  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

God had today been exhausting; a move and a hit in a single day. Eiji was overworking her for sure. It wasn’t bad enough that she had to travel all fucking day to get here but right after finally reaching her new apartment (which admittingly wasn’t bad, not in the least) but she had to dress up and go right back out the door. Not even to meet Mr. What’s-his-name, in charge of operations here but to carry out a hit. That’s right, a hit. Sure it wasn’t one that was really all that hard; big time, smooth talking lawyer who had somehow ended up on the Wo Shing shit list. Nami didn’t know what he had done and frankly didn’t care, all that mattered was Wo Shing wanted him to be sleeping with the fishes and well whenever Eiji said jump her response was always “how high?”

She had read up on the target during her travels, the plan had been a simple one. The old seduce, seclude, then slaughter; she’d done it half a dozen times and hell it seemed to work pretty well. This guy didn’t have bodyguards, shit was too easy. The only tough part was her disguise; typically her attire would fall under the categories of short, tight, and skimpy but this Joe was a little different. He sure wasn’t giving the trophy wife much action because according to Wo Shing research his tastes lied a little more on the male side. Late teens to early twenties men to be exact. Luckily Nami had never really had all much chest to speak of (though it was getting tougher to hide it) and was well versed in the cross dressing department. A bit of well placed make up, a lot of hair styling and an outfit perfect for hiding that female figure and she was ready to go.

The mission didn’t take more than a couple hours, the guy took the bait like a starving fish and it wasn’t long till he was stumbling out the door eager to get the pretty collage boy into his hotel room. Nami had played her part well, making sure to keep her voice low, using her eyes and body language do do most of the talking for her as the lawyer had rambled on about all sorts of shit. He had been all too eager to play cat and mouse chasing his ‘playful new lover’ down to the frozen beach late at night. No one was there (because it would be fucking stupid to be there) and the kill was so quick he hadn’t seen it coming. The body was left in the snow under the boardwalk. It was cold as hell froze over so Nami doubted anyone would find him soon. Not unless they went looking for him and even if they did he was last seen with a young man, something she was most certainly not.

After putting some distance between herself and the body she found a little shop closed for the winter to hide behind as she turned herself back into a girl. She dropped her pants revealing a pair of leggings underneath. She rolled the pants up and shoved them into the bag she had with her. swapped out men’s dress shoes for ladies boots, undid her chest binding and let her hair down running her fingers through it, it looked messy as hell but hey she was back to being a woman. For good measure she added a tint of pink to her lips and a few strokes of mascara. Just a student from the nearby university out late after studying; nothing to see here folks. She smiled to herself another job well done as she made her way back towards the populated areas of town. Though… something felt…off…

Tatsou's taken aback expression was expected, still she held onto his hand looking him in the eye. The surprise on his face had started to melt away Oh good...wait...what?!

A look had come over his face, one she had seen before. Her face flushed a red unseen and she looked down, which was a mistake. She hadn't counted on him actually being attracted to her. Eiji-sama had never even bat an eye in her direction like that. She had assumed Tatsou-san would have been that way as well but ... well she could see that it obviously wasn't true.

She squirmed a little, obviously uncomfortable but didn't let go of his hand or turn away from him. It had been a long time since a man had looked at her like that. Sure she got hit on when she was working or walking around in disguise but that was people hitting on 'Tomoe' or 'Ami' not her. This made it way more... real.

In her sudden panic she barely remembered the man sitting behind them. But it was there in the back of her mind. Calm down Nami, we just got to gt out of here. something is definitely off and with Tatsou-san this intoxicated it's better to avoid conflict...

"Ok. Let's get back to your place."

She froze for a moment, her heart skipping several beats. Damn it... why the hell was she so nervous? She took a deep breath that shuddered way more than it should have and forced herself to smile up at her boss. Just focus on getting out of here with no conflict. She had been warned that Tatsou-san was a hot head. That was an understatement. She had expected someone supremely cold and calculating Like Eiji-sama, Not someone so lively, not someone who would go out and eat and drink with her, not someone who would look at her like that.

"ah... yes... um, ok." she stammered out grabbing her bag and standing to her feet, which is what she was looking at now. "if you'll just follow me, it's not too far from here." She turned towards the door, making it a point not to look at the stranger as she made her way out.

Tatsuo stared a bit longer. His cheeks were starting to look a bit red from the sake. His mind was starting to feel a bit fuzzy but he barely noticed. He looked on, enjoying Nami's behavior. She'd been this tough, matter-of-fact kinda person just a second ago, arguing with him for the tiniest of things, a very strong personality; and all of a sudden she blushed and acted all shy on him, all... girly. It was obvious she was playing a role, but he knew she was blushing for real, and her body language was screaming of anticipation.

Could it be she actually...?

"Alright."

He took some money and placed it on the bar, then rose to his feet. He felt heavier, but then again he'd just eaten a lot of food. As he tried to walk he felt strange, weak... no, that wasn't it. He felt... as if the air around him was... thick and he had to make an effort to push his body forward. Nami would feel the same way as she tried to walk towards the door: somehow it seemed as if they were moving in slow motion.

The man finished the second bowl of noodles and started pouring some sake into a cup with a happy sigh. He took a sip, then looked at them, still holding up his half-empty cup.

"Oh? Leaving so soon?"

His voice was sweet and friendly, yet it possessed a strange playful tone which was barely audible.

Her ears burned as she heard Tatsou follow. Oh man what was she gonna do? Was he expecting...that?! sure he was good looking and all but still she had never really... Wait what?

Nami's head cleared of the embarrassment as she realised her body suddenly feeling much heavier. It was like they were in that hyperbolic time chamber from Dragon Ball Z and someone had cranked the gravity up.

The hell...? Her eyes shifted to the stranger. She watched him, wide eyed.

"Oh? Leaving so soon?"

She was very much aware that his intentions were probably hostile. Not to mention both her and Tatsou-san had been drinking and that while she was not too tipsy she also wasn't also completely sober. On top of it she was quite a bit closer to the stranger than Tatsou-san was. That was... Unsetteling.

She attempted to move back toward Tatsou-san. Keeping her eyes on the stranger. She had let her bag drop with abthud. Better to keep her hands free incase of a fight. In fact she was raising those hands to the ready, fists up and prepared to guard her head or to throw a punch if needed.

She felt the chi flow through her body but didn't move it, she didn't know what kind of powers the stranger had and it wouldn't do for him to accuse her of trying to attack and use that as a reason to make an attack of his own. Who knows he might just want to talk.

As Nami made her way back to Tatsuo she would notice she could move freely and unhindered. It was the opposite direction -towards the door- what seemed to be the problem.

"Oi! You guys sure you don't want any more sake, ne? It's a good sake! So sweet!"

Tatsuo looked angry. He stared cautiously at the man with the long, white hair, not taking his eyes off him for even a second. He couldn't move freely, that meant he couldn't close the gap fast enough to cut him down. So he pulled his gun out instead.

"JUST WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU!? I DUNNO WHAT THE HELL YOU DOIN' BUT CUT IT OUT OR I'LL BLAST YOUR ASS!"

The man kept on smiling and simply grabbed the bottle of sake and drank from it with gusto. He downed the whole bottle like it was water, then wiped his lips with a napkin. His movements were elegant and somewhat delicate.

"Oh my, Tatsuo-san! There are ladies present, please mind your manners!"

Tatsuo's heart raced. How did he know his name? Was he an assassin sent to kill the cursed man? Why else would he know Tatsuo's name!? It had to be.

"You little shit..", Tatsuo hissed between his teeth.

He tried raising his arm to point at the bastard's head, but it felt way too heavy... he just couldn't bring the gun up. He looked at Nami, giving her a warning look. To maybe try and convey to her his wish that she'd get away and ran if she could. He motioned with his head towards the door.

"Go."

Nami had positioned herself beside Tatsou-san when he pulled out his gun. She looked over at him wide eyed and so much for being cool... she thought pressing her lips together. Tatsou-san was too drunk for this shit. She looked the stranger up and down. Well shit this was getting worse by the second.

The stranger spoke, oh... he knew who Tatsou-san was.... this wasn't good. Someone against the Wo Shing maybe? a rival gang or triad member? someone with a personal grudge against Tatsou-san? the possible answers were virtually endless. Either way the tattooed man beside her seemed pissed and that was only made worse by the mention of his name. He didn't like the fact the stranger knew him any more than Nami did.

Just when she thought Tatsou-san was going to blow the guy's head off the gun seemed to multiply in weight until Tatsou -san could no longer hold it. He then looked at her and she felt a lump form in her throat. He wanted her to run, to abandon him and get the fuck out. This was crazy... All the other wo Shign higher ups would expect her to sacrifice herself for them, it was a long time since someone had even remotely cared about her well being. Fucking hell...

She gave him a small smile. It was the kind that said 'I'm sorry' as she shook her head. She couldn't leave him, not now. she took a deep breath and lowered her fists.

"No games please," she said calmly and diplomatically. "There must be something you want right? Tell us what it is so we can move on with our night." She clenched her fist at her side, slowly, so very slowly moving her chi to it so that she could make a decent hit if needed. While the stranger had not hurt either of them yet it was hard to take his show of power as anything but hostile. God, all she wanted was a bath...

"Ah! See, Tatsuo-kun! That is much nicer! You've got a lot to learn from your young lady-friend. She truly is a polite, Japanese beauty, no matter how much she tries to hide it."

The man bowed to her as Tatsuo, visibly pissed, tried in vain to move towards him. He had been careless, let his guard down. That's the real reason why he was so angry; it seemed he never learned. It was the reason why he'd been demoted long ago and by the looks of it he hadn't learned anything in all these years.

He clenched his teeth as he tried to regain control over his temper and think clearly. The alcohol was clouding his judgement but he wasn't wasted. he could still put up a fight, and if he couldn't move to fight this guy, then someone else could.

The ink in his body stirred, unseen underneath his coat.

"Ah, but games are fun, are they not, Somoto-san? Just imagine how boring our lives would be without them!"

The man rose from his bowing position and cocked his head to one side, his smile as broad as ever, his eyes completely shut, his long white hair cascading down both sides of his face, framing it and making it look slimmer. His skin was white and silky-smooth and he looked no older than 30.

"Everything we do, and I mean everything, is a game. None of what you see in this ephemeral illusion we call 'world' is real. It is all a game, and as such we have to play our roles in it, whether we are aware of it or not."

That's it. This fucker's going down now!

Tatsuo's skin suddenly sported an empty patch where a fraction of a second ago the picture of an old samurai warrior was. That samurai warrior now stood in the room with them, its helmet almost brushing the ceiling. His gigantic blade instantly swiped in a deadly arch towards the stranger, its force and sharpness able to slice through iron and steel like it was butter.

The man casually raised a hand and stopped it with his index finger. His closed eyes never leaving Namida.

"Oi! Tatsuo-kun, that is not very polite, ne? Not polite at all..."

Nami's blood ran cold, She looked like a western wanna-be in her current blonde ass getup. The only ones who would have any idea of her previous appearance would be someone who knew about her past, her days as the heiress to the Somoto-gumi. Back when her beautiful raven hair fell to her lower back, when she was dressed in beautiful kimonos with just the nape of her neck left visible, her feet adorned in beautiful shiny geta.

Even in the Wo Shing no one knew of these days. Not even Eiji-sama. She had never opened up to anyone about the girl she kept locked up behind behind the mask of frilly clothes, high heels, and way too much make up. Maybe he was from the Kayashins. Had they figured it out, where she was? had someone seen her tattoo and spread word? or was it her starlight eyes that had given it away. It was a strange eye color for a Japanese girl for sure but she had been so careful, so diligent...

She swallowed a lump that had painfully developed in her throat as he bowed to her. He was off. Way off. He was so assured, his demeanor was obviously that of an assassin. Spouting off about about life being all a game and whatnot. She couldn't help but wonder how many 'games' he had ended.

Tatsou-san then acted, or at least she was pretty sure it was his doing. The giant ass samurai sure didn't come from her and considering that he was attacking the stranger it was a safe bet he was on their side. However the sword was stopped as easily as a butter knife. She raised her fists again, her chi flowing through her right hand ready to land a hit as chi began flowing to her legs and her other fist. He may be able to stop a blade but chi isn't something physical you can just stop with a touch. One good hit to his head or chest. That's all she needed.

She took a small step forward to test his powers. If he could weigh her down the way he had Tatsou-san then running at him would do no good.... well unless.... she did have one idea.

"So why are you here then? Who sent you?" she asked keeping her eyes on his closed ones. In this case the smarter one would win, and Nami wasn't ready for a game over yet.

The dark warrior did not stop. The blade went cutting through the air with devastating force over and over again. Each time it was stopped by the man's finger wherever it was meant to strike. He did not open his eyes or even turned to look at the thing attacking him, but merely focused on Nami. His voice as he spoke was rather sweet and melodious, and his tone was actually very friendly.

Tatsuo was baffled... his jaw dropping to his knees if it could go that low. Those blows... they could cut through flesh and bone, they could cut through steel!

Bakemono!

For the first time in a long, long time, Tatsuo felt the bony hand of fear slowly creeping on him.

"Oi, boy! Cut it out alread---"

The man burst into laughter. He even bent, holding his stomach. After a moment he managed to collect himself.

"God that was funny! Oh I'm sorry Tatsuo-kun, I don't mean to offend you, but you got to admit... that was a good pun!"

The man did turn this time to 'look' at him with his closed eyes.

"Now can you please stop that? It is somewhat distracting and I need to address Somoto-san's question"

This was it. She had waited there, still as a statue. The samurai sword would keep his hands at least somewhat busy but she didn't dare move until.... now. The stranger turned to face Tatsou-san and Nami bent low and lunged forward. She expected that the gravity like move would hit her again so she upped her game.

She she lunged she released the chi from her heels to help propel her forward under his arms. As she moved forward she swung her right fist hard aiming an uppercut for his chest. He may be able to stop the blade but this would be a blast of raw power not a solid object. She hoped that even if the hit didn't land perfectly it would still do a great deal of damage.

Tatsuo's eyes widened as he saw her quickly change posture and go in for a hit. It all happened too fast, but it seemed like slow motion to him. He tried to open his mouth, to call it all off if only to save her ass. She had no idea the kind of power she was facing. But before he could it was over.

The stranger's eyes opened slightly as he looked at her from the corner of his left eye as he faced Tatsuo. Her body quickly propelling forward with the aid of her ki. Her fist burning with power as it neared its mark, rushing up and forward to meet the man's chest.

Then his voice echoed in her ear in the form of a whisper, as if spoken from right behind her.

"Somoto-san. I cannot answer your question if you two keep on doing this."

Before she knew it the man was gone from view and standing right behind her, actually whispering into her ear. Her fist hit nothing but air and the warrior's blade was rushing to meet her head as it missed its original mark.

"STOOOOP!!"

Tatsuo managed to scream and the shadow warrior vanished in thin air before the blade sunk in her flesh. His heart was pounding, his mind rushing desperately to try and find a way to get out of this one.
