Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

Namida
Nami smiled as the small ding from her kitchen timer sounded. The apartment filled with the smell of fresh baked cookies, kinda off if you actually looked around it. In her living room there were guns on the table taken apart for cleaning, a sword laid on the floor also freshly cleaned, and a punching bag hung from the ceiling beat to hell and back. In the kitchen empty sake bottles cluttered the sink and across the table laid out all her makeup supplies and a mirror.

She slipped on her oven mitts and pulled the batch out. After letting them cool a bit she took a small portion of each and wrapped them up nicely. It had been a long time since she had had actual neighbors. Not since the fire really. Her late teenage years had been spent running from the Kayashin-gumi and then after joining Wo Shing she’d been training under Eiji-Sensei and lived within the Wo Shing headquarters in the area. Not exactly the place to go greet your neighbors. Probably wasn’t exactly the best idea to do this now either but father always made it a point to be friendly to the neighbors and it would make him sad if she didn’t do the same.

Once the four packages of cookies were wrapped up she placed them in a bag and headed out her door walking a few feet to the right to stand before her neighbors. She set her usually sweet and innocent smile on her face and knocked three times. She had heard this neighbor was not allowed an oven after a kitchen accident, probably some old lady that could barely care for herself if she managed that. The cookies would probably be a welcome surprise… assuming the old lady had the teeth to eat them.

Nami became concerned with Akai's... Well.... Concerned expression. What was she concerned about? This was perfect. With them both being in Wo shing they would be able to work together and not have to off each other. This was as good as they could really hope for. Oh... Wait...

Akaikens eyes had studies Nami's hands. Yeah that made sense. Afterall Nami should have been married into the Kayashins by now.

"Namida-sama... just what... what kind of work are you doing for Wo Shing?"

Yup as far as Akai knew Nami should be a happily married wife (and probably mother) by now. Not working for a group like Wo shing, far away from the area they once considered 'home.'

"Ah...ha...ha" she laughed nervously scratching the back of her head. God she had a lot to explain huh?

"Well as you can see some Shit went down between me and Kyoshi... As for what I do for Wo shing, well I guess you could say I work under Tatsou-san, ya know, do whatever he needs or wants me to do."

She offered the red-head a sheepish smile. It was kinda embarrassing to admit you weren't worth Shit to someone who had used to put their life and honor on the line to gaurd you. It felt like she had failed her somehow and it showed on her face. The embarrassment and the shame.

Akaiken
Akaiken's eyebrows knitted together in a strong frown at Namida's reaction to her question. Nervous laughter, embarrassment and was that shame? And then there were her words.

The now-blonde nonchalantly said that 'some shit went down' with Kyoshi... Which of course sent twitches of anger coursing through the shorter woman's veins. Gods if she ever saw that cowardly shit again she'd wring his fucking neck As for what she was doing?

"well I guess you could say I work under Tatsou-san, ya know, do whatever he needs or wants me to do."

A thousand images flashed through the short woman's head as her face grew to a bright crimson to almost compete with the dyed red of her hair as she took a step back, shock painted plainly under her embarrassment.

No way... N... Namida-sama...

A sudden resolve came over the red-head's expression when she suddenly dropped into a dogeza bow speaking low but with strength in her voice. "I have every confidence that we can safely exit the Wo Shing Society! You don't have to disgrace yourself in such a way any longer!!"

Truly she was disgusted with herself, if only she'd been more vigilant back then! Surely Soujiro-sama hated her now, truly she was shocked that Namida-sama did not after everything that had happened... No surely it was the shock of finding the other alive that made the blonde so benevolent now and undoubtedly her senses would soon return and Akaiken could face the consequences.

Namida
Nami's expression became more and more confused as Akaiken suddenly got redder than the innards of a watermelon. She was about to ask what was wrong when Akaiken dropped into the dogma position. What the fuck was going on in her head now?! seriously the years apart had done some work on Akaiken's sanity it seemed. Which only strengthened Nami's resolve not to let her go.

"I have every confidence that we can safely exit the Wo Shing Society! You don't have to disgrace yourself in such a way any longer!!"

Ah well that made sense... kinda... Akaiken was always so serious, so it would be logical that she would find the once heiress being a mere lacky to be disgraceful to the Somoto name, in fact most people would agree that Namida and the Somoto name had both fallen pretty damn far but leaving the Wo Shing? not only would that be suicide it would also ruin any chances of Namida rising back up out of the metaphorical ashes. She knelt down and placed her hands on Akaiken's shoulders moving her back into a sitting position so that they were eye to eye. she offered the red head an assuring smile.

"Now now don't be silly, this is just a temporary period and in time it will work to my advantage, I mean Tatsou-san is a strong commander and I am sure I will learn much from his skills, just wait eventually I'll be the one on top again." she gave akaiken's shoulder an assuring squeeze.

"Besides you do the same job don't you? who knows we may even get to work together sometimes."

Akaiken
Akaiken frowned as Nami pushed her into sitting upright and offered a smile before speaking. She really didn't seem all that bothered at all! The now-blonde explained that it was only temporary of course and would work to her advantage.

"I mean Tatsou-san is a strong commander and I am sure I will learn much from his skills, just wait eventually I'll be the one on top again."

The short woman's face lit up bright red again as she stammered out rather loudly "I-I-I don't want the details!!!"

"Besides you do the same job don't you?"

Her face grew even brighter crimson if that was possible, "W-what?! No! I'm a blade! I don't even--"

"who knows we may even get to work together sometimes."

And by this time veritable steam was pouring out of the red-head's ears. "Wh-w-what the fuck are you saying!?!? E-even you know I can't--! don't--!! Let alone with--!?! that has nothing to do with my job description!!!!" She shouted, obviously reacting badly to the uh indecent assumptions coursing through her head.

Namida
Nami Watched the red head flail about like an octopus having a seizure. Her eyes squinted as she examined Akaiken's face which was now redder than her hair. A small frown graced her lips as her eyes narrowed further. Pieces started coming together in her head as she leaned closer to Akaiken.

"Wh-w-what the fuck are you saying!?!? E-even you know I can't--! don't--!! Let alone with--!?! that has nothing to do with my job description!!!!"

She reached out and grabbed the shorter girl by her shirt pulling her closer so they almost nose to nose. She stared into Akaiken's eyes.

"Oi Akai-kun..." She said with some annoyance seeping into her voice.

"What the hell do you think I do for Tatsou-san?" her tone was stern, no beating around the bush Nami was looking for straight answers.

Akaiken
And suddenly she was grabbed by her shirt staring at a very irritated-looking Namida.

"Oi, Akai-kun... What the hell do you think I do for Tatsou-san?"

"A-ah that is... ano... you're..." She paused staring at the taller woman and choosing her words carefully as Namida-sama's ego was not something to play with, truly. How could she... ah, well there was that one thing which came to mind... "You're following in your mother's footsteps?"

There was a bit of shaky questioning in her tone at the end but after what was said she was still fairly certain she was correct in her assumptions and so her counter-stare did not falter even as her tone did. Because, well, if not that, then what? and why the weird get-up?? There was really no reason she could think of to excuse the change other than that kind of thing...

Namida
Nami's brows furrowed as Akaiken stumbled over her words. Then finally it came out.

"You're following in your mother's footsteps?"

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Nami wasn't even aware she was shaking Akaiken more rapidly than a maraca.

"You think I'm a whore?!" she cried her expression mortified. Face bright red and her eyes wide. It had been common knowledge among the Somoto-gumi that Soujiro's only her had come from an under aged whore he had screwed her first night under their care. Thats why they knew she had been his, her 'mother' hadn't been touched before then, though shortly after Nami's birth she had been tossed back with the rest of them. Papa had needed an heir not a wife, not that the whore had been worthy of such a title.

Either way this mistake had to be corrected. "I'm the same as you idiot! a yes man, working my way up the food chain, not sleeping with Tatsou-san!"

Akaiken
And before she knew what was happening the red-head found herself being shaken more vigorously than a half-empty can of spray paint in the hands of a nervous tagger.

"You think I'm a whore?!"

By the now-blonde's expression Akai's assumption had been off, by miles. Instant confusion crossed the short woman's face as Namida continued and corrected her before she could even form a response.

"I'm the same as you idiot! a yes man, working my way up the food chain, not sleeping with Tatsou-san!"

"S-sorry. With the way were you talking it just sounded..." The short woman frowned and shook her head a bit and patted the taller woman's shoulder, "I'm relieved but then... why the fuck are you blonde?" The red-head tensed and bit her tongue almost immediately after the words left her. Shit. She was trying so hard to stop talking before her thoughts could assess the words but sometimes it just... fuck.

And then her brain registered the other, somewhat less pertinent parts of Namida's sentence.Yes man? The red-head frowned, honestly a little insulted. Is that all Namida-sama thought they were? Well, she was the heiress of course she never saw direct conflict of ideas. Shunsuke was too clever for that, and had taught Akaiken well in that regard too especially when it came to dealing with the kumichou and his daughter. Of course to her it would seem like they just went along with whatever was said. And Soujiro-sama wasn't stupid either so there was little need to influence his ideas in the first place... but still...

Ah but that was in the past regardless. Akaiken was not even close to that level regarding the Wo Shing. "Ah, no. I'm not doing that I have no desire for rank." She said with a short wave of her hand. "I am all that I ever was and ever will be." and the expression that came over her face was the closest she'd come to a full smile in... well... a very long time. "A sword."

Nami sighed, ah yes the awful white yellow hair she had now. At the mention of her hair she always felt a deep sense of remorse. Sure it looked good, With her pretty face, make up skills, and fashion sense looking good wasn't too hard, but she still hated it. The entire look she had really wasn't her at all. Truth be told she wanted nothing more than to dye her hair back to it's beautiful black color and take something sharp to her frilly clothes. She was getting really tired of looking like a love crazy highschool girl.

"Well...." she started "it's a long story..." she said scratching the back of her head. "why don't we have some tea and I can tell you about it?" She offered.

45 minutes later the girls would find themselves sitting at Nami's kitchen table each with a cup of green tea, Nami's life story since the fire spelled out to Akaiken in as much detail as needed.

"And so that's why I'm here, what about you?"

Akaiken
Akaiken's eyebrows furrowed together a little and she nodded accepting the offer of tea and explanations.

... ... ... ...

Quite some time later she leaned back in the chair nursing the green tea as she collected her thoughts. A lot has happened hasn't it? A deep regret was burrowing through her, but that wasn't something to give voice to now. The gods were surely cruel, only putting them back in the same vicinity after so much had already happened. To be honest the red-head felt like she wasn't really... well... necessary anymore. Namida had become strong. Not that she'd ever been weak per se, but this seemed like a whole new level of strength, of independence. Now, Namida had never been particularly dependent on others, but she'd never been alone before either. But since the fire... and the events that followed after...

Akaiken let out a deep sigh. And what had she been doing all this time?

jack shit

"And so that's why I'm here, what about you?"

"I am here because Wo Shing sent me here. I am with Wo Shing because they invited me. One day I found a card inviting me by name to join the Wo Shing, they promised strength and I took the bait. It sounded like an opportunity to find a good death so naturally I jumped at the chance."
She shrugged rather nonchalantly taking another sip of her tea. "Before that I traveled around Japan a little doing... well... what I do. You saw my card. After all, a sword cannot become a craftsman's blade simply because it no longer has someone to wield it."

Of course, now that Namida-sama lived, she could wield her. But there was that feeling again, that feeling she'd struggled with for so long after the fire. It was almost a despair, this mixture of uselessness and guilt.

To be without use was to be without worth and to be without worth was a death sentence. This was the first lesson she learned from Shunsuke. Soujiro-sama had seen potential in her even though her initial use... didn't... work out as it were.

The red-head stared down into her cup a moment before drinking down the last of it, doing her best to swallow those feelings of worthlessness with the tea. "I've been chasing precisely two things since the fire, strength and death. I've made no connections and truly I'll be surprised if anyone recognizes me by name even within the Wo Shing."
