| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? Success. In the past weeks, the Tai Yeung had launched a successful campaign against the Xin Hop. Their supply routes were cut and their abilities restricted to the few areas in Chinatown that dared to back them. But still, they were very strong. One of the greatest concerns with Jin was not whether or not the Tai Yeung would come out on top--everyone knew that they were the leading favorites--but the aftermath. What would happen after this all ended? Would the Tai Yeung be reduced to a crippled beast, easily toppled by the Red Dogs or even the Lai Gang? The conflict with the Xin Hop was already reaching beyond expectations. It was dragging out. With the limited supplies that Jin could retrieve through Koyuki Tachibana (his secret endorser) as well as the few moments of assistance from those cops, there was still much work to be done. The Tai Yeung council were livid. Jin, Silk, and Tao were the main backers of the chairman, with the majority of the rest opposed or too scared to speak out against the Xin Hop. The resources at Jin's disposal were very limited, so with each failed attempt, it set their campaign back drastically. The Tai Yeung needed another boost to get an upper hand in the conflict... "What do you think you're doing!?" A livid Uncle Rat blared from Jin's phone. "I assure you, Uncle, that we are merely acting in retaliation. We are preserving the Tai Yeung way just as--" "Cut the crap, boy. You're breaking rules here. You're breaking tradition. Do Grandfather Tsao and Bao know that you're going against their wishes?!" Silence. Jin paced around the room with his phone in one hand and a lit cigarette in another. "What you're doing is wrong, boy. This is not the way we do things in the Tai Yeung Group. You are abusing your power! Who do you think you are? These are lives and livelihoods at stake! And you're just going to throw them away for a measly fight with some mainland pricks who want to act tough? Open your eyes!" "If we let them take from us, everyone else will see it. The Red Dogs, The Sonny Boys, The Lai Gang. If they see these outsiders come in and take what they want from us, then they'll do the same as well. Where is your pride? Where is your honor? Our organization will be seen as weak and spineless if we let the Xin Hop walk all over us." "We are not in a time of war, Tsui. We fight our wars with our wallets and our profits. We're not those punk children who squabble over every little thing." "Then what are we to do to those who've died? Those who we've killed? They've--" "Don't be delusional. We've lost nothing. A few nobodies here and there is not what we need to go to war for." "But there's much more on the line, Uncle." "Enough! There will be a banquet tonight and I will make sure that the council knows of your underhanded ways, Chairman. I'd look into finding office elsewhere when the new year arrives." The call ended abruptly, with Jin staring at the ashes that had burnt on the tip of his cigarette. He placed his phone slowly into his pocket and stood against the wood blinds of his wall windows. "What a day." He followed with a sigh. Edited by MaKeNsHiZeRo, Dec 30 2013, 10:47 PM.

"Casualties..." It was obvious where the woman was going with this. But why? He repeated the same message that Aureal relayed over and over again in his mind. His eyes remained locked on hers, hypnotized by both her beauty and her presence--except that her presence did not make Jin feel lustful at all. Instead, it struck a sense of fear and caution within the Chairman. This was vital information, and yet it was being so easily handed over to Jin? Was it a trap? No, it wasn't. It couldn't be. A trap would require much more groundwork in order to fool Jin. So what did she want? To further their relations? This was a massive bone to toss to the Tai Yeung. With it, they would ensure a crushing blow to the Xin Hop menace terrorizing the borders of Chinatown. With this information, they could essentially wipe out the backbone of the Xin Hop, ensuring a much quicker victory for the Tai Yeung. How could a man pass that up? The others. This was a risky call, Jin realized. Casualties... casualties... the deaths of those within the Tai Yeung ranks. He reached over for the cup of tea, sipped on it once more. "This war is costly and long-drawn. Anything to bring this menace to an end to the Tai Yeung is worth its weight in gold and blood." His words were cold. So cold that it even cut him hearing it play back into his ears. "If you support our group in this matter, then we will gladly support you in whatever way we can in the future--should this information prove favorable to us and our cause." He placed the teacup against the wood tabletop and motioned his hand towards the lady, gesturing for a handshake. "A deal with the devil, huh?" He commented jokingly, smirking as he stared at his hand extended outward to the woman. |
