| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? Nami smiled as the small ding from her kitchen timer sounded. The apartment filled with the smell of fresh baked cookies, kinda off if you actually looked around it. In her living room there were guns on the table taken apart for cleaning, a sword laid on the floor also freshly cleaned, and a punching bag hung from the ceiling beat to hell and back. In the kitchen empty sake bottles cluttered the sink and across the table laid out all her makeup supplies and a mirror. She slipped on her oven mitts and pulled the batch out. After letting them cool a bit she took a small portion of each and wrapped them up nicely. It had been a long time since she had had actual neighbors. Not since the fire really. Her late teenage years had been spent running from the Kayashin-gumi and then after joining Wo Shing she’d been training under Eiji-Sensei and lived within the Wo Shing headquarters in the area. Not exactly the place to go greet your neighbors. Probably wasn’t exactly the best idea to do this now either but father always made it a point to be friendly to the neighbors and it would make him sad if she didn’t do the same. Once the four packages of cookies were wrapped up she placed them in a bag and headed out her door walking a few feet to the right to stand before her neighbors. She set her usually sweet and innocent smile on her face and knocked three times. She had heard this neighbor was not allowed an oven after a kitchen accident, probably some old lady that could barely care for herself if she managed that. The cookies would probably be a welcome surprise… assuming the old lady had the teeth to eat them. |

For once Akaiken was actually home, that is, she didn't have any jobs today. A rare peculiarity to be sure, but since things with the society seemed to be picking up she thought it prudent to keep her calendar open. The headaches were getting worse it seemed and of course considering the pain was concentrated on her eyes, her vision was also feeling strange... well, stranger than usual. And so there she lay on her couch with a cold compress over her eyes. Knock Knock Knock Ah there went the pain again, pounding like- No wait... The red-head jumped up, staring at the door confused and rather alarmed. She never had visitors. Never. Even the landlords were smart enough to leave a letter in her mailbox or call if they needed something. The redhead furrowed her eyebrows and walked up to the door. She peered through the peephole seeing some blonde tart with a bag and a smile on her face. Ah, the fool was probably lost. Of course, Akaiken wasn't completely stupid and heated the area above her hands to at least 120F. A little more than enough to cause a first degree burn, if things turned south. The red-head sighed lightly and pulled open the door with a frown. "Whoever you're looking for, you got the wrong apartment." And then she got a decent look at the girl. She looked almost disturbingly familiar. The red-head's frown deepened as she tried to place that face. |

Nami’s smile faltered into a look of shock. No… couldn’t be… no fucking way. “Ah… hi… sorry” she said her voice shaking as she took a step back and closed her eyes tight pinching the bridge of her nose. It couldn’t be just someone really similar. That was all. “Ah I’m you’re new neighbor…here…” she said offering the cookies to the girl. Defiantly not an old lady and man she sure as hell looked like Akai-kun. Despite being visibly shaken Nami knew she had to pull herself together, it wasn’t Akaiken, it couldn’t be Akaiken, she didn’t survive the fire. Calm down… just calm down… she took a deep breath and seemed to collect herself. Introduce yourself… don’t use your real name… it would suck if the neighbors were able to point Namida Somoto out to somebody. “I’m Ami by the way…” she said with an obviously forced smile. “Sorry for freaking out” yeah she looked kinda crazy right now. “You just really look like someone I knew as a kid…” At this rate her neighbor would probably think her bat shit insane. |

Akaiken immediately tensed when the woman's' expression dropped, one of her hands raising into a fist as she mimicked the other in taking a step back. Although she quickly dropped her hand when the other closed her eyes. Yeah this wasn't a threat. Just some weirdo... “Ah I’m you’re new neighbor…here…” Great, just what she needed, a nosy neighbor. And the contents of the bag were revealed by a sickeningly sweet smell. Thankfully Akaiken had long overcome the problem of vomiting just at the smell of things but it was obvious by her expression that she was at least mildly disgusted by the bag being offered. Damn these polite social situations always put her in an awkward spot... "Ah-no I..." The red-head frowned a moment struggling to find the proper protocol for this type of interaction. "I appreciate the gesture but I'm... allergic." While not medically and technically true, she did have the unfortunate conditioning that, upon eating something sweet or excessively sweet, she'd puke. The red-head eyed the woman carefully, just what the hell had so thoroughly shaken this fool? And then Akaiken's stomach sank, perhaps this girl... recognized her? She swallowed lightly and balled her left hand into a fist again just in case. Damn, she liked this apartment complex though! Moving sucked! “I’m Ami by the way…” And then something clicked. "Namida..." she said in a low whisper as an incredulous expression came over the short woman's face. That's why she looked familiar... at least on her face. But now that she recognized it there was no doubt about it, this woman had Namida's face! But... obviously that was a fluke right? Namida was dead along with all of the others. Not to mention this woman was blonde with brown eyes. Even a tanuki wouldn't fuck up that much if they were trying to mess with her... No, she just looked similar. Pain flashed over Akaiken's face a moment before she shook her head. "You just really look like someone I knew as a kid…” She seemed to flinch at the words. Oh gods this was a cruel joke. They would do this to her wouldn't they? Fucking... But there was nothing she could do about it but try to get through this interaction. Obviously the woman was uncomfortable so if she could just move it along... maybe... "Don't worry about it. Ah, here." Akaiken swallowed her pain and discomfort reaching into her pocket and pulling out her business card. Surely this person wouldn't need her type of services but it never hurt to put her name out there. "Since we're neighbors if you need it I'll help you out." The card was simple with the information centered on it. Akaiken Hogo Protection Services 0XX.XXX.XXXX Edited by Akaiken, Jan 12 2014, 02:11 PM.

The red-head seemed pretty off as well. Must not be big on visitors, she seemed suspicious at Nami’s arrival though she seemed a bit more surprised than one usually would be at just a surprise visitor. Akaiken’s name tauntingly flew through the bottle blonde’s head. Akaiken was never very social, even in the gang she preferred to stay around Nami and Shunsuke; thought it didn’t help everyone was of the opinion that Akaiken should have been killed for her ‘first time incident’ rather than promoted to bodyguard of the heiress… what was she thinking about at this moment?! This was a stanger and she was probably weirder out by Nami acting like a freak in the hallway. Didn’t help she brought an offering the girl was allergic too. The girl awkwardly dismissed Nami’s apology, god this was going horribly; and offered her a business card. Nami bowed slightly and took with a small “thank you….” She trailed off as she brought the business card up to eye level and read the very name dancing around in her brain like a taunting ghost.
Nami wasn’t sure how long she stared at the little piece of paper, could have been a minute could have been an hour but suddenly the world flipped itself into another dimension. Or at least that’s what it felt like. Brown lensed eyes looked up to meet violet, eyes full of confusion, sadness and just a little bit of hope. “Akai-kun?” she asked in a small squeaky voice as tears welled an lips quivered. God let it be true because if it wasn't this would be a cruel joke much to hard to bear. |

It was an uncomfortably long silence, the red-head shifted a bit awkwardly eager to get this conversation over with. It was painful just looking at the woman really. And then the blonde looked back at her with an expression that frankly made the shorter woman even more uncomfortable. "Akai-kun?" Recognition showed instantly on the red-head's face. "N...Namida-sama?" For a minute it felt like she was weightless... all of the pain and guilt and frustration built up from that day seemed to disappear with a feeling the red-head honestly couldn't identify. A look of relief and a smile started to form on the red-head's face when a sudden twinge of pain from her headache grounded her again. Her face fell instantly, tears starting to well up in her eyes. No. No no no. This isn't... I can't do that again! But before any fell she swallowed and her face steeled over, a solid unfeeling mask hiding her emotions as she straightened her posture. "You have to leave. Please, never contact me again." Though as the red-head turned away, harshly closing the door, the taller woman would certainly be able to see the tears fall. |

"N...Namida-sama?" A smile spread across Nami’s face; it was true! it was her! it was Akaiken. The relief on her face was enough to show Nami that it was her long lost friend and fellow member of the Somoto-gumi. She wasn’t the only one left, there was so much to say so much to catch up on- wait Akaiken looked like she was in some pain then the mask, the one she used to everyone else except to herself and Shunsuke, “no…” Nami started reaching out to Akaiken. “Akai-“ "You have to leave. Please, never contact me again." Then tears and a door slam. What… what?! Oh hell no. Nami dropped the things in her hands and grabbed the door handle. Locked of course. What the fuck was going on didn’t Akaiken care? She sure as looked like she did just now. What did she mean “don’t contact me again” aw hell no this was not going to stand. “Akaiken Hogo you open this door this instant” she demanded pounding her fist on the door. So help her Nami was not letting this go, she was not going to turn around and walk back into her apartment and act like a long time friend she thought dead for decade was not living NEXT FUCKING DOOR. “I MEAN IT Akaiken so help me god I will break this fucking door down.” Ten years ago before the fire there was no way Nami would have been able to put much more than a few cracks on the door but now, now nami could blast that thing into splinters with a single good hit granted Akaiken might get hurt if she did but hell SHE was the one being difficult here. “Don’t do this, don’t shut me out, not me.” the pain was evident in her voice but it was also evident she was not going to give up. Nami was never good at leaving shit alone anyways. |

The moment her door clicked she leaned back against it a moment closing her eyes and covering her face with her hand, she heard the handle rattle as Namida surely discovered that Akaiken had locked her out. She took in a sharp hissing breath, it felt like she was being stabbed... But it was better this way. She'd probably have to time things... fuck, no she'd probably have to move... She'd put in a request for reassignment to Tatsuo in the morning and just do her best to avoid the now blonde until she could get far enough away... “Akaiken Hogo you open this door this instant” The red-head's shoulders shook as she grit her teeth the tears silently streaming down her face. It wasn't even worth the fight to stop them this time, this was even more cruel than a joke of the gods... they really must hate her. “I MEAN IT Akaiken so help me god I will break this fucking door down.” Akaiken felt the door behind her move as the woman on the other side pounded on it, and now she was threatening to break it down. Heh it would have been amusing if it didn't hurt so damn much. “Don’t do this, don’t shut me out, not me.” The red-head slid down against the door curling into a ball. "Just leave! Run far away and forget you ever knew me! It's for... It's for your own... your own safety!" Her voice was strained, cracking once or twice as she tried to reign in the emotion. "You have to keep living." |

Namida continued to beat on the door relentlessly making it shake violently with her frantic pounding. No she would not let this go, not this. She would throw away her father’s pendant before walking away from Akaiken. She hit the door over and over again as hard as she could with that small fist of hers, she knew her pinkie fingers… hell the whole side of her hands were probably bruised to hell. At one point the skin on the side of her knuckle split and started laving blood where she pounded and finally her pounds on the door slowed and finally came to a stop. She dropped onto her knees tears rolling down her face, leaving streaks of mascara and eyeliner down her cheeks she pressed her palms against the door. She knew Akaiken was on the other side. She knew she was hurting too. “Please Akaiken, please open it.” she practically whispered. Letting more tears fall. “please.” Finally Akaiken answered. "Just leave! Run far away and forget you ever knew me! It's for... It's for your own... your own safety!" Frustration bubbeled up within Nami. Her own safety? To hell with that. She stoop up again. "You have to keep living." “I have no intentions of dying, and I have no intentions of leaving you alone anymore.” She took a fighting stance, feet shoulder width apart fists up and concentrated moving her chi to her right hand, if Akaiken wasn’t opening the door she was coming in the hard way. She had the cash to pay for the stupid thing anyways. “Last time I’m asking Akaiken, come out or I break down the door… I… won’t leave you alone so don’t leave me alone either!” her voice was desperate the chi flared up in her fist, it was ready if Akaiken didn’t open the door know it would soon be in splinters. |

Akaiken curled up tighter feeling the door violently shiver behind her. At this rate Namida might actually manage to bust it open... but she couldn't bring herself to open it. No matter how much it hurt right now it would be enough to know that her best friend was alive somewhere in the world. Yes, she could live with that. She could seal herself away, after all she'd already decided she wouldn't let her selfishness claim another life. The pounding at the door finally seemed to subside and the red-head allowed herself an almost relieved exhale, but it wasn't over yet... Namida was still there, speaking. “I have no intentions of dying, and I have no intentions of leaving you alone anymore.” "It's not- you can't have it both ways! Do you think that S-... Do you think that Soujiro-sama intended to die?! Of course not and I killed him anyways! Please just leave!!!" Her voice was strained as she shouted through the door, burying her face into her arms. Why couldn't she fucking understand!? “Last time I’m asking Akaiken, come out or I break down the door… I… won’t leave you alone so don’t leave me alone either! "I have to!! I can't- I won't do it! I won't kill you again!!" |
