Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

Tenshi Island ~ Kagami-Ji ‘The Mirror Temple’

The Mirror Temple situated on Tenshi Island lay in its usually state of peace and harmony. The surrounding forest and the temple grounds were covered in two inches of snow. The numerous reflective pools were frozen over, adding to the serenity of the building. Beyond the pollution of the city lights there would be no moon rising in the sky that night. What light there had been was few and far between. Lanterns adorned and lit much of the temple itself and the immediate gardens.

What did stand out were the abundance of heavily armed men patrolling the perimeter of temple grounds. What few genuine temple goes had been ushered from the building hours early so it could be transformed into the staging ground for the Xin Hop meeting. The Empress, Qiao Xifeng had gone to some pains to bring her potential backers to this place under the cover of a new year celebration. Paradise Park had a fireworks display planned for the evening that promised to light up the sky at the appointed hour. Not that Xifeng could see it.

The limousine rolled to a stop at the front of the temple, when the door opened a single unimpressive figure stepped out. She was average height, though on the thin side. Her dead, lifeless red eyes fell on the men around her who seemed to visibly shrink from her. Her dress was business formal, her short hair framing around her face. As she stepped towards the temple of pair of well built bodyguards fell into stride behind her. Even from a distance it was obvious the size and potential strength of her personal guards was attributed to far more than performance enhancers.

“See that my guest are shown in the moment they arrive.”

Her tone was completely flat, but there was something of a smile on her features. Tonight was going to be something spectacular. One of the defining moments in the Triad war, if there was even going to be a war. After tonight, Jin Tsui and his Tai Yeung mongrels would roll over and sit or she would give them a new meaning of play dead.

(( Sorry guys, I could have rolled with just about anything ~ except the other event coordinator pulling out on me. I will not be continuing this event as it was intended to be in Star's absence. My apologies to everyone, I know that I have been enjoying this event ~ but real life always comes first. Thank you all for coming and making the event something special.

I will be posting a conclusion up for the Empress in a few days, so everyone please feel free to slaughter as many of the Xin Hop human NPCs as you like. Make it a spectacular bloodbath ~ or simply find some closure and exit your character from the event.

As for an Act in the greater Triad War, I see this event as a success ~ even if the Empress will manage to escape. The war will continue!! ))

Wackman
The crescent blade smashed and planted itself on the roof, where his intended victim stood. Ben had seen him vanish before the blade pierced his flesh, and he quickly looked around, he caught him by the corner of his mask. Things seems to be going in slow-motion as the adrenaline filled his senses, he turned to face him before the cloak could take form, and he back away, barely away from his attack.

The cloak had been torn, and only a few inches more and it would be his own flesh. How exhilarating. He let go of a laugh, a hearty and amused one as he grabbed his cloak by the shoulder. The man couldn’t reach him where he was; floating at his height above the abyss. With one swift movement that cloak was removed from his body, floating above his head, and being taken away by a gust of wind.

He was beautiful, his black tuxedo, white glove and a simple rose above his dress pocket. The cap unfurled along his back as the wind took his cloak, and it fluttered elegantly behind him. The mask was still present, still grinning, enjoying the glow of the moon and the flickering lights below. He crossed his arms and faced the meta-teleporter.

« I apologize for ruining your suit”
He bowed lightly as he held a hand over his chest. His gaze was fixated on him; he couldn’t help but chuckle as he stood himself straight and extended his arms to the side: a knife emerging from each sleeve and into his grasp.

“Since you managed to survive, and you…”
He patted his ear to where his communication device was located.
“Are keeping tabs of the carnage below, I have a simple proposition for you. Tell me where your Empress is, and I swear to give her a quick and painless death.”

He grinned under his mask.

Ben had no intention of listening to this man. As soon as he’d let his guard down, he was going to fly forward and try and jam his blade in his neck. He was ready in case he missed too.

Eiji
As the girl turned her back to him and walked away, Eiji's eyes closed for a split second, just to focus better in the invisible world around him. He could sense with great detail everything happening in and out of the temple. From the gunners shooting at his people outside to the ones running to the back door, to teleporter fighting the floating man above the roof... and the girl dying alone outside. His eyes were open before that one second elapsed.

He could hear the girl barking orders at her men and decided he'd waited enough. His presence here had been a waste of time for the most part. He could have gone around and murdered Xin Hop meat-puppets anytime without risking any losses, but he figured if anything, it would serve as field training for his people.

He wasn't planning on killing her himself, but he couldn't just let her go that easily. He could however, make it a lot easier for the Tai Yeung assassins to accomplish their task if they were even up to it. In the Head of the Wo Shing's eyes, Xifeng was no longer a gang leader but merely a deluded child, intoxicated by her hatred and ego. So it was the best for her, really. A bullet to the head would be a far better death than she’d get from him and his people, and as much as she might deserve it this poor girl was mentally handicapped, she'd simply lost her mind.

When the snake girl approached, Eiji did not raise his gaze. It seemed however, there was at least one person in this group who could actually think straight.

"There is. Take radio from one of the corpses and tell your people the empress is about to die. If they don't want to follow her steps they should drop their weapons. I will send for you after this is over."

He hadn't finished speaking the last word when the men surrounding him started getting their heads smashed against the wall, their bodies flying backwards as if hit by a truck, then their skulls smashed against the wall like watermelons hit by a sledgehammer, spilling their brains on the walls and floor... until all eight of them were lying on the ground, practically headless. Eiji hadn't moved a finger.

Finally the leader of Wo Shing stood up and raised one arm, casually pointing his open palm in the girl's direction.

The ground trembled for a second. Tiny particles of stone and dust raised from the ground, suspended in mid-air as a wave of raw Ki emerged from the man’s body; the mirrors hanging from the temple’s walls cracked, then exploded as Eiji’s power was unleashed.

The stone floor cracked and caved in towards the Empress, the powerful blast of invisible energy destroying everything in its path. Chairs and furniture were reduced to splinters, the stone from the walls was blasted and reduced to dust, the few corpses that were laying in the way exploded as if hit by a grenade, as the devastating force of the blast left a round, tunnel-like path behind it which encompassed the floor, walls and ceiling. All in the blink of an eye.

Now of course there was a chance that she didn’t get hit. He was actually counting on that to happen. Perhaps her bodyguards were tough enough not to be completely disintegrated and thus saved her life. Maybe she would actually manage to dodge it altogether… or maybe she would die right there and then.

Either way he no longer cared what the outcome was; he had wasted enough of his precious time here.

Eiji simply turned around and started walking away towards the main entrance. He would gather his men and exit the premises, hopefully before the police arrived.

--------------------------------

Tatsuo was quite aware of the third man long before he turned to point his gun at the cursed man. He wasn’t crazy enough to try to outrun a bullet though, he knew he wouldn’t make it before the thug pulled the trigger.

But someone else could.

The moment the gun fired the stream of bullets hit the body dead-on. They logged themselves in it, not really tearing flesh or even exiting through the limbs and soft spots as they normally would in a human body, for it was not Tatsuo they were hitting but a much larger, darker man. A man wrapped in shadow save for the pair of furious red dots that served as eyes. It was twice as tall and wide as a regular man and seemed to be clad in ancient samurai armor. It ran forward towards the gunner, having appeared out of thin air in front of Tatsuo right before the first bullet left the mag’s chamber.

Tatsuo ran behind it as it took the full load of lead before it swung the gigantic sword it wielded and cleaved the man in two.

Then they split, one shooting an enemy, the other cutting through another, unfazed by the gunfire. The ink in Tatsuo’s arm shifted and came alive once more, producing a gigantic snake that dashed speedily on the snow-covered ground, taking care of whatever nuisances were still trying to make trouble.

Outside, the drivers of the Wo Shing limos had received the signal as well. In their case it did not mean they should come in and engage, but they should prepare for a quick getaway while covering the others as they got in the cars. However as they saw the eight Xin Hop men open fire on their mates they instantly got out of their cars and simply unloaded their clips on them. They were after all right in front of them, their backs turned, all other sounds muted by their firing guns.

They were sitting ducks.

Unfortunately they were able to actually kill a few Wo Shing men before they died.

As the carnage was starting to subside, Eiji stepped out of the building and into the yard. He walked leisurely down the steps, a few bullets bouncing off his body the moment they came in contact with it.

“Let’s not waste any more time here.”

He kept on walking towards the cars, knowing they would follow. As they all took their seats he met Tatsuo’s inquiring gaze. He was raising an eyebrow as if saying ‘I told you so.’

“I know.”

Perhaps he would take the time to consider Tatsuo’s views more seriously in the future.
