, her expression showing she was on guard but by no means hostile towards the stranger. "I do..." She said tightening her grip on the handle of the Koto's case. The man smiled at her which showed off his various scars all the better. He had seen some action for sure and Nami was betting he wasn't trying to sell her more strings. No he was obviously involved with one of the gangs around here. Yakuza? Maybe one of the triads? He sure wasn't Wo Shing. Better to be on guard but to be rude would be stupid. Nothing worse than a pissed off gangster. Better to just see what he wanted and be done with it. |

"I'm sorry, did I startle you?" His body swayed back only slightly to show off that the man was aware and respectful towards the girl's personal space. Everyone had their boundaries, and some were far smaller than others. Jin cared very little for it, as his paranoia had died down over the years of his service as a Red Lantern. Constantly butting skulls coupled with the verbal and physical abuse that is somehow passable as discipline had numbed it all away for Jin. Oh, and the escorts; they definitely helped in numbing Jin's personal space tolerance. "I'm sorry, there was just something." First impressions were always difficult with Jin. How to approach a stranger. 'Hey, I was totally stalking you and saw that you didn't belong around here, so I wanted to find out more.' No, that wouldn't work. 'Hey, you look like one of the escorts that I frequented, and I wanted to know if you were her.' Definitely not. "It's just a unique situation. You definitely don't see someone like you at those kinds of places. Especially in Chinatown. Well, let alone that I wanted to buy that thing of yours. There wouldn't be any possible way for me to buy it off of you, would there?" |

Nami shook her head slightly at his question, "no I'm fine don't worry about it." She had been startled by his approach but she didn't want him to think her intimidated by him. He was far back enough he didn't seem to wish her harm but she couldn't be sure, he was still a lot bigger than she was. worst case scenario she could always use a good enhanced punch or kick to get away if necessary but she really hoped it wouldn't come to that. that sort of attack would draw attention she didn't want or need. The man apologized again but sort of trailed off in his explanation, which put her more on guard. What the hell did he want? did he need directions? probably not. Was he trying to pick her up? maybe. He didn't seem too much older than her (not that age mattered to some men) Or his intentions could be much worse. Too early to tell. Finally he asked about the Koto and wondered if he could purchase it, after remarking how strange it was to see a girl like here in a place like this. well couldn't argue that really. She did stand out in this shit crowd. "Ah yeah I... um it was hard to find the right...seller... for what I wanted." she said. No need to bring up ugly words like smuggler even though she knew he had to know where she got this. there was no doubts this Koto was worth a lot of money, probably belonged in some sort of museum somewhere but it was in her hands now and she intended to keep it that way. hopefully this guy wasn't a crazy collector or something; she really didn't want to have to deal with more crazy this week. "I'm sorry but I really do not wish to sell it, it's very important to me to have one and as I have not been here long I do believe it would take some time for me to find another as nice." she said with a respectful bow. Her voice serious yet tinged with a small sadness. Memories of the past always did hurt. |

Her answer was immaculate and hard to really pry more. Jin felt somewhat melancholic from the tone of the girl's voice. Her voice hinted that there was something much deeper to the item than a simple desire. Just as how Jin had the things that he cherished most--whatever those things were--so did this girl. And judging from the contrast of their character, Jin could tell that this item held far more sentimental value than it would ever dream to have for Jin. "I understand." He closed his eyes and nodded with a small smile. "Then, could I possibly ask you a favor then?" He bowed graciously and gratefully, displaying utmost respect and humility by bowing his head lower than he would to most of his peers. Upon lifting his head up, he smiled, wrinkling his scars once more, and requested something of the girl. "Could you perhaps play that Koto for me?" |

The man was respectful that was for sure, She raised an eyebrow his smile and at how deep his bow was. He was obviously trying to be non-intimidating, hard for man with that many scars in the middle of a crime ridden lot like Niwa's Chinatown. She hadn't been here long but she had already heard the rumors of the place, there was supposed to be a lot of triad activity in this place as well as drug trafficking. "Could you perhaps play that Koto for me?" Well shit that was a surprise. He was obviously not letting her go along her way so easily. Well better to see what he really wanted and give it to him, so long as it was something she was willing to give. Hell he could really just want to hear the damn thing and well she hadn't played for someone else in a while. She might even find out something useful to the Wo Shing if she was lucky. she tilted her head in a cutsey manner expected of a girl like her. "I'd be happy too" she said with a bright smile. She stepped forward closing the distance between them, her head held high and no trace of worry in her face. He was much bigger than her but she was tougher than she looked. Her voice was sweeter than honey and completed this oh so innocent look she put on. Not a trace of the killer that lurked within. "Shall we get out of the cold though before we discuss this further?" it was freezing after all and despite her coat her thighs were still bare. Curse this fashionable facade. Hopefully he would lead them somewhere warm, she wasn't all that familiar with this part of Niwa though she was sure he was. |

"Yes! Yes!" The first one was for excitement, the other for confirmation. Jin rose his head from his bow and bowed more casually and informally, thanking the girl. He was more than capable of being humble--very rarely did he enjoy flaunting whatever power, influence, and wealth he had accumulated throughout his life. After all, he felt as though the moment he started acting like a big fish, someone much bigger would come around to eat him. "There's a restaurant around here that has a nice setup for an instrument like that." Jin began. "It's called the Prosperous Garden--have you heard of it before?" |

Oh he seemed pleased at her decision, maybe he really did just want to hear the instrument after all. Even after all this talk she couldn't sense any maliciousness from him at all. So either he was really just interested in the koto or he was a pretty good actor. He went on to suggest a restaurant, even better public places were always good when you wanted to avoid being kidnapped or sexually assaulted. "Oh no I haven't, though I am fairly new to town so I don't know of many places." she explained with a slight embarrassed chuckle. "As you could probably tell by my ending up in this side of town." Being unfamiliar with the area seemed like a reasonable explanation as to why she was here, Girls that looked like her normally didn't search out black market deals with smugglers like she had that day. "I guess I should ask around more next time I'm trying to find an instrument shop huh? Well why don't you lead the way?" better to walk beside him, keep him in her line of sight. As they would start walking she would turn to continue the conversation, better to keep him talking and she was wondering why someone as well dressed as this man would be out on the streets and not riding in a limo or something. "A cup of tea sounds lovely doesn't it? Specially in this cold, Might I venture to ask what you're up to here ... oh I just realized we haven't even introduced ourselves. My nami is Ami, Ami Katashi; Might I ask you're name? " the name sounded sweet and simple, matched her appearance. Not to mention Somoto tended to send off red flags to those involved in the crime world. |

"Jin Tsui." It was a strange response from the man--he rarely ever disclosed his true identity to strangers. Perhaps it was the charm of a young girl that had caused Jin to lower his guard. He knew how foolish it was to do what he did, but he figured that this would have eventually ended with his downfall in the end of everything. Jin furrowed his scars on his face into a smile and politely gestured to the space ahead of him, leading the young girl along. Ami Katashi. Ami Katashi... The name did not ring any bells at all to Jin, nor did he imagine it to. In his eyes, this just seemed like another lost girl in the wrong neighborhood. Luckily for her she was in the right territory. Jin cringed at the thought of some of the Lai Gang getting hold of a sweet young thing like her. Ami Katashi. Ami Katashi... Jin repeated the name again and again in his mind until it would stay planted for at least the duration of the day. "Right this way, miss." Jin said in his best fake-classy accent. There was always a playful side to the man despite his appearance, he just rarely made it show because of all the expectations and appearances he had to uphold. Within good time, the duo made their way to the restaurant--it was only a block or two away from where they had originally met. A building lined with traditional shingles baring two sculpted lions at its circular dark wooden gates. This was no Chinese take-out restaurant, that was for sure. "Welcome to the Prosperous Garden, Miss Katashi. Shall we have some tea?" |
