Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

Tenshi Island ~ Kagami-Ji ‘The Mirror Temple’

The Mirror Temple situated on Tenshi Island lay in its usually state of peace and harmony. The surrounding forest and the temple grounds were covered in two inches of snow. The numerous reflective pools were frozen over, adding to the serenity of the building. Beyond the pollution of the city lights there would be no moon rising in the sky that night. What light there had been was few and far between. Lanterns adorned and lit much of the temple itself and the immediate gardens.

What did stand out were the abundance of heavily armed men patrolling the perimeter of temple grounds. What few genuine temple goes had been ushered from the building hours early so it could be transformed into the staging ground for the Xin Hop meeting. The Empress, Qiao Xifeng had gone to some pains to bring her potential backers to this place under the cover of a new year celebration. Paradise Park had a fireworks display planned for the evening that promised to light up the sky at the appointed hour. Not that Xifeng could see it.

The limousine rolled to a stop at the front of the temple, when the door opened a single unimpressive figure stepped out. She was average height, though on the thin side. Her dead, lifeless red eyes fell on the men around her who seemed to visibly shrink from her. Her dress was business formal, her short hair framing around her face. As she stepped towards the temple of pair of well built bodyguards fell into stride behind her. Even from a distance it was obvious the size and potential strength of her personal guards was attributed to far more than performance enhancers.

“See that my guest are shown in the moment they arrive.”

Her tone was completely flat, but there was something of a smile on her features. Tonight was going to be something spectacular. One of the defining moments in the Triad war, if there was even going to be a war. After tonight, Jin Tsui and his Tai Yeung mongrels would roll over and sit or she would give them a new meaning of play dead.

Akaiken
Akaiken's dark violet eyes flashed towards Tatsuo as he spoke, starting to give her the orders. But he was cut short by the electrical discharge they'd all felt, and they all knew what it meant. Eiji had found the Xin Hop and it's 'Empress' to be... lacking.

Oh man, so now that meant she was practically in a sea of enemies. To be honest it was a little disappointing already, playing the third dog was always preferred to these 'enemy-of-my-enemy' alliances (at least in her book). Of course they could always turn on each other at any moment as well but it was too bothersome to think about. Right now she only needed to be thinking of one thing, cutting down the Xin Hop. Finally a chance to show off a little, yeah? The red-head stopped where she was and lowered her stance a little before suddenly ripping her sword from it's sheathe and right through one of the Xin Hop thugs nearby, slicing cleanly from their hip to shoulder.

There was no blood.

Her blade was closing in on 200F more than enough to burn the wounds shut as she cut them, more than a mere cauterization but pure destructive burns. As the top half of the body fell away she kicked the lowers out of her path flipping her blade to make another slash at the next dead-man-walking in front of her aiming to do the same except in the opposite direction, shoulder to hip.

A man did not commit to emptying his entire clip into a seemingly vacant garden without having heightened survival instincts. But none of the four men who were in the process of destroying the mirror pools, with hopes of catching however many assailants were out there, thought to look back until it was too late. By the time the first man’s head was adhering to gravity on its way down and away from the body it had once belonged to the second was recoiling from the bullet turning his brain into soup. However it wasn’t something the other two were going to miss.

The third man in line of Tatsuo’s assault managed to turn the automatic weapon on the single man as he pressed his attack. Unlike the patrol who had tried shooting Ben through the body of his companion, there was nothing between Tatsuo and the end of the Xin Hop barrel. Which had ironically been supplied by the Hong Yang Group.

The fourth gunmanwoman saw everything. She saw the old man dash towards her with lightning speed. She tried to bring the weapon up in time but no sooner had Zen reached her side, everything stopped responding. Somewhere in the darkened recesses of her own mind she acknowledged she was already dead. The only thing which seemed strange was that he would be casually walking away from her even as her last remaining companion finished emptying his clip at Tatsuo. Half a dozen bullets and then nothing but the click of empty chamber.

The only other men who were close enough to witness the betrayal were the two guards standing by the door. Well, one guard now as the other crumpled into perfectly grilled slices and the eight guards who had been stationed at the entrance to the Temple grounds guarding the limousines and turning away unwanted intruders. If it had not been for the fire fight they would have had no reason to even look back. There was a solid thirty yards between the temple entrance and the front gate, but the eight men had all the time in the world to set themselves either against the wall and the stone ornaments in the garden large enough to hide behind and open fire on the Temple stairs and the Wo Shing suits who were standing on them.

The remaining door guard who was falling back from Akaiken’s super heated blade was cut down by the rain of bullets from his own men. Chunks of stone and wood from the temple entrance splintering off as each bullet ripped through the bodies of those assembled there and into the structure itself.

Even as the fight raged on in the garden and Temple proper the gaggle of drivers stood at the entrance next to their vehicles, shifting nervously from foot to foot. They could hear the gun fire, occasionally the shouts of the dying. They wanted to leave, they should have by now. But they knew if they went anywhere without their employers their deaths would be guaranteed. At least they had a chance of surviving the night if they stuck around.

At least that was the thought going through Charlie Ma's head at the moment. He'd been the only Xin Hop to stick around. Just him, the Empress' driver. He glanced nervously at one of the other drivers, leaning against his car a few yards away from him. The man had a determined look on his face and a lit cigarette hung loosely from his lips. He focused firmly on the front entrance of the temple, waiting for his boss to return. He didn't seem unnerved by all the gunfire.

Charlie was nerves as fuck. He really didn't want to get shot again. The last time it had hurt so much and he'd been stuck in a hospital bed for weeks. He'd been miserable.

I thought getting shot was supposed to toughen you up...

He started to call out to the other driver, maybe he had a smoke Charlie could bumb. Maybe that would calm his nerves. Before he could get a word out though a gloved hand snaked out around his mouth and pulled him backwards. He felt a moment of weightlessness as he was tossed over his opponents shoulder, then the sharp impact as he collided with the ground and the taste of gravel in his mouth.

He tried to cry out for help, but the air had been knocked from his lungs. He lifted his head hoping to see the other driver. To his dismay the man was nowhere to be seen. Then Charlie's head was smashed into the ground and everything went black.

---

Higa Mikio

Miki sighed, hauling the unconscious driver over his shoulder and bringing him around to the back of the car. The nervous little Xin Hop may have been a lightweight but human bodies were cumbersome and awkward to carry. He slid the pistol he had drawn back into the holster he had hidden under his jacket. He'd expected to have to put down the other nearby driver, but the man didn't seem interested in a fight. He didn't question it.

It had taken him a while to work his way around the temple, avoiding guards and skirting the fighting. As per Ben's orders, he'd hung back, observed the conflict, and waited for an opportunity to slip past. While the Xin Hop and their assosciates were engaged by Scarlet and her team, Miki was to act as a reserve. One of Amuro's many life lessons danced through his thoughts.

Redundancy is good, redundancy is good...

He popped the trunk and lugged Xin Hop goon inside. After shutting the door he sorted himself out, straightening the costume Ben had required him to wear. It hadn't been this outfit specifically, but he had been told to wear something he wouldn't normally along with a mask. This costume was the only one Miki would consider. He'd been adamant about that. It galled him now that it fit so perfectly.

He slipped off the Black Domino Mask and slid into the spot the driver had stood a moment ago, leaning against the limousine. He glanced over and the other driver was back. The other man met his gaze and offered a nonchalant shrug, as if to say, "Not my fight."

"Alrighty then..."

Arthur followed the group as they got closer to the temple. He expected there to be more guards outside which only meant that there were going to be a lot more inside the temple. It was time to get serious and this was going to be a battle for his life. This mission apparently decided how the war would go and in who's favor it would lean towards. Everything was riding on this mission so they couldn't fail. One of the group went off in a different direction and Fiora had stayed behind most likely to deal with anyone who slipped through the cracks. Arthur steadied his hand on the hilt of his masamune at his side ready to strike at whoever they ran into who wasn't part of his group.

They went there own separate ways but he did tell Scarlett tat he would go to hell and back with her so that is who he is going to follow. He had to make sure to get her out alive. With the look of excitement for the battle ahead on his face Arthur sped forward with the remainder of the group towards the temple. "Lets get this started we move fast and silently." He mentioned to Scarlett as they went off to find a way into the temple. He was in no way a leader and didn't even know what was in this group but they had to hurry the gunfire in the courtyard would be heard by whoever was near so they had to move. They couldn't just sit around but it did seem they were moving at a good pace and hopefully they didn't run into too many meta-humans because that would make things harder.

(OOC; So I kind of understand what is going on, if somewhere in my post I've confused something please PM me.)

Fiora
Blood was not a new sight for Fiora. The crimson liquid that drenched her body all but seemed like another article of clothing to her. She wasn't out of breath, nor was she remorseful in anyway. This assassin knew what it was like to take a life and not let it effect her afterwards. Death was something she frequently sought, at least within the last decade and beyond. Her hand gripped Sairyou, and she dropped her abilities completely. Anyone that she had disappeared from would now see her, not that many of them were left alive.

Brit was quite useful to someone like her, though distractions weren't really needed for her. Though it did make it a lot easier to go from person to person, slicing their throats and killing them without struggle. That was definitely new for her. Also were the barrage of bullets that were now heading her way. It didn't click to see if Sairyou could transform into some metal shield that could protect her from the bullets, no, she didn't have time to even think of it.

Being shot once was nothing, twice she could've gotten out of it. But of course there had to be a firing squad pointing right at her. It wasn't like they couldn't see her, she hadn't hidden in their blind spots. They were shooting directly at her and it was obvious WHO their target was. Sairyou would feel her sever their bond as she dropped him. How'd she get here, why did she decide to help past getting them to this location, and who was to blame? Again she put herself into a situation that was unnecessary, and now she was finding death knocking on her doorsteps once more.

Each bullet that had hit was like a needle pushing deeper and deeper into her. Ten, no maybe fifteen had actually made contact with her. Why felt the need to shoot her so many damn times was beyond her, one shot to the head would've done the trick. Nope, they found it best for her to suffer. And suffer she did. The sounds of her knees hitting the ground and the thud of her body splashing into her and the men's sea of blood would all that would be heard after the bullet's stopped spraying. She wasn't like Silas, where his immortality stretched to literally invulnerability.

She'd not move, but there was still life there somewhere. A firing squad... at least she'd die knowing that's what it took to kill her.

Scarlett

Scarlett heard the barrage of gunshots within the wall, and turned her head back. She knew that Fiora had been in there, but hopefully she had gotten out. The immortal didn't want to fight, there wasn't a bone in her body that wanted to be involved with this. Circumstances or not, if something happened to Fiora, Scarlett wouldn't forgive herself.

Even though they were heading around the safety of the back wall, Scarlett still felt a sense of uneasiness. There was something that was going to come for them, something waiting for them beyond the wall. Her eyes needed to stay on the prize, which was the Empress. She needed to end her.

Kyoki
Never bite the hand that feeds you, is what she had always learned. The Xin Hop didn't feed her, so biting this bitches head off wasn't going to cut her food portions in half. When things got sour, and Tatsuo pointed at her to come with him she was ready to follow. However it was shortly lived as the men that were guarding over the Empress unloaded their weapons on them. Funny how that happens, she is called to follow then something gets in her way. To others it may seem like a normal thing, hey these guys are trying to protect them Empress so lets shoot them. To Kyoki, it was insulting.

The sounds of a gun firing in a room such as this was that of pure bliss for Kyoki. The louder the sound the stronger she was, and so even if bullets headed her way she watched as the lights that echoed off of them filled the room. Even if she didn't have super sight, she could see the bullets and their trajectory. No way she could dodge them completely but she'd do her best. Her body lunged off to the side, using any means to move from the spray of bullets that headed in her direction (All the dodging in this post). Each bullet that past her grazing her clothes and barely penetrating her skin and drawing miniscule amounts of blood. A price to pay for working for the Wo Shing.

When she was clear of the spray she used the echoing sounds in the room to gather in her hand were the lights of the gun shots. They would hurt if they hit, and once she gathered enough energy she stood and threw it off towards the men with their guns. If it hit, even just one of them, the ball would explode and-- well, a concussive blast would occur. Even if it hit, the wall behind them about ten feet away would cause the ball to explode, sending a shock wave back at them. Even at the Empress distance, she'd feel the hit-back.

From the guard’s point of view the wall of illusion had not changed from the picturesque scene of the courtyard. Every shot they fired disappeared into the veil, and nothing changed to their viewpoint. While on the other side, it was a whole other story. Plants and debris scattered across the garden as bullets ripped through anything and everything.

“Fucking sheeple !!!” It was infuriating to be shot by such fodder. The cover he found would suffice as he felt the burning sensation along his left shoulder and hip. Naturally his hand pressed against his hip as he glanced back to ‘Princess’

Fiora may have dropped her abilities but that did not stop Brit’s illusion from continuing throughout the gardens, she could have been wearing nothing and still gathered no attention. He afforded her the capabilities of his Illusion, its potential, and she could not shake it away so easily.
The firing squad only stopped the spray of bullets the moment they realised they were under attack from behind.

As Brit’s teeth clenched he slowly began to chuckle... These wounds were nowhere near as bad as the Police Girl’s shot to his leg. ‘Pussys.’ Was his only thoughts as he walked over to Fiora.

His eyes ran along the multiple bullet wounds before giving in to an audible groan, something about getting up close and personal that maximised the spray of bullets. Stepping around her much like a predator stalking its prey Brit lent down to pick up Sairyou, the weapon seemed easy enough to carry as he tied the sheathed Katana to his belt. The next step was lifting her weight, luckily she was not a big girl as Brit felt the desire to get the hell out of there. "Hold on Princess... Too much red cordial has that effect on me too." People were dying, that was all that mattered.

Within a few moments Brit had cleared the gardens through the gate and down to the forest. His Illusion of the untouched gardens hindered everyone’s view of their getaway. It was only until Brit reached the forest that his Illusion had dissipated, the guards would have been able to see the destruction they caused, and the piles of corpses that remained of their fallen members. As he dropped to his knee he felt the weight of her body shift onto the cold white snow, the splatters of blood had been numerous as he could not fathom which place to start. His gauntleted hand pressed against her chest, her lifeblood still poured through his fingers as he placed Sairyou in her hand, his free hand easily shifted to another bleeding wound as his eyes ran over multiple more that needed pressure. 'Fuck!'

"I... I can not stop the bleeding..." Maybe it was because of the Police Girl, but Brit's tone eased into concern as he watched Fiora bleeding into the snow. His head dipped down slightly as he seethed without restraint.

Ben Tai

Things were going better than anticipated. As Ben made his way around the temple, he was over the wall and he saw the little civil war that ensured. Was it planned by Scarlett? The Rat of the Tai Yeung may be cowardly, but he was ingenious when it came to avoiding direct conflict, and she was his protégé. With all of the action happening in the front, he also saw some of the armed men choosing to reinforce the Temple instead… He smirked.

The Empress was not going to live, at least, Ben did not think so. By now, his protégé would be waiting and cover the Empress’ escape route. Should she make it that far… then he will deliver her to him to a destination that will not be known by Scarlett and the others. Although… Ben would rather kill her in the confines of the temple, and keep his selfish desire for himself.

“So this was not simply luck, or the combine might of our pride and sloth. Empress, survive for your head will make a great wedding gift to my sweet beloved.” He thought to himself, as he decided to go upward, and up he flew after reaching the side, his dark cloak concealing him in the night’s sweet embrace.

The Xin Hops were openly disrespectful, and overly aggressive. They used brute force to get what they desired; they were a horde of barbarians going up an already existing empire. Their numbers multiplied greatly, much faster than initially anticipated. They even expected to have the lesser triads to slow them down, but rather they only boosted their forces.

On the temple there was but a lone man, and he positioned himself to be above him, and behind him. He swooped down and he swung his scythe downward, ready to plunge the blade at the man’s back.

Sairyou

There was nothing that could be done, nor did he want to. He was enjoying the battle too much, and he simply fed her bloodlust further, and further, indicating where they were, and pulsing with happiness as she plunged him into the soft flesh of those unwanted humans. Her death seemed inevitable, and he whispered slowly in her ear.

“Fiora, my beloved… hide behind my blade”
He’d ask as he turned ito a mighty greatsword to try and block the bulltets, but it was in vain, too many bullets pierced her flesh, and her red nectar came flowing out. He could feel her presence diminishing.

“No.. Fiora, fight. Don’t let them end our purpose” He pleaded her to get back in the fight, but he recognised that it would be in vain, her body was too weakened.

Once more… Sairyou would find himself alone… Until the crazy man picked him up. He kept quiet as he tried to revive the dying woman. Brit could hear the pulsating weapon cry.

A child?

“Nee-san…” He whined as Brit could distinctly hear the voice of a crying young boy
“They killed Nee-san *sniff* I can’t.. continue without you, Nee-san” His voice echoed in Brit’s mind, he did not make it so Fiora could hear it, or anyone else. Simply Brit could hear him.

“Onii-san… please… Nee-san…. Help me avenge her. Make those bad men pay for taking my nee-san away from me!” He whined and cried, the weapon shifting into a long weapon, a spear? No… there was a curved blade at the end, a mighty Nagitana that matched the motif of the samurai sword he had, with the word “Vengeance” written in the old style.

[[Lemme know if I messed up here. I'm reading Faith's post as the second guy Akai attacked she also got, but then he was also shot up by his folks. If this is incorrect send me a pm or skype me or something.]]

Shit!

Shit-shit-shit!

Akaiken reached forward and grabbed the yet-standing corpse of her most recent kill using it as something as a shield as she ran for cover though flesh is not the best defense against bullets and by the time she reached a solid cover of pillar and tree she'd already been hit. Luckily there was only one that mattered, her left shoulder. Hah, how fucked up was that? It's only after she can't really afford to die that the opportunity so perfectly presents itself...

Akaiken took off the jacket of her suit checking the damage while she was behind a decent cover of trees and pillars though they were still firing... bastards.

She couldn't tell if the bullet was still lodged in her shoulder, it hurt like fuck but nothing she couldn't handle. The problem was that this arm was pretty much useless, and if she wanted to regain full mobility of it later, moving it around now would have to stop. She took off her tie using it as an impromptu bandage tying it around the wound. She then put her jacket only partway on, instead tying the loose sleeves together one going around her back and over her shoulder in a way to make something of an improvised sling. Hopefully it would hold well enough.

In the meantime those bastards were using ranged weapons... she supposed that's why she carried that WSS 9mm these days. The red-head grit her teeth and sneered as she turned slightly around the edge to see what she could through the brush. Muzzles flashing... That's all she needed. She quickly turned and fired off a few shots, at least one of which hitting the chest of a man with a flashing muzzle. She always was good at these games. Though after firing she turned back behind the pillar waiting for the wave of return-shots to come and go.

There was a sudden thud after Zen noted the dispersal of the half-dozen-plus gunmen beyond the stairs moving to take up firing positions. This thud was the monk hurling himself against the wall and kicking off it, launching himself first out of sight, then off the floor and up to perch in the corner of the room while bullets began to sing their way through the corridor. He had seen the soldiers to be more than competent shots- which greatly reduced the chance of a lucky round punching through the wall against with he's perched. He holds position, waiting for someone to try to pass through the hallway. To any remaining Wo Shing members came a sudden, sharp order.

"MOVE! You have your target and it is NOT here! Leave the gateway to me and pursue our objective!" Nothing to give away the actual aim of the group- it merely revealed they had one, and that was hardly news after they had turned on their hosts.

It was entirely possible that the man sitting in the Empress’ own seat was as arrogant as she was. Maybe even more so. She did not even wait for him to finish before she started moving away from him towards the rear entrance. The last of his inflated speech falling on nothing but her guards stationed around the room. She had no words for Eiji, nothing at all to say to him or about how positively fantastic he thought he was and the ego stroking session he wanted to have. There was only so much room available for egos in that room and she had already soaked up every spare bit of space. If his men wanted to throw themselves against whoever was foolish enough to attack the temple. Then so be it.

Xifeng had a greater understanding of what it meant to waste her human resources better than most men who had ever known her level of power and influence. All she heard out of the pretender’s mouth was blar blar and some more blar.

Hong Yang ~ Wo Shing... it was all meaningless drivel to her. The only name she cared about was Tai Yeung. He could have been the Queen of England for all she cared. At least the distance she managed to put between them and the sound of her own footfalls and those of her two bodyguards drowned him out. At the rear of the temple the building opened up into a balcony which overlooked the river. It was the only part of the Temple which was not walled in by the nine foot stone fence surrounding the mirror pools. She could hear the gunshots being fired towards the front of the Temple and see the four men stationed near along the back of the temple shifting nervously. Their eyes seemed to drift between the surroundings and their radios attached to their cold weather outfits.

“Tell Yi it is time we departed.” She snapped at the first man fiddling with the radio. It was time for her to leave.

Within the Temple Teri had only just arrived when Xifeng departed, and for the first time she did not fall into step with the Empress, instead her eyes lingered on Eiji. The reptilian eyes at first widening and then narrowing slightly as she regarded both him and his claim. The Wo Shing Society obviously meant something to her, and in a strange turn of events she addressed Eiji directly. “Is there anything I could do to be of service to you or the Wo Shing Society, Ishida Eiji?” The words were spoken with the upmost respect despite her mistress’ sudden departure and seemed to stretch beyond her station as Xifeng’s personal assistant.

Yi heard the crackled request from the guard to meet the Empress at the rear of the Temple a split second before the Grimm Reaper descended on his position on the rooftop. If he had not been turning around at the sound of gunfire from the limousines he quite possibly would have missed the wicked scythe aimed to cleave him in two.

A rather unfortunate business considering he was very attached to both sides of his body being where they were. He managed to teleport at the last possible second, the blade catching his clothing in the transition. Close... too close! He reappeared a fraction of a second later directly behind the flying man, his own pair of knives unsheathed in his grip as he pressed his advantage. The blades slashing into the layers of material in hopes of connecting with the man beneath them.

The Empress would have been waiting for him to appear the second the guard demanded his presence, she was just going to have to wait. Yi did not doubt for one second that his attacker was a man, regardless of how elaborate his costume was. And like all men, he was going to make him bleed for what he very nearly accomplished.
