| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? Kitten’s grip on Angaelus’ hand tightened slightly as they walked through one of the multiple sets of glass sliding doors. Like any building designed to handle human traffic in the thousands. It was naturally an overwhelming sight. She was brave though, it was her adopted father she was worried about. Well, actually it was Jeremy... he would turn around three times, lose her in the press of people and start panicking. Angaelus had a natural ability to find her no matter where she was which seemed almost supernatural. This was the first time since he had brought her home from the hospital all those months ago that they were going to be apart from more than his shift at work. Which she was usually at school for anyway. It took her about five seconds after he explained to her that he was going to help Kyoki’s younger sister before she started reassuring him that he was going to be perfectly fine without her for a few days. Jeremy had started laughing at her with some strange comment about who the parent was in their relationship... but it was alright, because she promised to look after Jeremy while Angaelus was gone and to keep him out of trouble. He had stopped laughing after that, giving her that serious look. Only it wasn’t serious, because it was Jeremy and he had no idea how to be serious about anything. She liked Kyoki and her beautiful purple hair. She had been so nice to Kitten, and really that was all that mattered to the seven year old. That and even though she didn’t have any blood family of her own she knew how important it was. If Angaelus could help, that was all that would matter to Kitten. Kyoki deserved to have her sister with her. They passed through gates and doorways, twisting and turning deeper into the airport. Even through a metal detector. With the meta human population within Niwa, guns seemed to be a fairly small thing to worry about. The security man with the wand had winked at her when she passed through without any problems, waving his wand over her when she twirled around for him anyway. Before he needed to turn his attention back to the next person who had not been as lucky. “Do you think you could find Kyoki for me?” Angaelus knelt down beside her to ask. She gave him one of those serious nods. Of course she could... plus, that purple hair. Kitten would have known it anywhere. He smiled warmly at her, the kind of smile that made her beam with happiness. The next instant her stood back up lifting her onto his shoulder where she had a perfect vantage over everyone around them. “Over there!” Kitten exclaimed happily, pointing in the direction of the gate. “Kyoki!” She called out, but there was more than enough sound her voice was drowned out entirely. Her father instantly started moving in that direction. Jeremy, armed with only Angaelus’ carryon bag stepping after them. Crowds were so much easier to manage in his uniform. “Kyoki!” As soon as they got close enough she wriggled to be let down and raced over towards the familiar woman with the lavender eyes and beautiful purple hair. |

//Just hold on, Iahi. Stay strong for me. No matter the outcome, I'll never stop fighting for you. I'd lose you a million times, and find away to find you a million and one. The day had arrived, the flight was booked and Angaelus was notified with the ticket and note to Jeremy's phone. The days since he had offered her had been long, but they seemed to fly by when she thought about it now. The days leading up to her leaving were filled with both excitement and grief. Having to convince the land lord that she would pay her rent in the middle of the month didn't go over so well, but thankfully he wasn't going to evict her; yet. The hospital had been paid, but she was notified at the beginning of the new year that it would rise even more because of some stupid act that was petitioned a few months back. Kyoki hadn't listened to what excuse they gave her, no matter what she'd find a way to pay for it. The only good thing she had to look forward to was seeing her sister after over a year away from her. That was what kept her going that last week, that and getting to see her friend again. Excitement drove her to be early to the airport. It even made her dress like a girl for once. She wore blue skinny-jeans, tucked into brown boots that had no heel. The brown over-coat she held in her arms matched the boots perfectly, but what was to notice was the long sleeve tight turtle-neck shirt she wore. Even if she wasn't trying to look nice, it may seem that way to anyone that looked at her. Which, they did look at her. Her long purple hair that she had spent two hours curling that day fell down her back, bouncing as she walked. She always thought about cutting it, but for sentimental value she kept it long. Her sisters, as well as Kitten, loved to brush her hair when she was younger. Taking a deep breath she stopped before the gate and rested her rolling carry on against the nearest wall. Kyoki let the air come out in a soft sigh, all of the sounds in an airport that people couldn't see or hear was incredible. For someone that seems sound in a multitude of colors, its like looking at a rainbow close up. How'd she love to share that experience with Kitten, she'd absolutely love it. Speaking of Kitten, even if she couldn't hear her scream her name, the color of her voice was unmistakable. It was heartwarming to know that she was there to see her father off and in some way, see her off as well. There was no hesitation as she turned around with a bright smile across her face. Her lavender eyes instantly locking on the young girl that jiggled her way free from her father and rushed to her side. People around them couldn't help but turn to witness such a heartfelt moment between the two of them. Kyoki got down onto her knees and opened her arms wide for her, and as she came in Kyoki wrapped her arms around Kitten and picked her up. Spinning her once before stopping and holding her close. "Mmm!!" She let out a gleeful sound as she held the girl close. People awed and some even got watery eyed as she grabbed their family members around them. It was something that was hard to not feel anything towards, good or bad. After a moment of embracing the young girl, Kyoki would put her down and offer her hand to her. "It is so good to see you, Kitten. I've missed you so much. You just, have no idea." It was obvious in the tone of her voice that she was sincere. "How have you been? Are you ready to look after Jeremy while your dads gone?" Kyoki joked with her as she lifted her eyes to meet the two men that followed behind little Kitten, and gave them a warm smile before turning her attention back to Kitten. "Oh and by the way," She whispered to her before Jer and Angaelus got too close to hear, "Thanks for letting me borrow your dad for a few days. I promise to bring him back in one piece." She gave her a wink and giggled. How she wanted for a family like this... Edited by Star, Dec 26 2013, 11:11 PM.

Kitten wrapped her arms around the older woman’s neck and hugged her tightly. When she moved to set her back down she gave Kyoki a triumphant smile. “I found you.” That was the only thing that mattered to the seven year old. “I promised to take good care of Jeremy.” Much like Kyoki just promised to look after Angaelus. Well, maybe a little bit more. Kitten had been roped into feeding Jeremy and everything ~ not just ensuring that he stayed in on piece. “She made me promise to look after you.” Angaelus replied, catching the last few words Kyoki whispered to Kitten. Somehow the devious seven year old managed to get a hold of both their hands pulling her father closer. It wasn’t like Kyoki was going to bite. “It is alright if you keep him out all night and make him have a good time.” Jeremy chimed in from behind Angaelus. “He never sleeps anyway.” That was not entirely accurate, but the younger man had never seen him sleep. “We have frozen pizza, home delivered take away and all the cartoon channel I can handle.” The fact Jeremy watched more cartoons than Kitten did had not actually occurred to him yet. “I have homework as well.” Kitten reminded him and Jeremy rewarded her with an almost painful look. “It just isn’t natural... I am telling you that you’ve raised a monster.” Jeremy laughed at Angaelus. They were just like siblings, only one of them was 7 going on 27 and the other was 26 going on 6. Being able to ignore most of their randomness was something of a gift Angaelus had perfected as he continued to smile at Kyoki as though the other two had said nothing at all. “Did you have any carryon you needed help with?” He had not seen any bags when they had walked over, but it had been hard to watch anything but his daughter. “I promised Kitten I would buy her a hot chocolate when we got here, with marshmallows.” He added before she could add the most important part of the promise. It was like a winter ritual ~ or at least it should have been. There was a gentle kind of curiosity he levelled at the lavender eyed woman, the last time he had seen her she had been disappearing to make a police statement. The walls she had built around her heart had started to crack a little and the last thing he had wanted was to scare her away. It was almost instinct to reach out and touch her, if only for a moment to reassure himself she was alright. He had never offered anyone help like this before, it was not outside of the scope of his personality though. Helping a strangers had always been his thing... but she wasn’t a stranger anymore. |

She wouldn't bite too hard at least. Feeling Kitten pull her father closer to the two of them made her smile. Kyoki put the hand that wasn't holding Kitten's behind her back and rested it into her butt pocket. She didn't mind the proximity that Kitten had pulled the two of them to, honestly she enjoyed being this close to the two of them. It gave her a warm, loving feeling she hadn't felt in a long time. It was the same feeling she got when she was with her siblings when they were still with her in this life. Even if it had been blackened over by ignorance, hatred and pain, she still had a heart that needed to feel warmth every now and then. These three gave her that feeling; especially Kitten. Turning her attention to Jeremy, Kyoki chuckled and nodded her head. "I don't sleep much either, so we we'll have to find something to do with that time." Her words were innocent, and it was easily noticed by the tone and the smile across her lips. Jeremy's comment and Kitten's response with homework had the group laughing, including Kyoki. The four of them looked like a family standing there. Jeremy and Angaelus looked like loving brothers. Kitten was the daughter of Angaelus, and Kyoki... well, she just looked like she fit in with them. Whether or not it was the mother of Kitten or a sister to the two brothers, they looked like a family. Something that Kyoki could never forget would be this moment. Kitten holding hers and her fathers hand, standing between them with a big smile and just being happy. Angaelus caught her attention once again, which wasn't hard at all, and Kyoki looked up and met his gaze. She gave him a nod and took her hand out of her pocket and reached back to grab her black rolling carry on. "You don't need to take it though, its not too heavy. Thank you though." One would hope an athletics coach could pull something as small as that. The mention of hot chocolate and marshmallows had her even excited. During the holiday seasons she would wrap up with her sisters and tell stories with hot chocolate or tea in hand. Iahi was allergic to chocolate, so tea was the alternative for her, and Kyoki would always make fun of her for it. "Oh, I knew I liked you Kitten! Hot chocolate with marshmallows is my favorite." Whether or not Kitten believed her or not, the cheesy grin that crossed her face was evidence she was excited either way. "Hmm.." Kyoki turned her eyes to the hand that brushed against her arm. Whenever Angaelus touched her, whether it was to heal a would or a broken heart, she got a melting sensation inside. He wanted her to be alright, and that's all. He couldn't care less about her past or the person she was, he just wanted her to be alright. That's all. When he pulled his hand away, she released the handlebar on her bag and brought her hand up just to the point where his fingers brushed across her forearm and across her hand. Kyoki wanted to grab onto his hand as she had in the ambulance, but didn't. No need to make it weird. "Alright let's go." Grabbing her bag, she turned towards a small coffee shop just at the next gate, and led the way, never letting go of Kitten's hand unless she pulled away. It was a short walk to the coffee shop, which wasn't too busy thankfully. Kyoki rested her bag against a seating of four and looked down at the group of them, "Kitten and I can get the drinks, if you boys want to watch the bags and our seats." She said giving Kitten a wink. "What do you guys want?" |

He did not pull away when Kyoki looked for a hidden meaning in his touch a second before accepting it. They would get through this, whatever happened on the other side. He was going to be there for her. “A large skim milk latte with a double shot of espresso with a hit of vanilla syrup, please.” The words kind of came out of Jeremy automatically. Almost like he ordered the exact thing every day. He was totally ok with babysitting the bags and sitting down for a while. The waiting area was only going to get more and more busy the closer it got to the flight time. Plus it was seating near the window. If they got really bored they could always watch the planes land and take off. “I will have whatever Kitten is having.” Angaelus entrusted his order to the four and a bit foot tall connoisseur of fine hot chocolates. Her bright blue eyes sparkling up at him that he would let her pick something for him. It made the whole thing that much more serious. Angaelus surrendered her hand and she instantly stated moving in the direction of the coffee shop. The smell of coffee didn’t appeal to her yet, but somehow her brain managed to turn the smell into meaning hot chocolate. Jeremy always smuggled a small hot chocolate home for her when it was snowing while Angaelus was pick her up after school. In Kitten’s executive opinion, it didn’t snow anywhere near often enough. When the girls were out of ear shot, Jeremy sat down on the last seat of the four, getting comfortable. They were going to be there for at least an hour. “So you, and Kyoki, alone for three whole days?” Honestly, it was more of a relationship that Jeremy had managed to maintain. “I just want to know why have you never taken me anywhere nice?” Jeremy had been waiting for this. Biding his time... waiting for Angaelus to have something which remotely resembled a woman in his life ~ that wasn’t seven years old. Ever since Kyoki showed up, he had been trying to find that chink in his best friend’s armour... he was beginning to believe there wasn’t one. Honestly, did he not see how possibly romantic the whole set up was? The knight in shining armour racing off to rescue the damsel in distress, or the sister of the damsel in distress, all out of the goodness of his own heart. Jeremy could sell the story to Disney if nothing else. Angaelus sat down in the other end seat, leaving the two between them empty, his eyes naturally following the girls to make sure they didn’t encounter any problems. “You’ve never asked me to take you anywhere.” The older man finally looked back, offering up a smile. |

Kyoki gave the boys a nod and headed off with Kitten to stand in line. Still holding the girls hand, the lavender eyed beauty couldn't help but be happy. It was such a simple gesture, being with a young girl so innocent and happy, that gave her such hope for the world. Maybe it's why Kyoki pulled Kitten closer to her as they stepped into the line. She wanted Kitten to go with them to Hong Kong, it was a beautiful place-sort of-and to spend some quality time with her would be more then a New Years celebration. Angaelus didn't know how lucky he had it, having such a great daughter. If something ever happened to her, Kyoki would turn Niwa into a war zone. "Hot chocolate and marshmallows. Mmm, I haven't had that in so long." Kyoki said with a loving smile across her face. There weren't many in front of them, but just enough to give her some time to talk to kitten. Releasing Kitten's hand, Kyoki put her arm around her shoulder and looked down at her. "What grade are you in, Kitten? Do you have any special talents, except for being absolutely adorable?" She laughed, this part of her was something that had been locked away for a long time. Faking it whenever she needed to, but right now, it was all real. Her joy, her glee, that happy smile and laugh, it was all real. (sorry short post is short x_x ) |

Kitten bounced along with Kyoki, bouncing into her with every other step. It was like playing corners in the back of the car. Only it was more fun in person. “I am in grade three.” Kitten announced proudly. “When I first went to school, I took some tests. I think I am the youngest person in my grade, but I am the smartest too.” Kitten had scored off the charts when they had tested her, but she was so young they put her with children that were only a year older. The assumption she had been homeschooled was a popular one. But she wasn’t lacking in social development. It was the question about special talents which threw her. The girl suddenly became very silent and even stopped swaying. Angaelus had told her not to talk about that... “I play the violin...” It was obvious she had wanted to say something else, but she really did play the violin. Nothing like the child prodigies in the world, but she had talent. It was impossible for Angaelus not to look across to Kitten and Kyoki from time to time. “Why have you never told me what you are?” Jeremy’s question snapped his attention back again. There was no one else near them who would have heard or taken interest in the conversation. “I thought the uniform gave it away.” He always deflected that question. Being a paramedic was not where the younger man was going. For the first time he was not going to let his friend off so easily. The look he gave was one of determination, but there was something typically human underneath it that was harder to deny. “You have always suspected.” “Suspecting is different to knowing.” It was a fair argument. “You never sleep, I’ve hardly seen you eat. You heal people just by touching them. I know that light isn’t natural ... and it gets more intense every time you heal someone.” The man was living with him and he waits until now, while they were in public, to confront him about it. It was the fact he couldn’t hide what he was anymore that was talking away the possibility of even trying. Jeremy would never have told someone, knowing the truth would have been the least Angaelus could have offered. “I am fallen.” That was all he opened with. Across from him, the younger man literally had to hold back the questions. “I don’t know why my abilities are manifesting the way they are. I’ve been here for what feels like forever and they have never been obvious before.” So many questions. “Why did you fall?” Fallen angels usually prompted the image of evil angels bent on world destruction. Angaelus didn’t need any reminders on what the popular theories were. “We aren’t so different from other people. We have our faults, make mistakes.” Yeah... Jeremy didn’t believe that for a second. Angaelus had no faults. No bad habits... there wasn’t a single selfish thing about him. The better part of a year they had been working together and nothing was beneath the man. |

She couldn't remember her younger years too well, all the medication she takes kind of wiped the good memories out. Even if she had quite the talent to remember key points of information, something about her childhood escaped her. It was sad, honestly, those were the moments in her life that she had wanted to remember. Either way, she wasn't going to flood herself with negative thoughts while Kitten was standing there being adorable and telling her about herself. "You make your father proud I'm sure!" She said resting her hand on the young girls shoulder, pulling her close and chuckling softly. "And here I thought Jeremy would have to help you with your homework... looks like you'd be the one teaching him a thing or two. Brings new meaning to are you smarter then a third grader." She referenced a stupid American TV show. When Kitten paused, Kyoki looked down at her. The silence that hung from the young girl scared her, actually. Had she hit a soft spot? The first thing that came to mind was that Kitten was a meta- and her father didn't want anyone to know. The hesitation in her voice all but spelled it out for her, however Kyoki wouldn't push the issue. Instead, she offered Kitten a smile and a gleeful look. "The violin, huh?" She cooed, "Did you know that the sounds made by a violin create the color orange? That when the stick glides across the strings of the violin it creates beautiful waves of orange and a beautiful vibrant peach color." Kyoki bent down after they took another step towards the cashier. They were next, but before they got their Kyoki wanted to show her something. "I have a talent." She whispered, "I can see and manipulate sound. When you talk, its a bright yellow --like the sun. Here, say "I'll take a hot chocolate".." Kyoki brought her hands up in front of her body, and once Kitten spoke those words, her fingers would tingle and between them yellowish orange waves would appear into a ball in her palm. The sound wasn't too strong, but it was enough for Kitten to see it for just a moment before it disappeared. "Cool, right?" It was nothing in comparison to what Kyoki saw on a daily bases, but it was something to behold. She hadn't shared that with anyone before, other then her sisters. "Ma'am..." Kyoki hadn't realized that there were two registers opened and shot up from her kneeling position. Nodding towards the cashier she took Kitten's hand again and headed to the counter. "My apologize, I'll take a large skim milk latte with a double shot of espresso with a hit of vanilla syrup" That was a mouth full, jeez. "Kitten, want to order the rest?" Seeing as though her, Angaelus and Kyoki were getting the same thing, she gave Kitten the opportunity to order for them. |

Kitten had just stared at the yellow orange waves in Kyoki’s hand. She had taken a deep breath to say something else to make the lights come back when the woman behind the counter demanded their attention. The hot chocolate could have waited as far as Kitten was concerned, Kyoki’s sound lights were way better. But she managed to balance on the kick rail and gain a few more inches as she ordered. “I would like three extra large hot chocolates with pink marshmallows please.” The woman behind the counter almost swooned at the girl as the extremely polite request was made. Kitten was just being her usual self. Naturally she had no money at all to pay for any of it, not that Angaelus had any issues trusting her with money. The girl had no interest in childish things. She tallied it up and asked for Kitten’s name to put on the order. The girl quite possibly made the woman’s day. The woman asked them to wait but it was only a minute before the hot chocolates and the latte were ready to go, sliding them over into the waiting hands of both Kyoki and Kitten. Normally she would have offered them a tray, but they had enough hands between them to carry the beverages. Jeremy just sat there in silence for a few minutes soaking it all in. It was rare that anything made the fast talking Paramedic fall quiet. He had an opinion to voice about anything and everything... but this. Sure, it wasn’t every day his best friend told him that he was really an angel. Niwa had a little of everything, so why not angels as well, right? “I guess you aren’t really 32 then?” Angaelus met Jeremy’s eyes and shook his head with a chuckle. He honestly couldn’t have given the younger man an age if he had asked. Time meant something different to the angel. “That explains why all the woman go weak in the “Women don’t go weak in the knees around me.” The denial was so honest. “Yeah, right. Seriously... you don’t see them?” If Jeremy did not know Angaelus as well as he did he would have thought the man was setting him up. “Alright...” Leaning closer to the other man, Jeremy let his eyes wander over the other people waiting for their respective flights. He could count three without even trying. “See that woman over there, sitting at the coffee table with her laptop out.” He was illustrating one of the flight attendants. “She has been checking you out since you sat down.” Angaelus followed Jeremy’s eye, strangely curious about what exactly it was the younger man was imagining. Almost on cue the blonde stewardess looked up, directly at Angaelus and blushed slightly before becoming engrossed in her laptop display. “You honestly don’t notice them, do you?” Jeremy was just about beside himself, it was all he could do to keep that abundance of humour he was famous for in check. Angaelus’ eyebrows just drew together in a slight frown. “You were married right... you know what it means when a woman starts looking at you like that.” “I was never married.” Angaelus informed Jeremy in the same even tone which pulled the man up completely. “But what about the ring around your neck?” The look on Jeremy’s face was something akin to the look he would have had if Angaelus had slapped him across the face with a wet fish. At the mention of the plain gold band which hung around Angaelus’ neck he pulled it out from beneath his shift, looking at the simply gold band for a moment and remembering all it implied. “It belonged to the woman whose daughter I raised. It was a symbol of the promise I made to her... and a reminder that I failed.” The sadness in the angel’s voice was almost enough to smoother even Jeremy’s enthusiasm. He just slumped back in his chair shaking his head slightly. “I always thought that it belonged to your wife... that was why I never nudged you to ask out all the women who made eyes at you...” How did he not know this before..?! “So you’ve never......” “Never?” “Oh you know...” Jeremy managed to wiggle both his eyebrows at once. He was completely oblivious to Kitten and Kyoki standing behind him. |

Kyoki had looked back at the two talking at the table, just around the time Jeremy had gestured towards someone sitting across from them. It was a woman, beautiful definitely, by the way she was dressed it wasn't too far a stretch to assume she was a flight attendant. It was that moment she saw Angaelus look up and meet the girls gaze. 'Nice Jer...good eye.' She thought. Licking her lips, she looked down at the ground and shook her head. Friends. Don't be stupid. Crazy can't be normal. Leaning back towards the counter she smiled down at Kitten. Once they gathered the drinks, Kyoki smiled happily at the barista. Thanking them for the drinks she turned with Kitten and headed over towards the men. Even if Kyoki could have looked into their conversation, she chose not to. Even if she was very curious as to what the two of them had been talking about since the little one and her went to get their drinks. "Never what?" Kyoki was on point with her questions as she approached the table that Angaelus and Jeremy sat at. There was curiosity in her eyes, but if they didn't want to answer they didn't have to. Clearing her throat she gave Angaelus a quick look before moving to Jeremy's side and handing him his drink. "One large skim milk latte with a double shot of espresso with a hit of vanilla syrup." She'd take the seat beside Jeremy so that Kitten could sit next to her father. That would be strange for her to not let her sit beside him, right? Kyoki put one hand onto the armrest of the chair and crossed one leg over the other. Bringing the drink up to her lips she took a quick sip, being careful so not to burn herself. "Mmm.." She hummed, closing her eyes and taking a deep inhale of air threw her nose. "So good." The lavender eyed woman leaned over towards Jeremy with a sly look on her face, "You have to let me have a sip of yours, but I'm sure it isn't as good as ours are." She gave a toothy grin. |
