| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? C.R.A.S.H. had received a call about a high intensity meta fight in the area, and Peter had brought a few of his men to the scene to check it out. It was a mess, there was blood all over the alleyway. A handgun had been found nearby, unfired. It had been sent in for processing and to determine the owner if it wasn't stolen. What certainly told them the combatants certainly weren't human was the amount of blood all over the alley but no bodies, and the fact that it looked like someone had been slammed into the walls hard enough to leave cracks and craters, and there was even a hole in the wall big enough to fit the body of a small person. Possibly female. A lot of DNA samples were around, even without the blood. Long black hair, a lot of it. Strips and shreds of clothing that had been caught in the wall when a body went through it. It was all sent off to the NCPD lab since they didn't have a lab tech of their own yet. "This must have been one hell of a fight..." |

« And I missed it! Urgh No fair! » Lyn whined. She came along with Peter to investigate this big Meta fight, but sadly it was already over. So much blood and everything around looked destroyed. She even took the time to set up in full gear too. Ah well, guess they could look around for clues. Lyn’s been itching for fight since her little bout with Jon. Sure they spar, but… it’s not the same. She wants a genuinely tough fight. Something maybe her own powers couldn’t handle. That would be the best thing ever. “Geez… do you think they actually survived? What if they were fighting with a creature that ate the bodies?! That’d be neat. Erhm… bad.. very bad” |

"There doesn't seem to have been signs of any sort of monster that eats people, granted not all monsters leave claw marks. If the bodies had been eaten there would be some kind of trace, but there doesn't seem to be anything. See if you can find a blood trail or something. Maybe the fight moved somewhere else." Shae hadn't been missing long enough for him to suspect it was her. Whatever had happened happened only a few hours ago. The thought never even crossed his mind. "Whatever it was, it was strong enough to put someone through a wall. The thing that bugs me is the gun. Whoever had it never used it, and I don't see why anyone that strong would use a gun." His radio went of, causing him to stand to answer it. "Go ahead." "We have early results in, captain. The DNA you recovered has three separate sources, but only one of them is an actually traceable DNA. The other two are a kind of DNA our computers can't track. We are running the trackable one now." "Understood." He answered, putting it back on his hip and turning to Lyn. "It seems your monster theory was at least close, but apparently there were two of them." |

« Maybe the gun belongs to the victim. “ Lyn chimed in. It was improbable seeing as Japan had one of the strictest gun laws, but it was a theory that made the most sense. Maybe the victim was a criminal… Ohh dear. “If there’s two of them…. What happened? Did they team up on the gunman?” Lyn peered to where the hole was. “If we got two monsters, and a human… No human could survive getting thrown through a wall, less they were metas, but would a meta carry a gun? Much less take it out?” She said out loud. There were a few drops of blood that led out of the alleyway. “Maybe whomever got attacked made it out. There’s some blood that lead out of the alleyway.” Lyn pointed at the few drops. |

"Officer Nottingham here, I'll get the information from the gun while I'm at the station. I'll notify you once I've got it and head over." Jon released the button on his walkie. Jon seemed to work around the clock that day, morning and afternoon shift had dragged into a late night shift as a gory scene called for multiple police presence. Yet Jon hadn't left the station yet, he stood on the fifth floor next to Vi's ... office? He had his radio on and heard the serial number for the gun that was found at the scene, and thought it was best to get it done the fastest way by asking Vi. There was nothing faster then Vi's system, and he trusted her enough to give him the name of the owner within the second. That way they would have at least one of the three names that were in the alleyway, and have a start somewhere. "Vi, it's Jon." He started, pulling out a small tablet that was used for random things around the office. It was connected into Vi's mainframe and she'd get what he was sending her almost instantly. "I'm imputing a serial number from a gun found at a crime scene, can you give me the name and address of the owner?" Jon took a deep breath and rested his arms at his sides, the tablet tapping against his belt as she waited for her response. Things were about to get ugly in 3...2...1... It only took a second before Vi’s voice echoed over the speaker, the make and model of the gun flashed up on one of the displays. Normally she would have needed to access the registry via the main precinct system. But the firearm was assigned to someone in C.R.A.S.H. “Officer Nottingham, the sidearm is registered to Lieutenant Forestward.” There was no mistaking the number he had entered. It flashed up across the fragment of Shae’s Personnel file. He could check and double check it if he liked. |

There was no time for him to catch his breath as he heard the name that Vi spoke. No sounds other than the crashing of the tablet hitting the floor would echo through the halls. Jon could hear his own heart beating, his breathing coming to a halt and the sounds of Vi's mainframe from beyond the door. Had he just been broken? He couldn't move, couldn't think straight. There was no way that it was hers. There was absolutely no way that Shae was one of the three blood samples sent in. He didn't want to believe it, but Vi was never wrong. Why would her gun have been there? Shae hadn't mentioned losing the gun so how was it at that gory scene... Jon didn't say anything to Vi and took off down the hall towards the stairway. Every second past with fear and sickness for him. He could feel himself beginning to lose himself with the thoughts of Shae's bloody corpse laying in a ditch somewhere. No, she was in her room. She had to be in her room. Every step he took he had to tell himself she was alright, that maybe another officer had taken her gun from the weaponry by accident. It happened all the time, and Jon hoped it was the case now. An officer being in this situation was cause to worry, but why Shae... of all the people, why her? It hadn't taken him more then a minute to reach Shae's room where he began to bang rapidly at her door. He screamed her name once, then began banging at it again. There was no answer. Jon was making every excuse in the book to keep from imagining the worse. He gripped at the door handle and ripped it from its hinges and pushed the door open. Screw a lock right now, Jon would fix it later. Her room was dark, and it seemed as though she hadn't been home at all. He could feel himself beginning to lose control. The knob he pulled from the door began to crush in his hand, the sounds of his breathing increased. Jon hadn't lost it before, not since the car accident that took half his family away. This was about to become ugly. He turned and went to his room for his cell phone, one he had left at the charger when he had gotten home. There were no missed calls, no text messages, no nothing. He all but broke his phone when he hit the green button to dial Shae. Each ring that past only caused more torment to fill him. It was like a knife stabbing him with each passing ring... ring... ring.... then a voice mail. Nothing, there was no answer. Peter and Lyn that were at the scene, they'd hear the phone ringing. Jon would try again, let it ring... ring... ring until it hit the voicemail once again. Jon lifted his opposite hand to his walkie-- "Peter..." There was fear and pain in his voice as he spoke. "The gun... it's Shae's..." Maybe he should've told him when he first found out. Maybe he should've rushed straight to his car. Jon had to know for sure, and as much as he wanted to keep lying to himself that it wasn't her gun, and that it wasn't going to be her blood that they tested. He couldn't keep telling himself it wasn't her. She had been in that alleyway. Tucking his cell phone into his pocket Jon took off out of his room. He didn't say anything else to Peter or anyone that he pushed past to get to his bike that was parked in the garage. He knew where he was going, and he'd be joining Peter and Lyn very soon. His love for Shae pushed him to stay as calm as he could. 'I'll find you, Shae... I swear it...' He thought as he skid off out of the garage and towards the crime scene. |

Peter listened to Lyn's theory, nodding. "I don't think all this damage was done by the owner of the gun. It was never fired, they were likely overwhelmed quickly. So why the fight? Did the two monsters fight over who got to eat the victim?" When Lyn found a blood trail, Peter nodded. "Excellent, let's see where it goes." Before he could get up and follow, he heard a phone ringing in the abandoned building next to them. It sounded familiar... "Lyn, there is a ringing phone in that building. Check for a body, or at least a clue to who's it is." Before Lyn could move, however, Peter's radio went off. "The gun is Shae's?!" He looked to Lyn, a mixture of panic and anger in his eye. "Get up there right now and check on that phone!" |

“Geez… and we missed it… so lame” Lyn said with a sigh. A monster vs monster brawl, an exchange of pure power, no doubt they were strong with the damage they did. Lyn heard the ring of the phone. She recognized the tone, though she didn’t jump to any conclusions. “10-4, Captain” She said as she was about to step forward, when he heard her outburst. She froze. It was like something broke in her mind. She was fully clothed, he wouldn’t see it, but he heard her shift to metal. She tore through the building, er footsteps causing the ground beneath her to bend on her weight and crask. She saw it. She couldn’t believe it, but there it. The phone stopped ringing, as she knelt down on one knee to pick up the phone. Her phone. She held it in both of her hand in an open palm, as she looked at the background picture. “N-n-no… Shae… N-no… No… Not Again… I wasn’t….” She stammered as she straightened herself up. She tried in vain to keep it all in. She breathed heavily. No… She was going to keep control. She wasn’t… She was going to breathe. Inspire and expire…. Her whole body was metal, and her body could be heard creaking as she tried to keep calm. “Captain… it’s… hers… It’s Shae’s….” She said as calmly as she possibly could Peter would feel the earth shake beneath, a powerful wave cracking the ground beneath his feet, and going a bit to the streets. Lyn would be on her knees, the phone destroyed in her hands and pressed against her chest. |

"Jesus christ..." This had just gone from a routine call to a catastrophe for the members of CRASH. Peter was on the radio in an instant. "Attention all units, Lieutenant Forestward is declared MIA and potentially in grave danger. Her sidearm, rifle and phone were found at a bloody crime scene that involved two beings that were not human. I repeat, Lieutenant Forestward is declared MIA and potentially in grave danger. Get me a K-9 unit here NOW!" "Lyn!" He called up to her. "This is bad for both of us, but we need to be taking action. The more time we waste freaking out the less chance Shae has of surviving if she is still alive! Get tracking that blood trail and I'll wait for the canine unit. If it leads to whatever did this to her, I want it alive. What condition it is in is irrelevant, I just want it alive." |
