| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? The scene of the street below her had not changed for hours. It was already well into the night and there was no signs of the one person she was looking for. Had Vi been right? Was this the place? Of course it was the place ... Shae knew what Vi did and vice versa. Only Vi had the availability to be constantly monitoring every speed, traffic and security camera within the city and run facial software looking for the escaped convict. Given her knowledge that he was mixed in with the Triads she was able to limit that search to Chinatown. But three times Vi had captured him returning to the same building in the slums of Chinatown. It was the worst area in the neighbourhood. Not that it bothered the C.R.A.S.H. Lieutenant as she stared down the barrel of her sniper rifle. She could have fitted it for anti material rounds, but she was only trying to kill one person. A .50 calibre bullet through the head was hard for anyone to come back from. Event with dampening, the rifle was impossible for her to handle without support. It would have ripped her shoulder right out of the socked if she tried to free fire it. But if it meant killing McAlister, she may have done it. Giving Xander the slip had been the hardest part. She loved the over protective cub more than she had probably ever told him, but this was something she needed to do alone. The last thing she wanted was Peter or Jon feeling like they needed to save her again. She couldn’t handle the idea of Jon getting shot again. Plus this, this was the thing she told Jon she needed to do. McAlister didn’t strike her as the kind of creature who gave up. Being afraid for the people Shae cared about was all the motivation she needed. He had made this personal. Shae had been prepared to stay there for the next three days if she needed to. Though it was going to be tough with only one bottle of water. The fourth floor room she was in had been abandoned. That didn’t mean someone wasn’t going to show up at some stage and lay claim to it. But the sight of the C.R.A.S.H. Lieutenant with the sniper rifle set a few metres back from one of the windows should have been a pretty strong deterrent for almost any thug. She still had her side arm and she had even worn a vest for the excursion. There would be no more sitting around, no more waiting for him to decide if she got to live or die. One way or another, she needed this to be over. |

Spoiler: click to toggle Before Shae could move for her weapon, a tall figure stepped out, standing right over the firearm. Why was she going for a weapon instead of escaping? She didn't stand a chance against him with that gun! Emily charged him, trying to distract him long enough for the woman to escape. She managed to catch him with a left hook, staggering him slightly. Her next punch was caught, and he back handed her so hard she spun before hitting the ground. She recovered quickly, coming back at him. She couldn't beat him, that much was obvious, but she could keep him busy until the woman escaped. She attacked again, this time ready for a counter attack. They both dodged each other's swings for a short time before she managed to connect against his rib cage and follow with a hook to the jaw. There was a moment of confidence before he planted his boot in her chest, sending her flying back into the alley before he turned his attention back to Shae. "I suppose I'll just have to bite you myself, I was told your skin was very sweet. Do be afraid, I encourage it. It will make your blood sweeter." |

Shae had managed three steps before the owner of the voice appeared. The way he moved, spoke... it was more than just chills that ran down her spine. It was that sense she was already dead and her body just hadn’t figured it out yet. Why had she tried to get involved? Because it was in her nature to save people. When the woman who had saved her launched herself at the man it was instantly obvious they were acquainted. And not of friendly terms... Sure Shae wanted her gun back, but what was happening was beyond anything a few bullets were going to stop. She wanted to run... she wanted to save herself. But she couldn’t leave the woman who had saved her. Whatever kinship she felt towards her, however misplaced it was. The Lieutenant was just not wired to run. Not when someone was in the middle of being beaten down. What the hell was the point, at least she could have gone out fighting. In the time it took her to cover the last half dozen metres to the entrance of the alley, the fight was already over. Her hand had almost closed around the weapon before she was ripped away from it. No..! Balling her right hand into a fist she slammed it into the side of his face ~ for all the good it did her. Shae wasn’t afraid, never for herself... he was not going to get that from her. She drew her hand back for a second swing, but it never got that far. |

Such a foolish woman, going for such human means to fight something even something inhuman failed to fight. He knocked the gun away from her, receiving a punch to the face he didn't even feel. He grinned at her, showing off his long fangs. He grabbed her, dragging her back into the alley to shove her against the wall, rubbing his knee between her legs. "Your protector failed you, and you are going to die because you just had to get involved in the business of vampires." He wanted to humiliate her, make her die with the flavor of fear and embarrassment in her blood. His hand came up, cupping her right breast. He squeezed it as he bit down, drinking from her. He managed to get three good gulps from her neck before he let out a cry of pain, pulling back and releasing her to look down. A female hand was sticking out of his chest, having pierced his back with vampiric strength and nails. The hand retracted just before hands grabbed his shoulders. "Get away from her!" Emily yanked him backward, throwing him into the wall. She had managed to save Shae from being drank dry, but she had been bitten by a born vampire. The vampiric venom was coursing through her veins, transforming her body as a feeling a searing fire spread through her body. Emily saw the blood dripping from her neck, her eyes going wide. "No!" She cried, realizing that she had failed. "You disobedient little brat, you ruined my coat." He said, recovering faster than she had expected. She tried to kick him, but he was done playing with her. He caught her leg and swung her face first into the stone wall, sending cracks and crevices creeping through the wall as he drew back and threw her into the wall back first, lunging at her. The punches didn't seem to end. Punches to the face, body shots. Emily tried to fight back, but every punch she landed was returned multiple times. He had gotten so into beating her that he had forgotten to return to his meal, and turned to see that she was too far turned to make a good meal anymore. "God damn it!" He said, turning and punching Emily so hard she went through the stone wall, collapsing into the room on the other side. "And her blood was so sweet." He retreated, needing to find a new victim to help speed up the healing of the hole Emily had put in his chest. |

Nothing, that was what he would get from her. Nothing but her defiance. She was not some innocent virgin to blush, nor was she really in a position to do anything about it. Nothing she did, no amount of fighting even gave him a moment of pause. There was only pain when he finally sunk his teeth into her neck, pain dulled by the adrenaline flooded through her system. But it was more than just a puncture into her carotid artery slowing the flow of blood to her brain. There was something more in his bite... something that made her body turn cold and then start burning uncontrollably. It was like lava searing through her veins. Her heart was racing, which only pumped the blood into his waiting mouth that much faster. Even if the world had not began to spin and blur, all Shae knew was burning pain. When he was ripped away from her, Shae managed to stand there for a moment slumped against the wall. The joints in her legs locked more than responding to her. Tears blurred and finally stole her vision. Her hand managing to press weakly against the side of her neck, but not enough to stop the bleeding as the blood, her blood, freely flowed down her body. It wasn’t fair... she had just found Jon... found something, someone, worth living for... her petite body crumpled underneath her and the ground rushed up to meet her. It was not like being shot, she never started to feel the cold set in or the shock of being mauled. This was completely different. Only this time the black pit of unconscious which waited to swallow her was not empty, even there she could feel every cell in her body burning, writhing in agony. There would never be any peace waiting for her. |

His prey now useless to him, the man had vanished, leaving Shae to her agony and leaving Emily a broken pile of limbs. She finally managed to pull herself to her feet, gripping the edge of the wall for support. She looked around, seeing that the man was gone, and the woman she had protected was in a crumpled heap. Had she truly failed? Was a woman dead because she couldn't stop the man who had turned her. She would check her for ID, to at least see if she could contact her family so she could have a proper funeral. When she reached for the woman's pocket, she moved slightly, causing Emily to recoil. She was alive! But that position, those pained whimpers... oh no... "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry. I couldn't protect you and now you have a whole new level of troubles." Sighing, she looked around. When this woman regained consciousness, she would be hungry, very hungry. She needed to get her to Wade, he would have blood since he kept a bunch of it around for when she visited him. She lifted her up to support and carry her. Emily's injuries were painful but she was in no danger. "I finally met the man who killed me, and I couldn't stop him from killing someone else. I'm sorry..." They were in a bad neighborhood, so maybe she could find some thug to feed to her. Emily would need to feed as well to speed up her recovery. |
