Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

Tenshi Island ~ Kagami-Ji ‘The Mirror Temple’

The Mirror Temple situated on Tenshi Island lay in its usually state of peace and harmony. The surrounding forest and the temple grounds were covered in two inches of snow. The numerous reflective pools were frozen over, adding to the serenity of the building. Beyond the pollution of the city lights there would be no moon rising in the sky that night. What light there had been was few and far between. Lanterns adorned and lit much of the temple itself and the immediate gardens.

What did stand out were the abundance of heavily armed men patrolling the perimeter of temple grounds. What few genuine temple goes had been ushered from the building hours early so it could be transformed into the staging ground for the Xin Hop meeting. The Empress, Qiao Xifeng had gone to some pains to bring her potential backers to this place under the cover of a new year celebration. Paradise Park had a fireworks display planned for the evening that promised to light up the sky at the appointed hour. Not that Xifeng could see it.

The limousine rolled to a stop at the front of the temple, when the door opened a single unimpressive figure stepped out. She was average height, though on the thin side. Her dead, lifeless red eyes fell on the men around her who seemed to visibly shrink from her. Her dress was business formal, her short hair framing around her face. As she stepped towards the temple of pair of well built bodyguards fell into stride behind her. Even from a distance it was obvious the size and potential strength of her personal guards was attributed to far more than performance enhancers.

“See that my guest are shown in the moment they arrive.”

Her tone was completely flat, but there was something of a smile on her features. Tonight was going to be something spectacular. One of the defining moments in the Triad war, if there was even going to be a war. After tonight, Jin Tsui and his Tai Yeung mongrels would roll over and sit or she would give them a new meaning of play dead.

Teri seemed to shift her weight from one foot to the other waiting for the Empress to respond. The last thing the personal assistant wanted was for the whole situation to become unpleasant. And things around Xifeng had a habit of turning unpleasant in record speed. At the sight of the smile which began to form on the Empress’ face, Teri’s own relief was obvious. She did not even know their names, but the leader of the Hong Yang Group had a way about him that the Empress seemed to respond to favourably.

No one moved to stop him, not even the two meat shields ~ who probably should have if they both weren’t as dense as dog shit. The other dozen Xin Hop men who lined the walls of the room were holding their breath as much as Teri had been. None of them envied her being so close to the psychopath.

If Eiji wanted to kiss her hand, she wasn’t going to snatch it away. Although, she much preferred the abject humiliation of people prostrating themselves on the ground.

“You took your time.” The Empress cooed at Eiji’s polite introduction, scolding and forgiving in the same breath. “I hope you intend on making it up to me.” The image of his happy little camp followers did not impress her, but she at least had a level of civility for the man in front of her.

Honestly though, he could have left his pets outside.

“You and I have business to discuss.” She stated in a flat tone, pointing out the bleeding obvious reason he was there. “I would prefer it if we could get on with it.”

In the gardens there were two types of Guards. The first who stood still freezing their feet off in the snow, and the second who were constantly patrolling. Fiora and Nemetis managed to single out the gate guards who were stationary. Their attention was already divided between the limousines which were still lined along the front of the temple and the otherwise empty forest. The sky a few miles away at the amusement park was alight with the constant explosion of fireworks, but nothing bright enough to give the shadow pause.

The look on the first man’s face was echoed on the second guard a fraction of a second later as the pair of assassins cut them down before any alarm could be raised. But the assassins only had a couple seconds before the next patrol rounded the far end of the wall which sectioned off the temple gardens heading in their direction.

The light was intermittent and broken by the fireworks, but half a dozen steps would have brought the patrol around the plants which lined the wall, into visual range of the slain sentries and the assassins. Unlike their former half frozen companions, both of the men were focused and ready for anything. They needed to be. The Empress’ other favourite pet was calling the shots tonight. The Xin Hop men had as little love for the short range teleporter as they did for Xifeng herself. But it was either this, or end up as the next public examples of failure she chose to make.

Eiji
"I did."

Was Eiji's only reply. It was interesting how a simple, unexpected action would easily throw people off-balance and make them change their mindset; so much that asking his name had escaped her and her men.

Now she was trying to get back in control, trying to teach them who was boss. The same old game of pride even some of the upper Wo Shing were fond of playing -Dao came to mind. Only Eiji's only pride was in battle, and only when he had a worthy opponent. And she was not it. Perhaps she saw the kiss as an apology? Let her believe it and get back to their meeting. She seemed in a hurry to get on with business and that was something of a relief. He hated wasting time in unnecessary small talk.

"And I was just about to suggest we did. Now I do hope you have a more private chamber where the two of us can talk. I will leave my men out here, but I do not object to you bringing however many personnel you deem necessary in order to ensure your safety. I'm sure you're smart enough not to trust me."

He had half-turned away from her at this point, looking around casually and expecting to see a door or corridor leading to where the actual meeting with the head of the Xin Hop would take place.

"And if you so feel I should make it up to you..."

He turned to look at her, unsmiling. Yet with an air of superiority about him.

"Should we come to an agreement tonight, you will feel more than compensated for."

He could have talked her down, but the Chinese, and especially their women, were a pride folk far too easy to give in to stupidity if their egos were hurt, more so if they were shown up in front of others, and especially their own servants. He was doing her a great favor by remaining silent and helping her save face.

He extended his arm.

"Shall we?"

=====

Tatsuo knew that the time was near. Had he not been standing right next to Zen, he knew the dark beings inside him would be gnawing at him already, demanding to be freed from the prison of his skin. That was usually not a problem and his composure wouldn't suffer; he was rather used to it after a lifetime of bearing the curse.

But it sure was nice to feel peaceful at a time like this, when everything seemed to hang from a thread. Why? Well, they were here at this little bitch's request, as far as he understood it, to negotiate whether or not they would be backing her in the upcoming conflict with their rival gang. It seemed like child's play, but Eiji had his reasons to accept meeting her here. As soon as they arrive, she acts as if they needed to apologize. As if it was them who needed her.

Funny.

Now Eiji was a patient man when it served his purposes, but otherwise he had no time this sort of drama. So he was really wondering if and when he would grow tired of it. If that was the case they would have to go ahead and take all these people out, because as far as he understood it, nothing was yet set in stone, and they all might as easily leave this place in peace and with a new ally, or they could well have to fight their way out should this girl managed to piss Eiji a little too much.

One thing was clear however: until told otherwise, the Hong Yang group was to act as their allies in all senses and for all purposes. How long that would last, only time would tell.

Sairyou

« Oh Fiora, you horrible tease! »
Sairyou scolded playfully, clearly filled with joy at the prospect of being used, as he should be. He shifted quickly to the blade she desired. It was amazingly quick, no light show, no shadows, a simple blink and he was gone nad Fiora had a brand new blade in her hand.

“Here I was worried we wouldn’t see any battle. How cruel of you not to correct me… I should punish you” He said with a hearty chuckle as his presence was felt throughout her body, emanating from the hilt, a warm and soothing energy, as if he was pressing against her soul and gently hugging it.

He was also an extra pair of eyes for Fiora. He could see everything she could see, and when they met their first foe… The anticipation was great, and before a scream could be uttered, it was over. Sairyou was covered in the victim’s blood, and he reveled in it, as the body fell to the ground like a ragdoll.

Humans experienced happiness through several means: relationships, accomplishments, entertainment and so on and so forth, but everything was condensed into a single moment of pure ecstasy. He wasn’t satisfied… He wanted more. A lustful whisper came to Fiora’s ear.

“Bravo, your technique is superb. So efficient, they probably missed it. We have to do it more.”
She could hear the wide grin he had. The blood that covered him, suddenly went splat on the ground, as he quick shifted back, and let the blood fall, clean and sparkly once more.

“Oh look, more playthings” Sairyou warned as guards came to round the corner, and like always. His voice could be only be heard by Fiora.

Ben Tai

He followed the duo, closely. His back was to the ground, and he was looking up at their beautiful and firm mounds as they moved forward. Two for the price of one, they were the only two gals of the entire group, but damn…. The hot factor really made up for the lack of quantity. Though they filled his vision, he was sure he could squeeze in a pair or two in there.

They arrived to the first guards, and Nemetis and Fiora quickly got rid of them. There was nothing like adding deadliness unto a hot body and if you added a strong powerful personality you had someone that was going straight for Ben’s heart. His sweet beloved filled the trifecta perfectly, and as much as he enjoyed watching those jiggly parts jiggle as they get covered in blood; he was anxious to dirty his weapons too.

Ben gave them a light golf clap, acknowledging their wondrous kill though his attention was taken away, not by bunny suit Scarlett, no… Although they were hidden by the forest, the other two weren’t, and guards were turning the corner. Ben acted quickly, as he readied his scythe and glided within the forest, as he approached the guards as fast as he could wait to get in line before striking. He noted the lights as they went on and off.

As soon as the light vanished he set his plan in motion. He flew upward the tree to rustle, as he left the scythe there in plain sight. He’d take his daggers, and grasp them tightly as he would swoop down on them, as they are distracted by the sight of the scythe in the tree, his goal to quickly slash both of their throats.

It was time to start he didn't know how many there were going to be but the group was big enough. If there were any more they wouldn't be able to sneak around like they originally had planned. The bigger the group the harder it would be to get in and out safely when they were done. The order was given to eliminate the guard but he wasn't chosen. He watched as the two seemed to disappear and take the guards out silently and quickly. Arthur didn't know what the others abilities are so whoever Scarlett chose for each part of this mission would have to do since she would know who she chose more than anything. He would get his chance probably when they got closer to the goal. Arthur was by no means stealthy his fire would give him away considering he couldn't exactly control it. Which made it apparent when he was training with Scarlett weeks ago. He wouldn't be hindered this time and use his abilities to help them make it out of here. Since he didn't have his armor he would have to pick his fights but he would be able to move as fast as he could in battle. When the group started to move Arthur would be right behind them making sure nobody got the jump on them.

(Yay for split posting, remember that Star is the marker for the posting round guys. <3
I have a lot of NPCs to keep track of so I'll bring them in as their initiative comes up ~ which is code for when they have a reason to be involved.
If anyone gets lost of confused, let me know. ^_^)

The two patrol guards trained their guns instantly towards the tree Ben had used to divert their attention. But the biggest thing out there would have been a wild cat. Before Ben had the chance to execute his attack the guards had stepped too far apart. The first guard falling instantly to the dagger of Ben Tai, but the second had all the time in the world to point his gun at the masked and cloaked assailant and pulled the trigger on the automatic weapon from point blank range. There was no way in the world every shot fired would have missed their mark.

It took a second to distinguish the gunfire from the fireworks from the other side of the Temple grounds, but Yi narrowed his eyes in the direction of the far gate. “Maintain your patrols.” The Chinese man ordered to the Xin Hop men before he vanished. He reappeared a heartbeat later 50 yards away in the central gardens his eyes narrowing on the far gate to the Gardens where the shots had been fired from. Short range teleportation may have seemed like a limited gift, but he could take at least two other people with him. He vanished a second time with intentions of coming up on the wall near the gate. Far enough away not to alert whatever or whoever may have been out there.

Fiora & Scarlett

Fiora had taken the guard out with ease, and glancing over at Nemetis it was obvious that he had a similar time. Her lip curled up at the corner, it was no wonder Scarlett had asked him to come along. Without her there, they'd need some form of assassin, one that could slip in and out without being seen. The immortal gave him a nod and turned her attention back to the group. She noticed Ben, the odd one, moving away from them. There could only be a single reason for that, more guards. Fiora wasn't going to wait for confirmation that she may or may not be needed and moved off in the direction of Ben...

Scarlett narrowed her eyes at Ben as he went to handle the oncoming guards. She moved quickly to the wall of the gate and pressed her back against it. The shadows that casted over it would give her a bit of a cameo while Ben took care of the guards. Fiora had slipped past her at about that moment, heading over to assist if assistance was needed.

The immortal rested the tip of the blade down on the ground, letting it drag against the dirt. "Let's shift, shall we?" She said with a grin across her face. He'd begin to see the image of a weapon, one that she'd shot a few times but not without assistance of a scope. The crossbrow that would form into her hands would soon be aimed down sight.

When everything happened, it happened quickly. Ben was easily able to take one of them out, but the other had slipped away just enough to send the automatic weapon into a frenzy. They were at a close range, and there wasn't anything that Fiora could do to save Ben from being hit if he didn't move. Her finger released the bolt and shot it straight at the guard. Unfortunately she's not the best shot, but it still would land. Collarbone or not, it would be a painful moment for the guard to bare. Stopping the spraying of bullets and hopefully giving Ben enough time to finish the job.

Scarlett snarled and looked at the group. "Fireworks or not, I doubt they're idiots. They'll have heard that. Get ready." She said, pushing herself off the wall and turning towards the entrance. The limos that lined the garden had her questioning if this was going to be a bigger fight then she had imagined. Innocent casualties were just the way war was sometimes, but was she ready to see that today? She hoped that the Empress just loved her limos...

Scarlett didn't look up to see the man that would inevitably be looking down at them by now, Fiora however did glance up, though at that point it was too late to say or do anything about his presence.

Kyoki

Kyoki stood by the door and ignored any conversations that were going on around her.

NEMETIS

Nemetis remained poised and ready to react to anything that was about to barge through the gate, the others seemed to have things under control as he prepped his halberd ready to strike down the first enemy that came through the gate.

BRITICUS

Ever wondered why rats fled from a sinking ship? No, good neither did Brit.

As his argument fell on deaf ears, a part of him wanted to simply stand and watch the series of unfortunate events unfold... He glanced down to the illusion that still surrounded his form, Captain America, nothing more than a childhood ideal... ‘Doesn’t mean anything to me... Why should I care, I’m just the one that promised to kill her if things went south. And to kill Mulan over in that temple.’ His eyes ran along Ben Tai’s scythe as the two man patrol rounded the corner...

What he did not expect was the sound of automatic gunfire that pieced through the night air...

“Now it’s a party.”
This was finally enough to motivate himself into helping the party, maybe even save someone from getting hurt, not that he cared. Brit dissolved into his own illusion as he disappeared from sight. One patrol member remained as Brit dashed up to him, at the corner of his eye he saw a crossbow bolt which almost clipped him in the side of the head as it headed towards and likely into the enemy. He would have naturally turned to backhand whoever was stupid enough to throw bolts in the middle of a swordfight, but the timing was off and he was still invisible. His Katana was sheathed prepped and ready to deliver a killing blow. He knew what he was doing, he’s seen Kenshin.

If fate had anything to do with it the swift strike of Brit’s blade would have ran through the guard’s neck, voiding him of breath and the ability to give further warning or sing the blues on karaoke night.

Dot... Dot... Dot...

Ben Tai is the Best Guy

When did he realize his folly? Was it when he went flying downward towards the men and he saw them walk apart? Was it when the blades were planted on the man’s neck as he watched with great surprise as his co-worker turned to face the horrid hacking sound that emanated from the now dying man?

He had to change his plan at the last moment, deciding instead to use both weapons on a single entity. He held on firmly, as he twisted the knives and made his latest victim face the other guard, the mask resting on the victim’s shoulder.

Time slowed down as Ben felt the adrenaline take over his body. He took cover behind his first victim as the bullets came flying his way. He propped himself up, raising his legs, and resting them on his back. He cowered his head, but held the mask to be above the left shoulder, as his head cowered underneath the right. His meat shield was having the worst night, stabbed in the neck, and shot relentless by his colleague as he tried to get the man behind him.

He was going to run out of ammo, and when that will happen, Ben will discard the meat shield, take out a knife from its neck, and fly straight for the kill.

Sairboo~

« For you? Always, » Sairyou responded as the weapon was covered in a dark shadow before melding itself into a finely crafted crossbow. Not a generic and bland crossbow, no, that wouldn’t be sufficient. Her name was written in full on it, and it matched her colors, a beautiful silver weapon.

The shift had matched Fiora’s movement, and the timing was precise. All she needed to do was to make a motion; thinking up a weapon was optional as Sairyou had free will and the ability to choose.

She aimed quickly, and Sairyou shifted its sight slightly to increase the accuracy.

“Hehe… if we make enough noise, we could lure them all here…” Sairyou said, as it would allow both Fiora and he to participate, while remaining outside the confines of the temples. Loopholes, you had to love them.

Xifeng listened to Eiji’s little speech, so pretty. But he had one thing very wrong. He was late, nothing was going to compensation for that. The Empress felt that she was entitled to Chinatown and her revenge on the Council of Tai Yeung fools. For that reason alone she endured his palliating and showmanship. But to business...

“I had intended on meeting here in the main hall, until you brought all of your personnel with you.” Qiao’s flat unimpressed tone responded. “If they are of absolutely no importance, request they leave.” He seemed confident towards his own personal safety, and the Empress was surrounded by the exact number of bodyguards and guns that she wanted to be. Not to be completely ungracious her hand indicated to the seat beside her.

She already knew how this meeting was going to go. He was going to ask her why she deserved to be in control of Chinatown. Her response was going to be so delicious... Why did she deserve it? Because she had earned it, and when the Tai Yeung fools had tried to deny her, she took it. In the distance the fireworks were beginning to fade, only to be replaced by gunfire. Her sightless eyes fell on Eiji accusingly, but she didn’t detect any triumphant master stroke to suggest anything that was happening beyond the temple was his doing. “See to it!” She snapped to Teri and the personal assistant made her way back to the front entrance with just enough haste.

‘You are needed here, Slave. Now!’ As much as she wanted Wraith to destroy the Council. A twisted kind of punishment for his recent disobedience, killing the Tai Yeung was a trivial thing if she was not alive to enjoy it.

The wall surrounding the temple was just that, a wall. It was not intended for people to walk on. But it was constructed a lifetime ago and there was a certain thickness to it. None of that stopped Yi from teleporting to the top of the wall and away again the moment his eyes landed on Fiora and Ben turning the last of the patrol into a pin cushion. He did not stay for the man’s imminent death, instead he teleported away again into the thick of the Xin Hop guards. Their orders were to hold the Temple secure and to eradicate the vermin who were trying to get in.

The crossbow bolt ripping through the patrol guard's shoulder was enough to silence the gunfire, his companion’s lifeless body had been destroyed by the automatic weapon. In his haste to dispatch Ben he had not realised the man was one of many. Then again being cut down by an invisible assailant a heartbeat before the masked reaper could claim his life would have taken anyone by surprise. The snow beneath their feet was already stained red, but it was a thirsty substance and had no problem at all soaking it all in.

Half a dozen armed Xin Hop guards started moving towards the side entrance to the Garden, they weapons ready to train on anything which moved. “We have uninvited guests.” Yi informed Teri before she even had a chance to ask what was happening. No, he had no idea who they were. The only ones he had seen in that split second were Fiora and the Grimm reaper. Unfortunately they did not proclaim who they were and what their objective was. But Teri was a cleaver girl, she knew how to word that to Xifeng. Be damned if Yi was going to be the one to tell the Empress.

Eiji
“If they are of absolutely no importance, request they leave.”

That almost brought a smirk to the man's face, just from the sheer ridiculousness of it. She took him and his people for fools. She was too self-absorbed, too poisoned by her own ego to even think straight before speaking. Eiji was not offended though, he really couldn't be, for all he knew, but her naivety and lack of sheer common sense was almost insulting.

He had followed the work of the Xin Hop for months. He had watched closely. They seemed like the right people to back up, not because they were exactly good at what they did, but because they had the great numbers needed to ensure a conflict of such magnitude that it would eventually bring both their and the Tai Yeung's existences to an end. However few survived would crawl back to their holes and either be killed or absorbed by the other groups. The triads would lose power and their grasp on the city and would be easier to disband altogether later on. And so, he had contacted the self-proclaimed 'Empress' of the Xin Hop through a mediator, and had offered her help. From then on her men were provided with guns, ammo, explosives, information and other less-conventional services.

All under the name of the Hong Yang Group.

When she asked for a meeting he knew the time was near. Whichever side won this war did not matter to him, for they would both have to disappear eventually; and he knew he had to play a bigger role from now on if he wanted to speed up the process. That was the reason why he had accepted the invitation, but he was starting to feel quite disappointed.

She reminded him of a little girl, playing princess with her dolls, not really knowing what a princess was. She couldn't hold her tongue at his intentional late arrival, which meant she was controlled by her emotions, not the other way around. She turned a peaceful temple into an armed fortress, which of course would never raise any suspicion from the police force that was following her and every other known gang's every move. Then she failed to provide a secure location for their meeting. They might as well share a bench at the park!

As she motioned him to sit beside her, Eiji suddenly turned his back to her and started walking towards the entrance where his men where, seeming to ignore her completely. Something more important had caught his attention.

There were intruders right outside her gate. How did they find her? How did they know about this meeting? Was there a snitch among her ranks? They were jumping the fence and killing her men right now and she did have the slightest id--

The sound of gunfire.

Eiji turned to look at her with a blank expression on his face. She was 'looking' intently at him, as if questioning his part in this and he didn't blame her. His part in this was still undecided after all.

“See to it!”

Eiji merely nodded at Tatsuo, and the man instantly exited the hall, followed by the rest. They had their orders: to act supportive of the Xin Hop until told otherwise; and if that meant severing some heads so be it.

"So."

Eiji slowly turned to look at the blind girl. He no longer regarded her as an apt leader but that was extremely unimportant right now. His mind rushed as he sensed the battle ensuing outside and prepared his strategy. At the same time he was still trying to decide whether the Xin Hop were still worth his time. This sudden security breach was a major embarrassment for the Empress, one she should make up for. But he was certain by now that she wouldn't consider it so, and the idea of trying to make it up to him would never cross her mind... so he didn't waste his time even mentioning the subject.

The man paced back to her chair, still not taking her invitation to sit down, standing before her instead.

"It seems like I know everything there is to know about you; all that matters anyway. And yet you do not even know who I am. That is not the proper way to start a potential partnership."

Eiji's tone was relaxed and casual, as if he didn't have a worry in the world. As if whatever that was happening outside did not concern him.

"My name is Ishida Eiji, and the Hong Yang Group is a farce."

==========

At the very sound of gunfire Tatsuo's hand instinctively clenched the hilt of his sword, when it already rested. By then Eiji was already standing before him and his nod only confirmed his orders.

He moved swiftly and effortlessly, not unsheathing his blade just yet. The rest would follow and knew well what to do, but he'd learned as a leader that reassuring words were a powerful thing in battle.

"We stand by the Xin Hop. Don't hold back."

Now friendly and easy-going Tatsuo was gone. This was serious business and it was time to reveal his true self. These intruders, whoever they were, would be eliminated.
