Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

God had today been exhausting; a move and a hit in a single day. Eiji was overworking her for sure. It wasn’t bad enough that she had to travel all fucking day to get here but right after finally reaching her new apartment (which admittingly wasn’t bad, not in the least) but she had to dress up and go right back out the door. Not even to meet Mr. What’s-his-name, in charge of operations here but to carry out a hit. That’s right, a hit. Sure it wasn’t one that was really all that hard; big time, smooth talking lawyer who had somehow ended up on the Wo Shing shit list. Nami didn’t know what he had done and frankly didn’t care, all that mattered was Wo Shing wanted him to be sleeping with the fishes and well whenever Eiji said jump her response was always “how high?”

She had read up on the target during her travels, the plan had been a simple one. The old seduce, seclude, then slaughter; she’d done it half a dozen times and hell it seemed to work pretty well. This guy didn’t have bodyguards, shit was too easy. The only tough part was her disguise; typically her attire would fall under the categories of short, tight, and skimpy but this Joe was a little different. He sure wasn’t giving the trophy wife much action because according to Wo Shing research his tastes lied a little more on the male side. Late teens to early twenties men to be exact. Luckily Nami had never really had all much chest to speak of (though it was getting tougher to hide it) and was well versed in the cross dressing department. A bit of well placed make up, a lot of hair styling and an outfit perfect for hiding that female figure and she was ready to go.

The mission didn’t take more than a couple hours, the guy took the bait like a starving fish and it wasn’t long till he was stumbling out the door eager to get the pretty collage boy into his hotel room. Nami had played her part well, making sure to keep her voice low, using her eyes and body language do do most of the talking for her as the lawyer had rambled on about all sorts of shit. He had been all too eager to play cat and mouse chasing his ‘playful new lover’ down to the frozen beach late at night. No one was there (because it would be fucking stupid to be there) and the kill was so quick he hadn’t seen it coming. The body was left in the snow under the boardwalk. It was cold as hell froze over so Nami doubted anyone would find him soon. Not unless they went looking for him and even if they did he was last seen with a young man, something she was most certainly not.

After putting some distance between herself and the body she found a little shop closed for the winter to hide behind as she turned herself back into a girl. She dropped her pants revealing a pair of leggings underneath. She rolled the pants up and shoved them into the bag she had with her. swapped out men’s dress shoes for ladies boots, undid her chest binding and let her hair down running her fingers through it, it looked messy as hell but hey she was back to being a woman. For good measure she added a tint of pink to her lips and a few strokes of mascara. Just a student from the nearby university out late after studying; nothing to see here folks. She smiled to herself another job well done as she made her way back towards the populated areas of town. Though… something felt…off…

Nami looked a little surprised, she wasn't arguing....was she?... oh yeah she was arguing with him. She mentally cursed herself a bit placing her elbows on the bar and running her fingers through her horridly blonde hair. It's true what they say, bad habits die hard. Suddenly a bowl was placed before her. She looked up at the smiling old man and smiled back as she quickly took a taste of the ramen so as not to insult him. she found however her appetite wasn't all that strong and only managed to finish about half a bowl full.

She couldn't help but chuckled at Tatsou calling her stubborn. Yeah she knew that. "Yeah yeah, I've been told. Otou-san called it 'strong willed'" she said with an earnest smile. She waited quietly for the man to finish his bowl watching in slight amusement at his animated manner of eating, her chin resting on the palm of her right hand. Tatsou-sam was very different from Eiji-sama that's for sure.

When he turned back towards her she did the same, crossing her legs at the knee and resting her hands on her lap. she gave a small sigh when he pulled out those nasty things but said nothing. Her nose wrinkled as he lit it and took his first drag.

"It seems you need things to be spelled out or else you'll always find a way to contradict whatever you're told. That is one quality Eiji-san isn't very fond of."

Her head tilted slightly and she fanned the smoke away from her with a few waves of her hand. "Yeah I'm aware." she said, eyes looking around the restaurant before resting back on Tatsou. "so you going to tell me why I'm here, or is that on some kind of need to know basis and I 'don't need to know'?" her tone wasn't rude or snappy, the question was in earnest. Wo Shing often had her doing things for reasons she was never told, this could just be one of those things again. Though... that phrasing did seem a little rude.

"Ah sorry, I don't mean to be rude, I'm just curious as to why you would bring me all the way here from Hyakuji." she stopped to yawn, god was she tired, this had been an exhausting day. A hot bath and a warm bed sounded good right now.

Tatsuo's eyes were fixed on hers as she spoke. His face had suddenly turned serious, his expression ice-cold. In a way, if only for a brief moment, he looked much like Eiji himself. His gaze becoming intense, almost threatening. The friendly attitude he sported a moment ago seemed to have vanished.

"Before I answer any of your questions I need to ask you something and I need you to be honest and truthful."

His voice carried a tone of graveness that seemed to indicate he knew something, something serious and that quite possibly Nami's life depended on how she answered this one question. He paused for a moment, not taking his intense gaze off her. When he finally spoke, it was clear what his intentions were.

"You eatin' that?"

Tatsou's sudden change for the serious was...unsettling... his intense gaze made her squirm slightly, why was he looking at her like that? she began fidgeting, her discomfort showing slightly. She listened intesnly as he spoke and would up with an expression mixed up of seriousness and nervousness.

What the hell was he going to ask her? did it have something to do with her past? the Somoto-gumi or maybe Kayashin? she leaned towards him slightly waiting on the edge of her seat for what he said next.

"You eatin' that?"

If this were an anime Namida would've fallen out of her chair, and despite this not being an anime she almost did. What? really? Namida just stared at him gaping like an idiot until she burst out laughing. Her shoulders shook and tears ran from her eyes. She pushed the bowl over to him as a sign of 'here take it'

After she calmed down she sat back up and wiped the tears off her face. "You know, you're pretty weird" She had expected Tatsou to be a hard ass, not funny and ridiculously animated the way he seemed to be.

Tatsuo didn't wait for her to finish pushing the bowl his way and grabbed it instead, eating just as heartily as he'd done with his own plate. He was happy not to have to pay for an extra order; with this much he would be satisfied without getting heavy and bloated. He was the kind of guy who couldn't not-finish what was in his plate. He hated wasting food just as much as he hated littering.

"Aren't we all?"

He continued shoving food in his mouth and in a couple of minutes he was done and happy. That taken care of, he finished the remaining stub of cigarette still sitting on the ash tray and gave a small sigh of satisfaction.

"Anyways, Nami-chan, time for schoolin'.."

He grinned a friendly grin as he turned around and leaned his back and elbows on the bar.

"First of all why you're here and that is very simple. Hyakuji's dead to us. Whatever we needed from there we took already... the entire city's ours, has been for years. Save for talent scouts there isn't much for you to do there, which explains how sloppy you seem to have gotten. No offense, kiddo, just being straight-forward."

As he searched his pockets for yet another cigarette it was obvious he didn't really care whether it bothered the girl or not. When it came to ciggies, there was only one person he cared to put them out for, and she wasn't it.

But alas, he seemed to have ran out of cancersticks. He frowned for a moment at the realization but soon shrugged and continued his speech.

"So you see I've been studying which members seemed worthy of a chance to come here and do something out of their lives instead of rotting there. If you want to get anywhere in life you should be grateful I picked you. The man said you were troublesome and at first I paid it no mind since well, he says that about pretty much everybody, but these few minutes together have given me a good idea what he meant."

The old man brought in more sake. He knew Tatsuo would soon order more and was pleased to see the approval in the cursed man's eyes and smile at the sight of it. He immediately served them both a cup and Tatsuo drank, slowly this time, enjoying the familiar taste.

"As for why I put you through this? It kinda baffles me that you even have to ask. I was making an assessment of your capabilities and current state of awareness. First off we did need that fucker offed and we needed it done soon. Then your arrival to Niwa coincided with it and I decided to try and let you take care of it. It didn't need to be done tonight, but it was better that way: you were tired from a long journey, didn't get time to even know the place or get your shit together, so it was perfect. That way I'd be able to see how you managed in a non-favorable situation and just how resourceful you could be; how you dealt with this sort of mild pressure... you know the drill."

He poured himself another cup... then pushed it aside. He made a gesture to the old man, bringing both fingers to his lips as if smoking. The old man bowed and smiled, then went into the kitchen.

"As for Eiji-san, he hasn't really punched me. Ever. He's never had to. That's the reason why I'm your boss now. Be a good girl, train your mind again and he might care to give you personal assignments someday, but for now I doubt you'll get to see him much, if at all."

Tatsuo brought a hand into his coat once more and started fumbling around, looking for something. At that moment the old man came and placed a cigarette in Tatsuo's mouth, then lit it. His had kept fumbling around.

"I almost forgot. That guy..."

His hand finally emerged from his coat, holding a reddened tissue, which he put on the bar in front of her. The tissue fell open to the sides revealing a bloody eyeball.

"...I did make sure he couldn't talk about it."

Nami sighed, so it was chan now huh? Well that’s what the higher ups usually called her. At least it wasn’t laced with that creepy look she got a lot from some of the men working in Wo Shing. That was the one thing she liked about Eiji-sama, he never hit on her. Tatsou hadn’t so far either so he was probably going to be an ok boss. Kinda crazy but that might play to his advantage in this field.

She listened as Tatsou-san kept speaking, not commenting until he was done. When it became apparent Tatsou-san had run out of cigarettes she pressed her pink lips together to suppress a smile, but couldn’t help but let it slip when he mentioned Eiji-sama had called her troublesome. That was like him, and he really wasn’t wrong either. Namida could be a major pain in the ass and was well aware of that fact.

She nodded to the old man as he set the cups down and smiled at him a grateful smile with a small “arigatou” she picked the cup up and sipped it, closing her eyes and obviously loving the taste and making a mental note to come back another time.

Her smile didn’t waver as he made mention that Eiji-sama had never had to hit him. She just closed her gray eyes and shrugged. “Be glad, it hurts like hell, believe me.” Her sensei may have sent Nami to the hospital once… or twice… or more… “but well he wouldn’t really be training me if he kept his hands to himself now would he?” Convincing the Wo Shing leader had been hard, she had to challenge him over and over again, he damn near killed her but in the end he had agreed to teach her a few things and those few things had raised her fighting abilities by far. It wasn’t everyday you found a girl tiny as her who could splatter a man’s head like a watermelon.

As for not seeing him in a while, well that was probably more of a relief than it should have been, Eiji-sama was one scary motherfucker and Nami had learned enough from him to get her started; she could hone her own skills in combat from here what she needed to learn was how to lead, and that was something she didn’t think Eiji-sama would waste his time with. However, Tatsou-san seemed like he might be the kind of man who wouldn’t mind so much. Sticking around him and watching him work alone would do her a hell of a lot of good. Papa had never intended her to take the reins of the Somoto-gumi so he had never taught her much about how things worked. He had taught her enough to understand, afterall it wouldn’t do for a Yakuza’s wife to not understand the basics at least but never enough to take over, that was supposed to be a man’s job.

It was then Tatsou-san placed something on the bar. Nami leaned forward and tilted her head to see it better, oh! an eyeball she studied it her expression no longer a smile but not a frown either, more curious than anything, how had he gotten it out so cleanly? Must have offed the guy before Nami left the club with Mr. Lawyerman. Her gray eyes moved from the eyeball on the table to Tatsou-san’s. Her smile returned “good.” Was all she said with a little nod. Her overly cutsey body language was starting to become habit, she needed to remedy that before she did something really stupid like call her higher up “onii-chan” or something.

She sat back up and took a sip of her sake. “I am grateful” she said looking down at her cup. Her smile faltered into an expression more serious. “I’m tired of sitting on my hands, all I was doing in Hyakuji was watching goods move from one place to the other and barking out someone else’s orders in four different languages at men who don’t take me seriously. I want to move up, to accomplish something. Even before my father fell I was never expected to be anything more than a wife. Just a binding agent between two powerful households.” She took another drink. "Don't get me wrong I am grateful for everything Outo-san gave me and all I learned, but now I am more interested in seeing how far I can get in this life using my own abilities." she smiled again at Tatsou-san. "And I hope that this move will help us both out. I feel that I just might learn something from you Tatsou-san" she said before taking finishing off her cup of sake.

"I'll drink to that!"

Tatsuo raised his cup towards her then downed the last one drink he'd be having that night. It was however, one drink too many and he knew it.

The moment he put it down the door behind them opened.

Strange. I was sure I'd locked it behind us.

Upon looking they would see a man walk in, a silly smile on his face. His hair was snow-white and his eyes seemed half-closed. He was wearing a yukata, which was pretty strange for such a freezing weather. He merely stepped in, gave a tiny nod and sat down at one of the tables. The owner of the joint seemed just as puzzled for a moment, then seemed happy to take the man's order.

Tatsuo glanced towards Nami for a moment, trying to convey his suspicion to her, then decided to act normal. If this guy was to be any trouble they'd just have to deal with it. It was Niwa after all, and metas became more and more common every day; being resistant to low temperatures wasn't much of a power either. Still, he exercised a little caution when talking to her from this point on and keeping his voice down, barely audible to her.

"Anyways, Somoto-san.. I didn't mean to be rude just to piss you off. The reason you're here is because I do believe you are valuable and have good potential, but most importantly I believe you to be loyal, not just to Wo Shing but especially to Eiji-san. These are strange days, and there seems to be a bit of a power struggle within our group; there are some who want us out altogether... and especially him."

The old man had retired to the kitchen to prepare the order for the new guest, who seemed to be staring into space from the other side of the room.

Nami smiled at Tatsou-san’s comment; he really was ludicrous. Just then a man walked in. Nami tensed at the sight of the yukata clad man. Her defensive instincts kicking in. She noticed Tatsou-san was suspicions as well but probably for other reasons. She wasn’t even sure he had any idea about how she wound up in the Wo Shing in the first place.

Either way neither of them were happy about the guest and even the old man seemed surprised. Hadn’t Tatsou-san locked the door too? The man was obviously not a normal human. Tatsou-san then lowered his voice, damn he must not want to be overheard. Nami leaned closer to him, so problems within the Wo Shing huh? Well whatever happened Nami would stick by Eiji-sama. He was one scary motherfucker and she had no desire to be on the receiving end of his blows. Especially if they were serious ones.

She finished her drink as well growing more and more uncomfortable with the new man’s presence just a short distance from them. “Hey… should we go somewhere else?” she asked in a whisper, she wondered if the man could hear them despite their whispering though, to wear a yukata so light in this cold he couldn’t be normal, who knows how good his hearing was too. She reached out and touched his hand. “Somewhere more private?” she asked, to anyone else it would look like…well… what it probably looked like in the first place. A thug trying to get some from some blonde girl he picked up at a bar. However Nami’s eyes were serious. She wanted to know what was going on.

Tatsuo looked at her for a moment after she spoke and became a little pissed. Why should they move from their chairs? Just because that guy was stupid enough to bare his balls in plain winter it did not mean they had to be afraid!

"Why should we?"

The old man came out holding a large tray with two bowls of the exact same noodle soup they'd just had and an even larger bottle of sake. The man smiled broadly and even clapped as the food was being placed before him. He immediately took one bowl with one hand and the chopsticks with the other. He raised his bowl towards Nami and Tatsuo and smiled, then started eating like a starving pig.

"Fuck that guy. I can just kick him out."

Tatsuo reached for yet another cup of sake. He would have stopped the drinking by now, but he was starting to get a little tipsy and that interfered with his good judgement.

Not the answer Nami had been expecting. They were having a serious conversation and the stranger was giving Nami a hell of a case the creeps. She shuddered at the way he lifted his bowl to them. So gross! And ugh Tatsou-san was being a major pain in the ass. He was obviously the stubborn kind. She opened her mouth to retaliate but paused, she had to be careful, didn't want to complain too loudly about wanting to know Wo Shing buisness with this weirdo stranger around. Not to mention if the guy was trying to gather anything he might have an idea as to who Tatsou-san was. Better to not use names and go with another way of wording it, hopefully Tatsou-san would catch on.

Her face flushed pink, an obvious blush. She turned fully towards him and placed her other hand on his as well while leaning forward. God this was embarrassing, and she let it show but added a touch of shyness to it. She parted those pink lips and uttered the words she knew she would regret later on.

"Onii-san..." she said fidgeting a bit, her face turning more pink. "Can we please leave?, talking here is so embarrassing now." oh god she was dying. This was almost too much to bear but well, they looked like what they looked like. Best to just go with it and keep the act up.

"You sure you don;t want to head back to my place?" she asked with a slight pout.

What...the...fuck?

Tatsuo was taken aback at first. Her hand on top of his surprised him almost as much as her words.

"Onee-san..."

The look in her eyes, that pleading look... suddenly kicked his mind out of business mode and opened his eyes to the fact that she was a woman... and a very attractive one at that; his primal side awakened and blood started leaving his head and heading south.

Then he shook it off. She was playing... some sort of role to get him out of there and away from that guy.

What is she trying to do? Why's she so afraid?

Maybe he was missing something. She wouldn't be acting that way if she hadn't noticed something... something important. Perhaps he was getting drunk already and thus he wasn't seeing it? He decided it was probably better to play along. Besides, going back to her place? It didn't sound half bad.

His boner agreed.

"Ok. Let's get back to your place."

On the other side of the room, the man was starting his second bowl of noodles.
