  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

God had today been exhausting; a move and a hit in a single day. Eiji was overworking her for sure. It wasn’t bad enough that she had to travel all fucking day to get here but right after finally reaching her new apartment (which admittingly wasn’t bad, not in the least) but she had to dress up and go right back out the door. Not even to meet Mr. What’s-his-name, in charge of operations here but to carry out a hit. That’s right, a hit. Sure it wasn’t one that was really all that hard; big time, smooth talking lawyer who had somehow ended up on the Wo Shing shit list. Nami didn’t know what he had done and frankly didn’t care, all that mattered was Wo Shing wanted him to be sleeping with the fishes and well whenever Eiji said jump her response was always “how high?”

She had read up on the target during her travels, the plan had been a simple one. The old seduce, seclude, then slaughter; she’d done it half a dozen times and hell it seemed to work pretty well. This guy didn’t have bodyguards, shit was too easy. The only tough part was her disguise; typically her attire would fall under the categories of short, tight, and skimpy but this Joe was a little different. He sure wasn’t giving the trophy wife much action because according to Wo Shing research his tastes lied a little more on the male side. Late teens to early twenties men to be exact. Luckily Nami had never really had all much chest to speak of (though it was getting tougher to hide it) and was well versed in the cross dressing department. A bit of well placed make up, a lot of hair styling and an outfit perfect for hiding that female figure and she was ready to go.

The mission didn’t take more than a couple hours, the guy took the bait like a starving fish and it wasn’t long till he was stumbling out the door eager to get the pretty collage boy into his hotel room. Nami had played her part well, making sure to keep her voice low, using her eyes and body language do do most of the talking for her as the lawyer had rambled on about all sorts of shit. He had been all too eager to play cat and mouse chasing his ‘playful new lover’ down to the frozen beach late at night. No one was there (because it would be fucking stupid to be there) and the kill was so quick he hadn’t seen it coming. The body was left in the snow under the boardwalk. It was cold as hell froze over so Nami doubted anyone would find him soon. Not unless they went looking for him and even if they did he was last seen with a young man, something she was most certainly not.

After putting some distance between herself and the body she found a little shop closed for the winter to hide behind as she turned herself back into a girl. She dropped her pants revealing a pair of leggings underneath. She rolled the pants up and shoved them into the bag she had with her. swapped out men’s dress shoes for ladies boots, undid her chest binding and let her hair down running her fingers through it, it looked messy as hell but hey she was back to being a woman. For good measure she added a tint of pink to her lips and a few strokes of mascara. Just a student from the nearby university out late after studying; nothing to see here folks. She smiled to herself another job well done as she made her way back towards the populated areas of town. Though… something felt…off…

Boring. That was the word that came to Kabuto Tatsuo's mind every five minutes or so for the last two hours. He had set this whole thing up with the sole intention of observing Namida and although she had managed to complete her mission without breaking a sweat, it had taken her TWO FUCKING HOURS TO DO IT.

He was freezing, despite the several layers of warm (yet thin) clothes and the thermal underwear, and he wasn't amused. Now the girl took her sweet time to change her appearance in the middle of the fucking street... kind of, before heading home.

He sighed loudly as she started out of the back alley.

"Not bad."

If she turned to look his way he would see him lighting a cigarette, his body mostly covered by a black trench coat.

"But not good either."

He waved the match to put the fire out- in this cold his lighter got stuck often so he changed it for good old matches, and walked towards her.

"Welcome to Niwa, Somoto-san."

If Nami were to say she was surprised by a man in a trench coat appearing out the shadows and calling her by name after her killing someone it would be a lie. The whole thing had probably been bullshit from the start, that was the way the Wo Shing worked, go around your ass to get to your elbow sort of deal.

"Tatsou-sama" she replied with a well practiced bow perfectly humble as a good Japanese woman should be. When she raised her head she glanced the man up and down, he certainly was dressed for the cold alright and an amusing thought entered her mind. If this whole hit had been to test her then he had probably been watching her all along, in the cold for two hours. Now that was funny. She bit her lower lip to stop from smiling.

"I take it, based on your comment you were observing my skills?" she shifted her weight to one leg and tilted her head slightly as she continued to look him up and down obviously at ease, kind of an odd sight since Nami looked nothing like the type to be comfortable in a dark alley with a strange man much bigger than she. Although a couple years of training under Eiji himself would probably desensitize anyone to intimidating people; hard to be scared by demons when you've stared Satan in the face on a daily basis. Still a part of her did feel sorry for the poor guy, it was cold as hell and he was just following orders. She flashed him an apologetic smile.

"had I known you were watching I would have speed up my process, you must be cold." she gave a small bow again and shrugged. "Please forgive me, I was not told to make it speedy, I will make sure to adjust that in the future." while there was no sarcasm in her words her amusement of the man's suffering to watch her kill a random stranger was not exactly completely hidden.

"Heh"

He looked at her for a moment, noting her amusement. He didn't hold it against her though, god knows he'd probably be laughing his ass off if he were in her place. He let out some smoke out of his nostrils before walking towards, and past her, the cigarette still dangling from his mouth as he spoke.

"I wasn't observing your skills, I know how skilled you are. I was observing your judgement."

He continued walking down the street, making it obvious that she should follow.

"It doesn't matter how long it takes you to do it. We've had marks which have taken us years to eliminate. But in all cases the time it took us was the absolute least time possible within our capabilities."

They were starting to approach a more transited area, where the small back street met the main avenue that was the Broadwalk. It was well-lit and there were quite a few passer-byes.

"So I'm a bit curious as to your method of choice."

While Tatsou-sama was kinda hard to read he didn’t seem mad at her. That was a good start right? She followed him though waved the cigarette smoke from her face. She never cared for the smell of them. As they walked she took care to remain in step though his walking pace was a bit quicker than her normal one. She seemed not the least bit concerned with their destination despite having just met this man. Gray eyes remained fixated on him as he spoke. Her gaze full of curiosity

Judgment huh? Sounded like he wasn’t completely happy with it. She sighed and adjusted the bag on her shoulder, she shrugged again using both her arms as she did. She did take the longer road sure but well it did get done. Her expression becoming slightly agitated at the mini speech. She hated explaining herself to the higher ups, always felt like she was making excuses when she did.

“Well…” she started but stopped when an older man passed closely by. Ugh she hated talking in public. She moved closer to Tatsou and lowered her voice slightly. “well to be honest I’m a little new at the whole off ‘em and drop ‘em side of the business, and I really didn’t want to stir up any trouble being new here. Not entirely up to date on all the business going on here and god knows you’d be pissed if I stepped on the wrong toes and started shit for the big WSS. So I looked at my options and thought this would be the least disruptive way to deal with it. I even took his wallet so it’ll look like a mugging gone wrong if someone does find our buddy anytime soon.” She explained, the whole time looking instead at the passerbys making sure to pause or lower her voice when needed. She wasn't trying to make excuses but it still was uncomfortable for her to have to explain her method of thinking and it was probably obvious by her body language.

"Sorry again about you being in the cold so long though, I just figured in such an unfamiliar area it'd be discretion over speed ya know? " she asked turning back to him tilting her head slightly as she did.

Tatsuo took a few glances her way as she spoke and noted her behavior. She was a good girl, seemed to know how to carry herself around at least. Perhaps she was just a bit rusty.

"All that is true. Being cautious is always good, of course. But did the longer you take to complete a task, the longer you are exposed and the greater the risk. You know all this, or you should by now."

He pulled out another cig as he finished the last drag form his current one. He usually took at least a few seconds between them, but he needed to feel the hot smoke in his lungs so bad... made him all warm and fuzzy.

He walked, moved, and talked casually, as if people around him couldn't hear him.

"Even when you think you have it all figured out and your plan is flawless, you can never be sure what the result will be. Sure, it seemed easy enough. But did you know he was being tailed by another gang? Did you know he owed a ridiculous amount to Big Momma? Your assassination prevented them from collecting and they're going to be pissed. Here, follow me!"

Tatsuo ran across the street towards a small noodle shop that seemed to still be open at the far end and waited for her to join him before continuing.

"Now you might think that's got nothing to do with you as long as nobody sees you do it. But what if I told you you were being watched, and not just by me?"

He took his cigarette, put it out on the sole of his shoe and stored it in his pocket for later use.

Ugh this was starting to become a headache and a half. Not to mention his chain-smoking wasn’t helping. She’d have to wash her hair again when she got home to get the smell out. She sighed at his slight reprimanding, it was like being with her uncle all over again.

“Yes yes I know, there was a reason for my attire, I’m not a big girl but chest binding still hurts ya-know.” There was a slight pout to her face as she spoke, it had been a long day and she hadn’t eaten since noon. This conversation was so not helping her mood on top of it. God was she tired, a hot bath and a warm sake sounded like heaven right now.

Oh lordy was he serious? that made no sense at all, why would Sensei send her out after a target that was going to result in such a shitstorm later on? Sure she was dressed a as boy and that’s what …big momma?... what a fuckin retarded name, would be looking for. Not a petite blonde girl just moved into town…and where the hell.. oh ramen… what? Now? Still she followed him taking care to look for cars as she did.

"Now you might think that's got nothing to do with you as long as nobody sees you do it. But what if I told you you were being watched, and not just by me?"

At that she reached out to grab his arm to stop him from entering the shop. She lowered her voice and stared him in the eye.

“You talk like I had a choice to say no; Sensei told me to off the guy, to off him tonight. I don’t argue with Sensei, it keeps me a hell of a lot healthier to just do what he says ya know? That said you obviously knew I was coming and followed me from the start, I would think you being mr. head hancho when sensei’s away, would make sure that if someone were to see something they shouldn’t they wouldn’t be able to talk about it.” she then let her hand drop and bowed slightly

“I apologize if my words have offended you Tatsou-sama but believe me when I say I acted not without much thought and did what I did for the organization and under orders.” When she raised her head he would see she was serious, she took a deep breath and relaxed slightly before managing a small smile. "sorry, to get serious on ya, hope it didn't spoil your appitie"

Tatsuo looked at her long even after she spoke, merely sipping at his cig now and then. He didn't seem upset, but curious instead. He raised a hand casually and scratched his head as people went in and out of the shop. His stomach grumbled a little but he paid it no mind. When he spoke his voice was cool and even friendly, no trace of anger in it.

"It's curious how you refer to him as 'sensei'. You seem to feel as if you are his pet and thus are entitled to bitching, whining and making excuses for your sloppy performance. You've been in Wo Shing for a long time now, so I assumed you'd know better. Looks like I have a long way ahead of me in regards to your training. Now come in."

He turned around and simply entered the shop. It was a little run-down, old, greasy-looking joint and it seemed the place was about to close. There was a half-asleep drunkard sitting at the bar and only one occupied table at a far end, a group of three men who had just arrived and looked like they were freezing and in need of a hot meal.

Tatsuo stood there and looked at each one of them in the eye.

"Place just closed. Get out."

They looked at him for a moment, their faces bearing a puzzled expression. Then the old man behind the bar came out and started ushering them out, bowing repeatedly at Tatsuo as he did. They looked disappointed, but as Tatsuo opened his jacket to reveal his tattoos they looked away and hurried out. Looking the part wasn't always bad.

He sat down.

"Good evening, Hitomi-san! It's cooold outside! Can we get some noodles and hot sake? I need to put some life in me!"

The man bowed and went to the back after locking the entrance. They were alone now.

"Sit down, honey. You look like you need to chill out."

The sake was served and Tatsuo didn't waste a second. He loved hot beverages and had quite the throat for them, as it was made obvious by him emptying his cup in one go.

"You have to know, Namida-kun... Eiji-san never contacted you. How long has it been since you last saw him, a year? Two? I guess you were excited to believe he requested you in, gave you a mission upon your very arrival... but it was all me."

Tatsuo emptied a second cup and wiped his mouth before slamming his cup on the wooden bar.

"THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING 'BOUT!"

He sighed in pleasure, enjoying the after-taste of the sake still in his palate.

Nami was lucky Tatsou-san wasn’t as malevolent as some of the other higher ups in the Wo Shing, Namida had seen all sorts of tortures carried out on underlings as ‘discipline’ and with her beign a woman it could be all the worse. But instead of getting angry with her he just scratched his head. Nami just stared at him expecting the worst and was surprised by his…friendly? Tone of voice.

Wait….what? what?! Did he just call her Eiji’s pet?!?!?!?!? A sort of dumbfounded shock came over nami that quickly burned up into anger. Bitching she could forgive but whining and making excuses? She did not whine. Not even in the slightest and hey she was just being honest. Eiji was a scary motherucker to cross and she for one did not want to be back in the hospital by his hands AGAIN. Her hands balled into fists and her shoulders shook as she struggled to real in the anger. After taking a few deep breathes she calmed herself and followed him in. Asshole that he was being she was still his underling here. had to be respectful.. she had already stepped out of line once tonight.

She said nothing as Tatsou sent the men on their way, Thought they did give her some questioning looks. Well to be fair Nami didn’t exactly look like the type of girl to be running around with a man like Tatsou late at night. She approached as he greeted the old man and placed his order. As the old man passed her Nami offered a lovely smile and a slight bow to him, She took her seat, eye twitching slightly at the word ‘honey’.

No sooner had she sat down the sake was set down before them. Before Nami could even move Tatsou-san had downed a cup like a man dying of thirst. She just stared.

She opened her muth to speak but was cut off by Tatsou-san.

"You have to know, Namida-kun... Eiji-san never contacted you. How long has it been since you last saw him, a year? Two? I guess you were excited to believe he requested you in, gave you a mission upon your very arrival... but it was all me."

Oh boy, a whole new wave of pissed off flowed through her. What he fuck was this guy’s deal, why the hell would he pose as Eiji to give her orders when he outranked her and could just give her orders anyways? She looked away for a moment as he downed his second cup like a mad man and realed in her anger. Remaindering herself to keep calm and that punching this man in the head with a full on CEH would probably get her killed as well. Not worth it.

“First of all I call Eiji-sama my sensei because that is what he is. He has taught me much in the art of combat and for that I am grateful, I call him sensei out of respect. The same way I call my uncle Toshi sensei for teaching me taijutsu in the first place. I have always been taught to give honor where it is due.” She spoke carefully and calmly, thought there was traces of a slight sadness when she brought up her uncle, she took Tatsou’s upturned cup and swiped the sake bottle pouring herself some as well, though rather than gulp it down like a madman she sipped it a bit slower and savored the flavor of it, she had to admit for a cheap looking shop they had good sake.

She set the cup down and turned to look Tatsou-san.

“secondly... let’s be clear, I don’t get the point of you putting me through all this tonight or you using sensei’s name to get me to do something and frankly it kind of pisses me off. No… it does, it does piss me off.” She said bluntly but calmly. “I never cared for games and I find that I still don’t”

She poured herself another glass. As she poured though, a smile creeped over her face. the kind she was trying to fight but couldn't for some reason.

“Also to be clear, I am not sensei’s… pfft….p-p-pet.” she managed out as her voice broke into laughter. She put the sake down on the bar to refrain from spilling it as she held her sides and laughed softly to herself. The idea was so ridiculous it was funny. It didn’t help that she was imagining Eiji with a blonde dog going ‘sit Nami’ after a couple of minutes she regained her composure but the smile was stuck to her face.
“and to also I was so much ‘excited’ as I was ‘terrified of pissing him off’ when it cam to the whole mission thing. Have you ever been hit by EIji-sama? It’s not fun…trust me it’s really not fun.” She said shaking her head and picking the sake cup back up to finish off her second round.

“that’s two for two bossman, you up for another round?” she asked picking the bottle up and flashing him a grin. "maybe you can tell me why the fuck you want me here so bad if i'm such a horrible excuse for a member? I mean based on what you said it sounds like my being here wasn't sensei's decision at all. It was yours."

"You done arguing?"

Tatsuo didn't look at her, his attention was too fixated on the huge bowl of Ramen being placed in front of him. Boy he was hungry! He took his chopsticks and ate heartily, not quite being a pig but he could certainly use some coaching at table manners.

"He schaid you were schtubborn."

He kept on eating as another bowl, just as big was placed in front of Nami. The old man grinned at her and bowed, waiting for her to have a taste. Tatsuo meanwhile couldn't care less for her long rant. He'd been listening patiently as she listed and retorted to every fucking little thing he'd said like it was important. As if anyone but her cared. Then his day was brightened by the sight of warm food and he yielded to the joy of filling his belly without a second thought. Their conversation would have to wait.

Finally he grabbed the bowl with both hands and emptied the broth down his throat. he was careful this time not to break it as he replaced it on the bar; the old man seemed very happy to get it back intact this time. Tatsuo came here at least once every other week or so, and he usually broke stuff.

Tatsuo laid back for a moment and searched his jacket for his pack of cancersticks, as he called them and lit one up. Right now life was good, and he was in a good mood.

"Alright!"

Tatsuo finally turned to face her again.

"It seems you need things to be spelled out or else you'll always find a way to contradict whatever you're told. That is one quality Eiji-san isn't very fond of."

The cursed man took a few more drags of heavenly smoke, enjoying ever second of it before he finally had to start talking. He rarely ever did this sort of thing, but he knew she needed it. Her attitude was something they needed to work on right away if she were to be of any use.
